This was my first visit. The menu has a lot to choose from. I ordered the YellowBird Breakfast. The food was cooked as I requested and brought out hot. The prices were reasonable, portion size of my plate was good. Service was a tad bit slow however not unbearable wait times.

Yellow Bird is a great breakfast spot in Hammond. I get the same dish every time, the Spinach Florentine Eggs Benedict. Even though I don’t think the Hollandaise is from scratch, it’s a pretty good value for the price. The only thing that causes us to think twice about going is the service. They are always very friendly, but short staffed and seem stressed. You never know how your check will come and where to pay, so checking out is always confusing. But considering other choices in Hammond for breakfast, we always recommend it to friends.

I made my own Crab Cake Benedict. It was awesome! The staff are very friendly and helpful. This is my 2nd visit and I will return again when I’m in this beautiful town. Thanks Yellow Bird Café

Great little breakfast spot. We were in town for a graduation. The food hit the spot after a long morning at SLU.

1. Don’t come here if you’re in a rush. Service is slooooooooooow. 2. Don’t expect great costumer service. You get the minimum. Hello, what can I get for you? Goodbye. Oops, no goodbye b/c we had to hunt someone down to pay for bad service. 3. The utensils are dirty. Inspect them before you start eating. 4. The grits are chunky, not creamy. No salt. No pepper. No butter. Just simple 5 minute grits, not made with love. 5. Same goes for the omelettes. No flavor. The only thing Louisiana about the Louisiana omelette are the shrimp. 6. Surprisingly, the grilled potatoes had flavor. If only they’d take some of that seasoning & put it on their other menu items. The Chiquita waffle is good as well. Unfortunately, not good enough to return for another experience.

The orange juice is fresh squeezed; a nice change from concentrate everywhere else. Not particularly busy at 9am on a wed when I was there

First visit. Excellent service. Excellent breakfast! Brought three preteen boys who left full AND satisfied. Had one Tex/Mex super fan who adored the south of the border choices. Will definitely make this a regular breakfast destination.

As a South Texas girl raised on a combination of family Tex-Mex restaurants and real Mexican food from the neighbors, I generally distrust Mexican food so far from the border. So I ordered the Granola Almond pancakes. The rest of the family didn’t know the«no Mexican this far from the border» so they ordered Migas, Mollettas, and Two to Tango. We ate everything; we offered and accepted bites from one another, and we all were very very satisfied. The refried black beans were more Cuban than Mexican, as was the Two to Tango, but everything was amazing! Our waiter kept our drinks full and checked on us without hovering; he was friendly without telling us his life story. We make the Texas to Florida trek every year or so; this place makes our«required stop» list(along with The Best Stop in Scott for boudin.)

Hidden Gem. Excellent chorizo. Refried black beans. I had Migas and my friend had the ropa viejo both great but hers was was incredible. If you like food with a Cuban/Latin flare it is done quite well here. Also a large American breakfast lunch and salad menu too.

We went there for breakfast. It appeared to me that most of the crowd knew the staff and knew each other. This is almost a throwback neighborhood diner. Not at all fancy, food was generous and good and service was friendly. If the waitress had on a uniform and was chewing gum I might have checked my smart phone calendar to check which year it was. Instead, I looked outside hoping to see my 57 Chevy coupe. Drat, it was still an SUV so I was still in 2015.

This is just a small place, but we chose it based on Unilocal reviews. The breakfast was amazing! Louisiana grits with biscuits. Very filling, could probably be split between 2 people. Worth finding.

Road trip north on 55, found Yellow Bird on Unilocal.Worth the distance off the interstate for fresh cooked breakfast. Cuban and American menu. Rosemary potatoes to steal your heart. Casual, fast and friendly. Locals place.

Another Unilocal find. The food was great but the service really stood out. We were like old friends but the time the week my parents visited was over.

Yes, it is a way off the highway, but SO worth the trip. We are glad to be back, on our way home from NOLA. I just wish we planned it once so I could get some ropa or black beans and rice instead of breakfast. My tummy wasn’t quite ready today, after last night at The Friendly Bar

Food was okay. Service was awful. The cook had an obnoxious demeanor in the kitchen with his bell for orders. We counted that he ran the bell at least 17x. Waitress commented that she did not want to fight with«him», aka the bell man in the kitchen. As I am writing this review outside, I can still hear that damn bell!
