Great food. Service is a bit less than perfect. But overall satisfied. Last night came after eating Sawasdee Thai across the street, disappointed and still hungry and u took care of that.

Well where to begin. Bartender was awful. Left to go outside with her fella in the middle of ordering. Another bartender helped but went outside to smoke and left us in the bar woth no one here. When I mean no one, I mean no one. We were the only ones in the establishment.

As a restaurant, I have to give this two stars. I came in from out of town of business and chose Ryan’s Tavern on my first night because it was close to my hotel. After eating there once, I had no urge to go back again during my stay. When I was seated by the host I was given a nice menu to look at, but before I could even open it, my waitress came by and said I was given the wrong menu.(???) The host came back and gave me a piece of paper in one of those plastic sleeves. That was it. That was the menu. Not knowing what to order, I decided on the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. While the portions were huge, it was not that great. The potatoes were on the runny side and the meatloaf had chucks of onion and celery in it. Now I hate celery, but it was easy to pick them out, that’s how big the pieces were. And I love onions, but I ended up picking them out as well. I just found the whole experience mediocre.

Had a Rehearsal Dinner at Ryan’s last weekend and it was fabulous. Location was very convenient near hotel, the set up & decorations were beautiful, and the food was delicious and plentiful. We can’t speak highly enough about the staff. Special thanks to Don, Tully and Suzanne. Would highly recommend restaurant for special events or just an extraordinary meal.

Really nice staff. Very engaging. Easy to relax and enjoy their fried chicken. Tried the cucumber salad and it was really fresh and seasoned just right! I’m going to come back to try their Shepherd Pie.

Irish old-style pub. I wish I could give this place 10 stars because that’s what it deserves. I’ve been to a ton of bars across the US and nothing quite hits the mark like this place. The beer is cold, the atmosphere is authentic, and the staff is amazing. Head here with a group of friends and it’s sure to be a fun time. Cheers!

Stopped in for lunch as it was near to where I was working for the day. Staff seemed friendly. It’s definitely more of a bar atmosphere. Place was pretty empty for being lunch time. I got the lunch combo(choice of 2 from a list of soup, salad, and sandwich selections) and chose potato soup and the Blarney Dog. The soup was lukewarm and the chili on the hot dog was cold. Their chili was listed as «tavern made» but didn’t seem to be anything special about the chili and really seemed as it might have came from a can. The Blarney dog was more of a sweet sausage than a hot dog which was the only plus about the meal. A happy hour flyer had a list of all available liquors, beers, and wines offered. However, only those printed in bold letters qualified for happy hour pricing. 3 wines, 6 liquors, and 8 beers(only Budweiser, Miller, Coors, Yuengling products). So maybe drinks after work, but wouldn’t come back for the food.

Really pretty place. They USUALLY have a veggie burger but sometimes not which is weird. Usually pretty decent salads. The upstairs shouldn’t be missed. They have events like ghost hunting and Celtic dancing sometimes. Lovely desserts but nothing vegan friendly. The owner is a nice, chatty guy, if he happens to be around.

This place is a great looking building with a lot of attention paid to detail. The owner seems affable enough and every time we’ve gone there for drinks we enjoy ourselves. Now the bad news. the food here just isn’t good. Anytime we’ve eaten we’ve been disappointed so we haven’t eaten there in a long time. Next, parking is terrible for a bar of this size. No one, I repeat, no one wants to have drinks or dinner and then walk a block to get back to their car.

We have been to Ryan’s 3 times. The Sheppard’s Pie was terrible. I had better from The Dinglehouse, and even Schwans. The fish and chips are average. Drinks are well made. So if you want a beer or drink, good place to go. If you want decent food, I’d drive past.

Awesome restaurant and pub it’s got that old downtown Irish nostalgic feel with the old copper ceilings and 30’s and ‘40s music! The waitress staff are exceptional to thir work and friendliness. Food was full flavored and good size portions for a great price!

I suppose I should preface this review by saying that as a bar, Ryan’s Tavern should probably be fine. But as far as this place being a full service restaurant? It falls strictly into what two stars on Unilocal should describe: «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» First and foremost, Ryan’s has a very robust selection of beers. Of course, it bills itself as a tavern. It has a small menu that tries to focus on traditional Irish dishes such as Shepherd’s Pie. To be pithy about the food, below are the reasons why 3 stars were lost: Their chili comes with two saltine crackers. Yes, regular saltine crackers that look straight out of a grocery store box. That in and of itself is fine. But the saltine crackers we got tasted completely stale. There is absolutely no excuse for a restaurant to cut corners by serving stale saltine crackers.(Minus 1 star) Their Shepherd’s Pie describes«fresh vegetables» as mixed in with ground chuck. In reality, their«fresh vegetables» are simply peas and carrots that look like they came right out of a bag of frozen vegetables. Perhaps there were bits and pieces of onions, but we didn’t taste any. We also didn’t see any corn or any of the herbs traditionally expected. Also, whereas the traditional Shepherd’s Pie has a layer of mashed potatoes covering the top, this one had a dollop of mashed potatoes with melted grated Parmesan. It makes me suspect that the Shepherd’s Pie is simply assembled from batches of premade meat and potatoes before melting the Parmesan under a heating lamp.(Minus 1 star) Their meat loaf had a very good gravy on top of it. But unfortunately, I suspect that the meat loaf was made with the stale saltine crackers as part of the filling. While it is fine to mix in some element of carb with the meat loaf, but the staleness of the saltine crackers can be a huge turnoff. It’s a shame, too, because the ground chuck used in the meatloaf actually appears to be high quality ingredient.(Minus 1 star) That is not to mention some smaller complaints: Overall lack of salt, though I didn’t take any stars off since this is more of a personal preference. Some people like saltier foods. Service was slow. It took well over 30 minutes for our entrees to arrive. All in all, we were pretty disappointed.

Great place. The ambiance is PHENOMENAL, some of the best I’ve ever seen. Everything is done in authentic Irish Pub décor down to the smallest detail. Fantastic. The food is excellent as well. Their sandwiches are amazing(I reommend the Grilled Ham and Cheese!) and the burgers are excellent. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Overall, we love Ryan’s!

Monday night and cold so it was pretty dead. I could see how the bar could be good on a busy night. The menu was extremely limited, only 7 items on the entrée list. A limited menu can work if you do it all well but that’s not what we found the food was ok at best and my other half really didn’t like the meatloaf at all. I would say go for the drinks not dinner.

I’ve never heard of this place and went on the recommendation of a coworker. It was crowded and we had to wait a few minutes for a seat but, it’s a holiday week and everybody was out celebrating. The bartender was awesome. He let me sample a few different drafts until I figured out which one I wanted. We ordered way too much food. Or is it that the portions are just so large that we had lots of leftovers. I definitely would go here again.

The fish and chips were outstanding! Service was great and loved the environment as well. We stopped in at 7:00 on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. I’m definitely planning on coming back soon and trying out some of the other items on the menu.

This place is insanely hit or miss, but it’s mostly been a miss in recent visits. My Dad always calls SW Ohio«the culinary wasteland of America», and I don’t think he’s far off. I’ve been here before and had OK food and good service, but mostly I’ve had OK service and«meh» food. The last time I came here, my Dad’s order was wrong. He ordered a sandwich and asked for no mayo or tomato. It came dripping with mayo and had tomato. Tomato you can toss, but mayo is hard to get rid of once it’s been slopped on. He actually asked for a new one(bravo, pops!). The new one was wrong, too! Literally wrong based on the menu description(no mayo, though, so I guess that was good). The best part of this debacle was that it was his birthday, of which I made sure the server was aware. I was a server all through college, so I know what they do when they are uncomfortable or scared of a customer. She pretty much just ignored us after the first sandwich was wrong. No drink refills, no questions if everything was OK after that. She just disappeared. I did that a few times if things were going terribly wrong and a table was angry… but my Dad was never mean to her. He was very nice to her about the whole thing. The only thing she said when the second sandwich was wrong was«Oh, sorry. Here’s the bill,»(not an exaggeration) and that was that. There was no offer for a to-go sandwich or a free dessert or even a comped sandwich. I would say we’ve had a bad time 3 out of 5 times we’ve been here… all in a row. I hope that it’s finally sealed the deal to my Dad that we shouldn’t go back here. I hate seeing him disappointed after a meal. It’s not inexpensive, considering the quality of food, so it’s worth it to drive another ten to 15 minutes for decent food. I realize it will probably be a chain restaurant, but I don’t want to support a local business if the business is poorly run and doesn’t offer a quality product. To quote Benjamin W. «…but too much of it seemed like frozen grocery store food. Ryan’s is supposed to be an Irish pub, but the menu reads like an American restaurant with Irish-themed descriptions». This is really the best way to describe the disappointment of Ryan’s. It’s clear that this business needs to rethink their menu, get better quality products, and hire competent kitchen, wait and management staff. If they overhaul this place, it would be great. Unfortunately, there aren’t many choices in this part of town, so Ryan’s will continue to thrive in its mediocrity.

I’ve been going there once a week or so for the past couple of months and I think they have definitely improved. They came out with a summer menu. I tried the Irish Nachos and they are GREAT! Saratoga Chips topped with Corned Beef, Saurkraut and Swiss Cheese. YUMMY! I also ordered their BLT again and it was much better this time. The Bacon was perfect and the Lettuce and Tomato were nice and fresh. We are starting to become regulars from work.

This place is so much more than just a bar and restaurant. On any given day there seems to be something different happening on the restaurant’s two floors — class reunions, themed food nights such as Italian night, wedding parties, pub crawls, ghost tours, live music. That said, the crowd can be hit or miss. Sometimes it’s dead here on a Friday and other times it’s packed. Check the calendar on website for events. The bartenders are friendly and make great drinks. The beer selection here is HUGE. About 10 on draft and tons more in the coolers(and they’ve even got a countdown going for when they are stocking Yuengling). The food is pretty good. I highly recommend the hot brown and sandwiches.
