Really? A Chinese restaurant that hates Chinese? I went with a Chinese friend, soon after my friend introduced that he is Chinese, the woman named sherry showed her funny face to us.

Excellent food, and great service. Big portions and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend for different types of Chinese food. Will be back!

stop by to try because of the good review, was a bit disappointed, the food was average, the price was a bit high for the portion they serve, service was a bit slow too. Nothing special, not worth the price or wait.

Typical take out food but with smaller portions. Nothing special or worth going out of the way for, but it works if you have a craving for Chinese

BYFAR the best Chinese food around! This place starts with fresh QUALITY ingredients! SUPER friendly staff and owners are always onsite! It may not be the cheapest Chinese in town, but the best by far… I don’t go anywhere else. If I am going to spend money on food, I want it to be good! Great curry dishes, yummy soups and noodles dishes.

This place is one of those«that’s so Hamilton» things. They’ve been there forever. The first Chinese food I ever had. I’m vegan now, but I remember being younger and eating chicken dishes that were quite delicious. They still offer choices for the more selective me. Cute décor. Polite staff. Small parking lot, I suggest a compact vehicle. Call ahead and carry out is good, too, if you feel like a night in.

Chicken Curry, extra HOT! Good service and staff, very affordable, great for take-out. Sherry is one of my favorite restaurant personalities ever. Parking used to be a challenge but the demolition of the building next door changed that. I miss squeezing in the side lot, though.

Wanted to give Chinese Lantern a try due to the positive reviews, but was less then impressed. We went for carry out, as I prefer my Chinese food. The Mongolian beef had a bland flavor. The chicken Choy me in was very ek! And the season chicken seemed to be all cabbage? I don’t think I would recommend Chinese Lantern or would I visit again. Very pricey also!

Food good but service lacks. Would not take a party of 10 for a birthday because we arrived at 4:40 and they open at 5.

I’ve been coming here ever since I can remember and it’s awesome. The owners are great. The lady(Sherrie/sherry/Cheri?) is hilarious. She’s always joking around with our family and making fun of my dad. The food is great. The atmosphere is fun. The wonton soup is sooooo good. They put a bunch of crunchy veggies in it. Yum.

So this was a nice surprise. I was down in Hamilton for work and looking for a quick and inexpensive lunch. Chinese Lantern showed up on my Unilocal app as being nearby, so I gave it a shot. What I found was a small but very friendly place where the waitstaff seemed to know just about all of their patrons, and a great lunch special that got me soup, egg rolls, and an entrée for less than $ 10. I went with the Kung Pao Chicken — not the most adventuresome choice, I admit, but I got a LOT of food and it tasted quite good. Spice levels were pretty average, but that didn’t bother me too much. I’d happily go back if I’m in the area again.

As far as Chinese goes in Southwest Ohio, this is about as good as it gets for an old school environment, good quality ingredients, good service and well prepared foods with some unusual menu options. I have been three times now and have not been disappointed once. The tiki drinks are quite potent and incredibly tasty while all of the appetizers I have had are amazing. They are not huge portions but the flavor makes up for them. Dinner portions and prices are on par with other establishments that use far inferior ingredient. I love the tangerine chicken. My huband and I both love this place!

I’ve been here three times now. The food is pretty good quality. I’d say better than average for affordable Chinese food in Cincinnati. The Hunan Chicken is good. I’m a little disappointed that they have Szechuan Beef, Pork and Shrimp on the lunch menu as well as Hunan Chicken, but they won’t make Szechuan Chicken as part of the lunch menu. The lunch menu includes choice of soup and either an Eggroll or Fried Wanton. The Hot and Sour soup is really good. Lots of mushrooms and a nice kick. The Eggrolls are pretty good, but have a strong nutty flavor to them. The Fried Wanton are ok. Bottom Line, I’ll keep going back for lunch.

Local and not as popular as it should be. Best Chinese food that I have ever had but even more impressive is that my international friend said it reminded her of food her mother made when she was home. The staff is friendly and does a great job helping you find the right dish. The Chinese Lantern has always been a family favorite because the portions are large enough to share.

5 stars for the owners, but since this is about the food, it’s just average. Service is friendly and the place is clean. Parking is not good. That’s all folks.

This is where I get my Chinese fix, which needs filled quite often. The restaurant looks very small on the outside but once inside, it’s a good size and has a bar area. The food is very, very good and the prices are reasonable. Portions are big. Good lunch specials. The rangoons are quite small but the soups and egg rolls are tasty. My favorite is their chicken lo mein. Also, I never had rice that tastes like it does here; it’s unique.

Hubby and I went on Friday night and found the restaurant rather sparsely populated by people who were obviously regulars. Although the atmosphere is pleasant in an old-fashioned way, and the service is courteous and efficient, this place is Old School and not in a good way: the food is so Americanized that I thought I’d suddenly stepped back into a small town«Chinese» restaurant of the 1950s. You know, the places where a versiou of La Choy chop suey is the centerpiece of the menu. Seriously, although the ingredients seemed to be decent quality, there wasn’t a hint of any kind of Asian flavor in anything we ate except the hot and sour soup, which was decent. This is probably the most WRONG I’ve ever been steered on Unilocal

Chinese Lantern is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Hamilton area. The owner is friendly and welcoming as are the restaurant staff. Prices are more than reasonable, even a little on the low side for the quality of the food. A definite must-try!

Every time I return to Hamilton, I *HAVETO* go to the Chinese Lantern for a meal and some great«tiki» drinks. Great service and value in this wonderful little restaurant. As the previous reviewer noted, you’ll see anybody who is somebody in Hamilton in this restaurant and Sherry will most likely be busting their chops. She’s 100% unique! Parking can be a challenge in their little lot. If you go in the evening, park across the street in the KOI lot.

I don’t just go for the food– but for the owner, Sherry. I have never been treated so poorly and LOVED it! She has the BEST sense of humor. We enjoy joking about politics and all of the daily happenings around town. Talk about a local– this is the place to be seen in Hamilton, too. Mike Fox, Chuck Fermon, Chief of Police, FBI… they all are in here nearly daily. This is obviously a staple in Hamilton, and should be. It has been so long since the OWNER of the business chats with you and makes you feel like family.
