Astoria / Warrenton / Seaside KOA

I’m giving a 5-​star rating because of the amazing aspects of this RV park you pretty much can’t find anywhere else (see below), but despite my 5 star rating, there are a few relatively minor detractors:
— The paved spaces can be tight If you have a big rig. We have a 37′ travel trailer and had some difficultly both getting into our spot and getting out of it. I needed to pull my truck slightly into a vacant space in order for my trailer to clear a light pole when I pulled out. You may want to consider the gravel spaces in the back if you have a large travel trailer.
— Like most RV parks, the Wi-​Fi was poor at best and I had to turn it off and use LTE on my phone to access the internet.
— Cable TV had a limited number of stations (~20) compared to most of the other RV parks we’ve visited.
Other than these minor distractions, this KOA is unbelievable! We visited in February when much of the summer-​friendly amenities were closed (such as the outdoor pool), but we were still amazed. There’s two game rooms (one near the store and another in the «Bigfoot Barn» toward the back of the park. There’s a café that will deliver to your trailer. There’s a decent sized store (with relatively high prices). There’s both an indoor and an outdoor pool and spa. The list goes on. On our first day we kept busy the whole day and never left the park! There’s also tons of organized activities. The facility, amenities, and activities far exceed any other RV park we’ve visited and far outweigh the minor detractors.
We will definitely return!

We have stayed in both the deluxe and smaller cabins many times over the years and absolutely love it here. Our children look forward to many of the activities they offer here and we have found everyone to be very friendly.
That said, I am writing this review because I am freezing! We usually stay on the deluxe cabin during the winter, but it was all booked up so we are in a two room cabin with our friends renting two cabins next to ours. The cabins have space heaters that do not at all heat the cabin in anyway shape or form. We are all wearing our coats and hats to bed. So just be aware that even though they say the cabins are heated they are not at all comfortable in the winter. Pack a ton of extra blankets!
A couple freezing nights will not stop us from returning to one of our family’s favorite places, but next time we will be more prepared! Brrr!

I almost don’t want anyone else to know about this place in fear it will be overrun with hoards of campers that want excellent amenities and every type of camping experience to fit everyone’s tastes. Oh well; cat’s out of the bag now.

So I have read a lot of the reviews, let me say one thing the best time to go is the off season and when all the kids and such are back in school. This place had a lot of fun things to do and see and huge area to walk your dog.
We tried to get in here all summer and yes of course it’s going to be full of dogs and kids then. Here we are almost October and hardly a soul here. I love it! Couldn’t have come at a better time. That last weekend in Sept they have a doggie day where the dog can get in the pool. I read about a lot of things but no one mentioned the dog agility area near that place that has all the games and stuff– you need to check that out if you have a dog that likes that kind of thing.
On October weekends they have a haunted house. We saw them setting up for that. That is in that big rec room and they do let your dogs in there (although not during events). I would definitely come back here, and on an off time. This place is HUGE!

Let me start by saying my parents raised me camping and 90% of the time we choose KOA’s. While at this site they made the comment — «We’ve never been let down by KOA!» — I absolutely loved the Astoria KOA! 2 basketball courts and 2 pools — 1 inside and 1 out! Both very clean and impressive! They also had a indoor movie theater with gameroom (there was another small gameroom upfront — I think just to provide a really lil source of entertainment for kids while doing laundry.)
Our site was beautiful — enough space and very green! We have a 36′ trailer with slide outs — you couldn’t park the pick up behind the trailer it had to be on the side. There were also very neat tent sites that had a nice wooden fence in a circle divided by 3 walls and a small area in the middle for shelter. Very nice! My dad said the bathrooms were nice and clean, including the showers. There is also a nice place to get food (pizza, hamburger, hot dogs, ect) by the outdoor pool!

The only downside is say is that the WIFI just didn’t work. But then again we are camping and I sometimes take that as a good excuse to relax and enjoy my vacation!
The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful too — the store up front was really nice with coffee for purchase and a store that every tourist would enjoy!
This was one of the nicest KOAs I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot!

I stayed in one of their cabins for a few days, here’s my experience:
*They advertise having free Wi-​Fi. Yeah, only in select places — I brought my laptop so I could plan out the trip a little better as well as make reservations for on the way back home. Nope, had to wing it the whole time. We talked to several other people having the same problem. It’s also inconvenient to those of us with cellphones that don’t want our data eaten away… which is what happened during my stay there.
*Cabin: full of old cobwebs, EVERY corner and all around the edges were old cobwebs. We spent quite a while cleaning a cabin that should’ve been cleaned in the first place.
*Showers: as a woman, I like to have privacy when I take shower. Too much to ask? The shower section is coed. So, you go into whichever shower you plan to use and lock the door. You have to undress in a very cramped «room» that has a little bench to put your stuff on and get into a shower that had a head spraying water onto the low ceiling while creating a line of mold all over. I was so nervous the whole time, I kept hearing yelling and people kept slamming the doors and banging on the walls. So, yeah… I’ve been to several KOA’s that had separate showers for men and women, that were actually CLEAN and were very roomy and well lit to comfortably change clothes and take a shower.
The campgrounds themselves were nice and clean. They just need to do their job and keep the place cleaned/​maintained and ESPECIALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE SHOWER AREA. I probably won’t come back here just because I can’t deal with the shower thing, it’s just too uncomfortable for me.

The staff here is really, really nice but the price, once you add up all the fees is very spendy. Combine that with gross bathrooms and it is a one and done for us.

We chose this place because it had an indoor pool and hot tub. We wanted to relax after being on the road for 6 six weeks now but really couldn’t because the pool was so loud with children. People do not know how to follow rules. The sign states No diving yet still parents let their children do this. Another pet peeve I have is the hot tub, «children 14 and under not allwed», yet there in there! I gave 4 stars because bathrooms, laundry and the grounds were very clean. They do charge for pets which I think is absurd and they failed to mention this when I reserved a site. Also a fee is tacked on to use the facilities on top of your site fee. A great place for families but I don’t think I would stay here again. Beware of their hidden fees. They also have a great general grocery/​gift store.

Once upon a time I may have tricked the guy I was dating into thinking I enjoyed tent camping… a few years, one child, and many excuses later I shared my true feelings. «I don’t want to play house in the dirt, I have a real house that I try to keep the dirt out of. Tent camping isn’t a vacation. «I am so glad we stumbled upon this place! We stayed two nights in a two room no bath cabin. I was a bit nervous about the no bathroom thing, but it was a good middle ground for the hubby an I. I quickly found that I had nothing to be worried about. The shower room facilities were super clean, well lit, warm, and had some tunes playing.
Our cabin was adorable with a porch and porch swing, picnic table, and fire pit. The other amenities included were great with the indoor pool and hot tub rounding out this experience. It was a blast for our family of three and we are already planning our next getaway.

Best koa ever! Free pancakes, indoor basketball, pool, spa, ping pong and so much more! Great if it is raining! Right across from Fort Stevens State Park and close so Seaside and Canyon Beach! Excellent price to stay here! :-) Friendly staff and clean cabins! So many activities for the kids if all ages!!!

Stayed in their new Super Deluxe Cabin. Wonderful anniversary just the two of us. Reasonable rate and just as fancy as a hotel room. Of course it’s a kid geared KOA but that didn’t stop us from staying there. Bed was a actual bed and nice and soft with bedding and pillows. Bunk beds had bedding also. Kitchen included hot plate, microwave, coffee pot with coffee. Bathroom with shower, hair dryer, shampoo, soap and lots of wash clothes, hand towels and bath towels. A TV, dining table, and ceiling fan. Lots of lights. Outside a rocking chair, gas BBQ, fire pit and patio set. We stayed last weekend of February, I could see this place really full in the summer months. Free pancake breakfast with additional items like bacon, eggs and hash browns for a nominal cash fee. Pool and hot tub.

Loved our two night stay here. Really close to Seaside and Cannon Beach. Only downside: Loud campground, cars coming and going all night. Clean bathrooms and cabins with a/​c. Free pancakes! Great dog park as well. Would definitely stay again

Missing our reservation made 3 months ago. KOA agent started out friendly and then became frustrated when she could not locate our reservation and began to become testy and quick to fire. Manager is combative and not interested in finding a quick resolution, stating instead a line typical of a corporate response that we can’t or aren’t willing to accommodate you as a guest. Also found it discomforting to see other guests without reservations receive a spot while I was waiting and, a sign out front that clearly said they had vacancies available.

Up-​side: lots of amenities for kids – indoor pool, playgrounds, arcade, movies at night, free pancakes, more. Downside: expensive! We stayed here with friends whose grandkids had a great time. But as seniors traveling without children, $ 73 a night was the most we’ve ever paid for a site for our small trailer. Sites had a small grassy area with a fire pit and picnic table but few trees and no privacy. Wifi was spotty and slow. Next time we’ll stay at the state park across the road.

What a great place to camp with kids! Our RV lot was only a few spots down from a very cool play area for kids, with a fort and bridge, and giant chess. It poured down rain for a large portion of our trip, unfortunately. we spent a good amount of time in the indoor pool! The boys loved the pancake feed in the morning! We missed out on the cool outdoor stuff, like the bouncy area and mini golf because of the rain. we used the few good days of weather to explore the bunkers and the beaches. a GREAT location, and great facility.

Nice cabins and yurts. GREAT FOR KIDDOS! A few video games, pool table, ping pong in game room and afternoon activities on the weekends. Miniature golf, basketball, playground and swimming pool. Everything you may have forgotten is in the general store.

Because every single state park in Oregon was booked for the end of July, we ended up at this KOA. It’s definitely geared towards families so, as a couple, I was worried we’d feel a bit out of place. However, I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved) by the KOA Astoria.
The campground has a lot of family-​friendly amenities and activities, none of which we took part in. We are both «rugged» campers who are used to next to no amenities, so this was luxury camping for us. We were basically using the campground as «base camp» for exploring the region, so it was nice to have somewhere to start our days with a hot shower. We were, however, one of only a handful of tenting campers; most of the campers were there with massive RVs and tons of toys.
We had originally booked a simple tent site but wanted something a bit more private, so I called to upgrade our site to include trees, water and power before we went. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they didn’t charge us extra for the upgraded site, and with the nightly fees, pet fees and resort fees, it came to about $ 160 for four nights.
Another bonus for me was that the KOA Astoria is dog-​friendly (albeit with a small, nightly pet fee). However, as a lover of all dogs I was upset to see that they had some breed-​specific rules, which, in my opinion is unfair. So if you own one of a few specific breeds, your dog may not be welcome here.
My only other criticism was that, although the wifi was free, service was hardly spotty at best and I spent more time trying to connect than actually using the internet. This seems to be an issue most people had.
All in all, I had a great experience at the KOA Astoria. The park was clean (though the shower houses could use a cosmetic upgrade ASAP) and the staff were friendly and informative. While I’d prefer to camp in a state park when the option arises, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

For a KOA, this place is actually decent.

–COLD cabins in the winter… need better heaters/​more insulation… (my advice is to bring TEN BLANKETS and surround yourself with a fort of pillows :-)
–The free pancake breakfast is crap– but what can you really expect?

I stayed here this past weekend with friends.
Compared to the only other KOA I’ve been to, the cabins were a little more crowded. They’re so close to each other you can hear your partying neighbors, or those with screaming kids. Both of which we had the pleasure of encountering.
I also wasn’t a fan of the restroom set-​up. Men and Women’s restroom entrances were doorless and faced each other. I only went once to the restroom by myself because. well, you never know. The other KOA had it right. Individual restrooms with showers and sinks/​countertops. So you can do everything in one space, with privacy.
I was surprised how many activity areas they had. pool/​hot tub, play area for kids, the pancake breakfast place that wasn’t open for us (seasonal), gift shop, etc. They also had a lot of things going on for Halloween, for both kids and adults.
It’s probably more fun when it’s summer, less wet and cold, but more crowded that way. Overall an ok place to stay. It was economical and we were out most of the time anyway.

If I could give it more stars I would! The staff was amazing, friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The place was immaculate and had a ton of FREE things for kids and adults to do and every morning they have free pancakes until 11am. There is an indoor pool and hot tub, huge bounce pillow, big blow up bounce slides, movie room, bike rentals, miniature golf, and a decent sized store that even sells beer. We got a 50ft pull through and we had double the space between us and the next site that normal KOA’s give. We will diffidently stay here again!
P. S. If you want firewood, as you pull out of the KOA, turn left and drive about 3 miles down the road and on the right, there is a guy that sells 3 times the amount you normally get and he charges $ 10. Just drive up, deposit $ 10 into a tin and take the wood, it’s on the honor system.
