Everything was overcooked and too greasy. The restaurant itself is pretty nice, but if you’re looking for fresh Mexican food this isn’t the place.

I’m from Chicago and I was looking for a place to have lunch, fired up Unilocal and here I am. The restaurant is nicely decorated with mexican furniture. The waitress was very nice. I started with the comp salsa and chips. They bring the delicious salsa in a small jar and you pour as much as you want into the mini salsa bowl. Nice touch, not wasteful. I can appreciate the cook that takes an extra 5 mins to roast the tomatoes and chile’s when making salsa. Makes a huge difference. I am big on Caldo de Res… they did not miss the mark like most mexican restaurants. The potatoes where slightly under cooked for my liking but the zucchini and carrots were perfect! They had just enough firmness that you know the Caldo was freshly cooked. The meat was clean and broth was not greasy at all. The non existing layer of grease is what separates good Caldo vs bad caldos. And they give you a side of rice that I scooped into the Caldo which added more flavor. One of the best Caldo de Res I’ve purchased. If they prepare their Caldo this well, I can’t wait to taste something from their menu. I just wish Azteca was closer to home.

Excellent food, priced well, large portions. It’s authentic, kids, so make sure you like spice.

Good stuff here. The food(especially the shrimp) is delicious! And the price was good — if you’re in a group, definitely order the beer bucket. $ 13 for 5 imported beers.

Great little place that has authetic Mexican food. I had the Molcajeta thay was superb, the grilled cactus in the dish was outstanding. The cecina was tasty and I will be going back to try the steak tacos that looked so tasty

Hands down the best Mexican food in the area! The steak tacos and burritos are awesome! Nachos are good too. They always have a different fresh fruit drink, «agua del dia,» and really good horchata.

Ironically I have not actually ever eaten at the restaurant yet, despite the fact that I could easily walk there from my house if I wanted to do so. With that said, obviously I can not rate the cleanliness of the building or things like that. I can however critique the food itself, because I recently had some of it at The Hammond Civic Center on May 1st at the annual Cinco De Mayo Fest. I must say the food was quite tasty, especially the Strawbery Raisen Tamales. I know that sounds disgusting, but they are actually pretty awesome. I think the only thing I thought was a bit odd was that they gave us a dinner roll rather than tortillas. Aside from that, it was all very tasty, and I will be going to eat at the actual establishment one of these days.
