I love the service here. The only thing I don’t like is sometimes the delivery guys stay at the car and makes you come get your food from the car. Other then that they are great when I go in to pick up everything is done in good timing.

Ordered from here for the first time yesterday, and the second time today. This is NOT New Haven style pizza so it’s a nice break from thin crusty crust. The pizza is thick and doughy with a slightly cinnamon-y crust, a sweet sauce and a decent amount of toppings. Got the cheesesteak yesterday and it was tasty, but a bit light on the meat. Today I got a sandwich combo, and the extra two dollars was well worth it for the face-sized plate of french fries, onion rings and cole slaw. Delivery is available online(use their website and not grubhub or eat24 because there are delivery fees) and the food arrived in the estimated 45 minutes steaming hot and fresh. It’s not gourmet, but it definitely does the trick, and will be my new«I don’t want to cook dinner tonight» place..

Been ordering from here for the last 3 years. Just a small take out joint with a few tables inside. Was our go-to quick fix place since there isn’t much that delivers on our side of Hamden. Until last week, I would have given an overall 3 – 4 stars. I have had many grinders from here that were delicious — toasty bread, fresh ingredients. But pizza has always been hit or miss. Unfortunately last week we ordered what had to be the worst pizza I have ever gotten from any pizza joint including the likes of Dominos. We ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and I swear, it tasted like it had been in deep freezer for 2 years. It was disgusting, the pizza was so dry you could snap a slice in half with your fingers. I could barely chew it, the crust was so hard I thought I might break a tooth. I get sometimes you freeze crusts in advance but this must have been sitting and drying out all day. The chicken was like dust. If I hadn’t picked the pie up at 9:30(they were closing at 10) I would have driven back over there to show them how awful this pie was. Ordered yesterday from Pianca’s and had a really nice pie. Sorry Star, they will be our go-to from now on.

this review is in response to mrs. amy e. I am the countergirl who was always taking your orders. it is unfortunate for you to believe i hung up on you, when i actually put you on hold after you didnt want the credit, to further discuss the matter with another superior to make the situation right. i never dealt with you on the phone until that night, due to the fact a nice man always used to call the orders in. after you hung up, i had no intentions to call you back, i am not going to beg for the business of someone who chooses to speak the way you did to me on the phone. the shrimp scampi dinners are each made in seperate dishes to ensure each one has the portioned amount of shrimp it should. it is next to impossible to receive a dinner with only 3 shrimp in it, but for the sake of argument lets say the customer is always right. i am sorry you didnt have the same patience to stay on hold as i did for your tone on the phone with me. i apologize for any inconvenience this night may have caused you and wish you all the best :)

I am highly disappointed in my order. 45 minutes turned into over an hour. My husband ordered pasta with meatballs and they were out of spaghetti. My mother-in-law and I both ordered shrimp scampi, I had the linguini and she ordered the ziti. Her came with three over cooked shrimp and no sauce. Mine had more shrimp, but they were also overcooked and tough plus there was almost no sauce. I’m not saying it should be drowning in scampi sauce, but enough to coat the pasta and shrimp! I have no clue how my husband’s pasta and meatballs are, never mind the calzone. And when we called, they offered a credit on the next order, but we don’t plan on ordering from them again. At which point, they hung up on is instead of trying to make THISORDER right. Bye bye, Star! I’m done.

The pizza is good, but a little bit on the greasy side. The garlic knot are very good, and you get a dipping sauce, and the hot wings are okay some days better than others, but never nasty. All in all Star Pizza is reasonably priced, with good food and decent delivery time.

I ordered a pastrami grinder from Star. It was really nothing out of the ordinary. I would probably order from here again because the food was okay. This is about the quality you would expect from a typical sub/pizza shop. I cannot comment on their pizza because I have not tried it yet. A positive is that they deliver.

If you hate new haven style pizza this is the place for you. It’s not burnt, it’s rich butter flavor is to die for, and the sauce stays where it should. This is fantastic pizza — yum!

Pleasantly surprised! Got the broccoli and chicken ziti. It was tasty and very hot and fresh when I picked it up. The chicken was sliced thin and crispy on the sides, just how I like it. I’ll try them again.
