Nice to have a theater that shows the latest blockbusters in a part of central new york that is mostly rural. The prices are better than you’ll find in Syracuse or Oneida. But I do not know how they get away with serving that nasty popcorn. Each time I go, I hope it is better, but it is consistently the worst popcorn I’ve ever had. Tonight I tried it again, and it has a burnt(something) flavor to it. One mouthful was so rancid I literally wanted to spit it out, but with no place to spit it, I held my breath and swallowed then put the rest of the bucket under my seat for the rest of the movie. I don’t know if they need to clean the machine or what, but man it’s gross.

My favorite local theater. I vastly prefer it to the large chain theaters. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are extremely reasonable. The popcorn & cookies are amazing. I like that they offer a good variety of movies — first-run movies, blockbusters & art house films/emerging cinema, the Children’s Matinée Series, Pay What You Want nights, etc. The local photograph slide shows & minimal advertising before the movies are a million times better than the horrible repetitive nonsense you’re forced to sit through at chain cinemas. There are three screens. The seats are comfortable(even for a plus-sized person like myself) and for a nominal fee you can upgrade to extra-comfy special seating: recliners or leather living room chairs that are separate from the regular seating.

Terrific theater now with digital projection. Feels like a private screening room!

Came up here to visit my SO and his family for Thanksgiving in Sherburne and didn’t know much about the town. Man, it’s small! Lucky for us there was a theater near the town where we were told we «must see Skyfall.» So quickly the day after our ginormous Thanksgiving meal we head towards Hamilton by Colgate University to check out this theater(across from the Colgate Bookstore). We found free street parking and headed inside. It looks like they have 4 theaters that show at once. This is like your small town indie theater(which was the kind I like!). You pay for your tickets inside before the concession stand and then head to your movie. No student discounts from what I could see. The day after Thanksgiving was packed! Every seat in Skyfall was full and they had to bring in extra seats for the overflow. The way the theater is structured, you actually can sit comfortably in the front row so definitely step up to the plate if there are no others. I did feel a little squished, but I don’t think ever anticipated that many people in a single showing. Great theater, great feel, and certainly a highlight of the town.

I really like Hamilton Movie Theatre and it is one of the only evening activities in Hamilton. They show many independent and foreign films(this was a pleasant surprise when I first moved here) as well as more mainstream movies. It is quite old-fashioned which lends to its charm.

This place is not quite a(so called) art house theater but it often leans towards movies that aren’t intended or expected to garner huge audiences. It is an old theater in a small town as well. Special films series as well as midnight shows pop up from time to time.
