My wife and I went to this Trenton gem about two weeks ago and we were thoroughly impressed. A small, extremely clean and modern place. My wife is Puerto Rican(from Patillas) and also a very good cook. She was absolutely blown away by the authenticity and flavor of their food. We started with MASITASDECERDO, fried pork with caramelized onions. It was of course, OUTSTANDING! For the main course I had the DONPEPITO chicken and my wife had the special for the day. What was the best part of the meal was the dessert. The cheese Flan is the best we’ve ever had. I mean it. We ordered another to go. The flan is made in house by the owners daughter. If you like authentic food then you must go to Buen Provecho… no disappointments… see you there!!!

So I had heard great things about this place but never got to try it until today, Father’s Day. I was very grateful that they had the English explanation of each dish on the menu, so this white girl could understand lol. We ordered the appetizer sampler, fried pork and fried cheese. Omg I wasn’t expecting the cod fritters on the sampler to be THATDELICIOUS, but they were! My mother ordered the stuffed red snapper and couldn’t stop raving about it. Both my hubby and step dad got the mofongo, my husband didn’t really care for it but I just think it wasn’t something he is used to and was just ok for him. I got the skirt steak which was so flavorful and delicious. All of the sides of rice were flavorful and filling! The desert? Ohhhhh my god! The coconut rum cake, I can’t even begin to explain how delicious that was as was the coffee flan. We asked for coffee and what came out was divine. The café con leche reminded us of when we were in south beach or the Dominican Republic, so so good. Service was excellent and atmosphere the same. We will be back!

This is a must go if you’re looking for good food at a good price! After going for the second time I must say it was worth the forty minute drive to get there. The alcapurrias were hot and delicious, just the way grandma used to make. My only complaint is that the dishes weren’t sent to the table in a timely fashion. I was only halfway into my appetizer when my main dish came out. I went with mofongo with shrimp for the entrée and it did not disappoint! This is a dish that’s hard to explain until you try it yourself. To make the meal come full circle I decided on the coffee flan for dessert. It had the perfect balance of sweet and creamy, with a hint of coffee. Good food at an even better price. Do yourself a favor and make a trip to Buen Provecho!

Buen Provecho is hands down the best restaurant to go to in Hamilton, NJ. Food and Service are both outstanding. The other reviews are legitimate. One recommendation if you are looking for a quick bite. Go to their website, call and make a reservation, then place your order in advance, then drive to the restaurant. This place gets very crowded, and food sometimes takes 30 – 60 minutes to prepare. But its all worth it in the end! One more recommendation. Keep asking for more pink sauce and guava sauce!

Amazing! This is one of those places that delivers well beyond expectations. I almost don’t want to share for fear it will lose that off-the-beaten-path appeal, but it’s just so good. The family owned atmosphere is wonderful with the owners personally greeting and participating in the service. The food was incredible! Can’t wait for the next visit. Indoor and outdoor seating at this awesome BYOB.

Who would of thought? A puertorican restaurant in Hamilton, NJ. Well, I have to say that It was delicious! I ordered the Limo pork(chuletas fritas) and it reminded me of the ones Grandma use to make. Service was AWESOME and the place looks great. Very nice décor with smooth puertorican music. Loved the place recommend for any occasion.

We keep coming back to Burn Provecho even though it’s a 45 minute ride from our home., it’s worth the the time. The food is just that good and authentic. We noticed that the seasoning was kicked up a notch during our last two visits and this is much more to our liking. Let those PR flavors show through. All their dishes are great and the portions are generous. If you’re real hungry and like plantains, try the mofongo. Also, the rice with chick peas is perfectly seasoned. The appetizers are wonderful too. Try alcapurias and empanadas. We’re headed back there now. I can’t wait!

I decided to try this place out because I love Puerto Rican food and this place had great reviews however my experience was quite different. 1. I had cod fritters as my appetizer, they were way too salty. I couldn’t eat them. 2. My rice was super cold(tasted like left overs). 3. Steak was bland. I gave one star because the restaurant was nicely decorated, however I won’t be returning.

I like the place and the food is @ 3.5 really. The service is 4. Best dish is the fried fish and the sandwich. They have the 3 meat sandwich but I think it needs a refreshing crunch factor else the sandwich is kinda greasy. They have all different types of drinks and smoothies which is great.

I was so glad to have found this place. I went with my boyfriend and another couple a few weeks ago, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I’m half Puerto Rican, and was so excited to see menu items that I grew up with. It’s a cute little place that feels like home, which is a lovely start. We ordered the Surtido Boricua(sampler) as an appetizer so we could try a few things: fried cheese, stuffed plantain crisp, codfish fritters, and empanadas. All were made in house, totally fresh and simple. My entrée was delicious — and HUGE! I could eat a million plantains, and the sauce on the chicken was delicious. I can’t wait to bring my PR family!

Found out about this place from a friend. This is true Puertorrican cuisine. The flavor, the seasoning, the ambiance and the coffee were all spot on. It’s family owned an operated and it shows in the attentive service. The owner came to our table to chat for a bit and to ask how everything came out. It was a fantastic dining experience and we are definitely coming back.

I gotta say, the food here hit the spot. I was looking for Latin food near me and came across Buen Provecho. My fiancé loves sweet plantains and loved the one she saw in the photos, as other restaurants sweet plantains are not as soft and sweet. But I digress. I stopped at Buen Provecho for take out dinner and I ordered the Churrasco, sweet plantains, yuca frita(fried casava), and empanadas. The food was delicious, plantains on point. I sat on the chair as I waited for my food. The place was warm and inviting. The staff was attentive and friendly. My only disappointment was that as a Latino I know how much the price of a single plantain is and to charge $ 4 for ½ a plantain for 1 order is outrageous. However, I appreciated how they cooked it, it was soft and sweet like I like it. If you’re looking for delicious Latin food this is the place to go, just expect to spend some money.

Not impressed. After reading the reviews I was so excited to check this place out. It’s a’ bring your own wine’(only) joint. It’s weird, they have room with a beer only bar and a separate small dining room. Went for my Birthday and had the seafood soup. Broth was like watery tomato soup and the seafood was over cooked. My wife’s pork dish wasn’t much better. Service was good. Décor is clean but dark.

My family and I really enjoyed our meal at Buen Provecho. On a trip back from New York, we were looking for a quick place to eat that was close to the Hamilton Train station. Our server Melanie was very friendly, accommodating, and enjoyable to talk to. The service was superb — our food came out quickly and hot. We wish we had known it was a BYOB before coming! I ordered Los camarones(the shrimp), which were marinated in a delicious, savory sauce and came with plátanos and amarillos(sweet plantains). The plantains were prepared perfectly — some of the best I’ve ever had. I couldn’t help myself from picking at my mom and dad’s dishes, la sopa de abuela(seafood soup) and the pork. The soup had an awesome mix of seafood and was probably the table favorite. If we are in the area, we will definitely be returning to Buen Provecho. Thank you for the great dining experience! Gracias por una gran experiencia! Todo era riquísima y esperamos regresar pronto!

We’ve been about 3 – 4 times. Owner is very nice and the staff remembers us. This is a BYOB — a big plus. The food is pretty good, but for me something is missing — that south Bronx Puerto Rican cuchifrito experience. That’s right, sitting on a stool in a little hole in the wall joint in the south Bronx, ordering some modongo with some cow hoof, some pig ears with red gravy replete with sofrito over some rice with pigeon peas, blood sausage, potato balls, some fried cod fish, and, yum, some pastele, some fried pork skins, tostones… you get the picture. This place serves a more ‘upscale’ version of Puerto Rican food, my all time favorite of all the Spanish cusine. IF you haven’t had the pleasure of hitting up on some PR food in NYC and stuck in Jersey give this place a go — friendly service, tasty food, nice ambiance, low cost, and BYOB. Check out the pic of the HUGH pork chop I had recently. I cut the fried skin off and froze it and will be refrying those suckers and throwing them over some white rice cooked in olive oil — be still my cholesterol ridden heart.

This Puerto Rican gem of a restaurant is the latest incarnation of this location that has housed several restaurants over the years. And it is definitely the one that I am rooting for to succeed the most. The weekend schedule had made it difficult for me to visit, although I have wanted to for the whole of 2015. Now that I’ve tried it, I won’t let it deter me from subsequent visits. Nor should you, this place wowed me on several levels. First was that the interior is small but tastefully decorated, no wild colors, dark floors and ceilings with a few PR inspired decorations. Second was the service, Nathan our waiter was friendly and very informed about the menu, he easily explained the dishes we were confused by. Along with him there were several others on the wait staff during this unnaturally slow Saturday night. Third and most important was the food. I would call it a smallish menu, but one that encompasses most food tastes. I would recommend the app sampler to get a taste of 4 different items, one of which is even an entrée. From there we choose the steak, marinated then grilled to perfect medium as requested, which is not easy in a thin cut, paired with the best rice and pigeon peas I have tasted(I have experience with homemade PR food via some ex“s and their Madres) the other dish chosen was the shrimp in a tomato based sauce. Perfectly cooked quality shellfish in a mild but savory sauce. You can pair any entrée with a side dish if your choice, and for this one we tried a mashed root veggie that was different but tasty. For dessert we shared the fried guava cheesecake, it came with vanilla ice cream and ample whipped cream. I pretty much licked the plate clean. During dessert and coffee(which is very well done here) the owner Orlando stopped by to see how we enjoyed everything. He explained his business philosophy and why he tries to discourage diners from bringing beer(a «no beer«sign is posted at the entrance) He really cares about this place. And it shows in every detail. The only negative was noise. The bar and kitchen staff both make a racket. The smallness of the space seems to carry that throughout. The very nice patio might be a way to avoid some of it. I heartily recommend this spot to anyone in the area or just passing through on a weekend. If you have never had PR food you should change that right now. Vastly diffetent than Mex or even Spanish. This is on my list of top Byob’s in the area, top 5 as well. 4.5 Unilocal

As soon as I heard that there was a new BYOB, puerto rican restaurant, I knew I had to go test it out. Come prepared with drinks but wine only, AND make sure you know it’s only open Fri, Sat and Sun. I guess business is THAT good! We sat by the bar which does not have as much ambiance as the bigger room on the other side, but our waitress more than made up for it! She was a friendly and detailed in explaining the menu and clearly invested in the growth of the restaurant. We had the empanadas as an appetizer and got 4 nice pieces for only $ 5! They were stuffed with meat, pork and chorizo and were all types of wonderful. My hubby said he could’ve eaten these pockets of amazing-ness all night! Thankfully, I am not swayed that easily and ordered the churrasco(skirt steak) with fried yucca. Every entrée does come with one side order and the fried yucca was plenty! Although I initially thought the piece of steak I received was a bit small compared to pictures posted, It was perfectly cooked(I like my meat well done, but not dry) and very filling. My hubby ordered the pernil(roast pork) and arroz con gandules(rice with black eyed peas). Which was a giant portion and melted in your mouth. The coffee was pipping out next to us and I was tempted to get some to go, but after full bottle of wine, I could not fit one more drop of anything in me! This is definitely a place to bring the family or to have a girls night. Everyone seemed to know the owners or one of the young waitresses. They have ample parking in the back too.

When we arrived Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was empty. We started off with the appetizer sampler. «Surtido Boricua» which included empanadas, fried cheese, bacalaitos(fried codfish fritters). and a fried plantain cup stuffed with chicharron. It was plenty for the four of us to share. I loved the sweet dipping sauce as well as the mayo one. The restaurant is a BYOB establishment and does not have a liquor license. Vichet and I each got a fresh piña colada. It was probably the best one I’ve ever had. It was creamy and rich, not like the fake stuff that most restaurants offer. The heavy drink was quite filling. I should have paced it out more. My husband stuck with a sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The Tripleta sandwich includes 3 types of meat. He thought it was OK. I’m still trying to figure out what the big deal with mofongo so I ordered the skirt steak version. It was very good but nothing I would crave. My cousin shared her pernil cerdo with us and it was very tender, moist and flavorful. I was disappointed that it didn’t come with any pork skin. The serving was huge. Her husband went with the EL Jubaro Churrasco steak. I had a bite and it the meat was well cooked and the rice and beans were delicious. We were totally stuffed but intrigued by the dessert offerings. We couldn’t agree on one dessert so we got both the piña colada flan and the fried guava cheesecake. Both were exceptional. It was so good that I kept wanting to eat it but I had to stop. The waitress insisted the coffee was amazing so my cousin’s husband was the guinea pig and tried it, he said it was good. By the time we were ready to leave, the restaurant was nearly full. There was also a private event that was about to take place on the 2nd floor. Our bill was $ 95.18 for 3 sodas 2 pina coladas 1 coffee 1 appetizer sampler 4 entrees 2 desserts I thought the prices were pretty reasonable. It would be a cheap date night for a couple to bring a couple bottles of wine to enjoy with their meal. ** We sat in a room close to the kitchen. At times there was loud banging. Every so often we’d hear the plates and cutlery being dumped into the sink which was really loud and disruptive. If we lived closer, we’d definitely return. For food pics
