I visited 12 wineries last weekend, some which were really good and some that I definitely wouldn’t go back to. This is the only one I am leaving a review for because I thought it was completely set apart from the others. The vibe as soon as we walked in was great. We felt so welcome and the owner and lady pouring seemed genuinely happy to be at work and doing what they do. You don’t get that at many places. We had such a great experience, I have been telling all my friends about it. Unfortunately the winery is about 2 hours from my house, but I will be making the trip again in a few months for sure! Definitely high on the list of must visit wineries in NJ.

I loved my experience at Dimatteo! Everyone was so friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. I’m not a fan of sweet wines, but Jackie convinced me to give them a try and I was not disappointed. I was their for their wine and chocolate weekend, so I was greeted with a rose and my boyfriend and I were offered some various snacks and Italian wedding soup. I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in the area.

I have to admit, we were a little concerned when we pulled into the parking lot– it was waaaay smaller than we were expecting– but we were really pleased once things got going. We had a Groupon, which was why we went there to begin with, and the four of us fit comfortably at the bar. Our server had us pick seven wines off a list but ended up giving us every single wine they had available to taste, and each one was awesome. I’m not typically a wine person, but even the ones I didn’t like weren’t particularly bad. Our server was also extremely well-versed in wine, like the most excited server I’ve ever met. She explained every single wine and how we would taste it and what it would pair with and it made the experience wonderful. She was also hilarious! A great perk was that we got to keep the glasses we used as a souvenir. We all got at least one bottle to bring home, and it was pretty inexpensive, especially for how good everything was! The server also helped us choose which wine to bring to Thanksgiving dinner. I would definitely recommend this place. Support a local business and buy their wines! I just wish it was a little closer so we could make a habit out of it!

I echo the sentiment of some of the other reviewers, Jackie is a total trip. Her vivacious nature and feel good vibes are infectious. I’ve been to many wineries and I’ve never come across anyone as into their job, and the enjoyment of the patrons as she is. Not to take away from the wines, but she is destined for greatness in whatever field she pursues. As for the product, it is pretty decent. I found more whites that interested me, but I was happy to try a red variety I had never heard of, Ives. The favorite of the tasting was an Ice wine, this example was as good or better than some I’ve had which are double the cost. The tasting room is fairly small, but since this is a bit off the beaten path, it never became too crowded. Somehow Jackie was able to take care of everyone(at one point at least 10 of us) by herself. The winemaker/owner was also in attendance and was fun to talk with. All but a few of the varieties of grapes are produced by the winery, and even the fruit used is local. Well worth a side trip if you are coming from or going to the shore. 4 viniferous Unilocal

Amazing person running the tasting when we went. Her name was Dana. My friend is a chef and the way Dana described the wine and paired it with food was awesome. Her descriptions were spot on. Great tasting and great learning experience. Would definitely return!

It’s a small family winery and they had a small tasting bar. Tasting room decoration isn’t fancy and wine tasting menu isn’t sophisticated. But the staff is very friendly and helpful. We met Mr dematteo who is the owner and winemaker. He was also helping wine tastings that afternoon. He explained to us how he made each wine and gave us some tasting notes from all of his wines. That was very helpful. We were very impressed by his employee who was working with him. She was very helpful and knowledgeable too. It was really fun to be there. I bought few tramminate from here. If you like guwerztreminer or tramminate, you should try place. Price is good and people are fun. It’s a very small winery but don’t miss it if you are around this area.

We were met by the Owner Frank, General Manager John, and Wine Enthusiast Jacky. While we were the last tasters of the evening, they made us feel like we were family. Like a typical Italian house, the DiMatteo family had a spread of savory and sweet snacks to compliment the wine tasting experience. I must say I’m not a fan of simple table wines, but Frank’s red table gave me a sense of nostalgia. The first sip took be back in time when I use to sit with my grandfather as he drank his glass of daily red. This is a great stop!

This was our second stop of three wineries we went to that day. We were told to visit there after visiting Plagido’s and ask for Frank. They were really friendly and outgoing there! You felt welcome right when you got in the door. We plan to go back soon, partly cause of the atmosphere, but also because they have a new wine coming out that we got to try and was amazing.

Stopped by to pick up a bottle of wine, ended up doing the tasting, having a few glasses of wine and staying for a few hours! Had a wonderful time chatting with Frank, learning about the winery and all the wines. One of the friendliest wineries I have been to in the south Jersey area. The wine was great and they had a nice selection of reds, whites and fruits. I tend to prefer the dry wines, but ended up leaving with two of their fruit wines, as they were not as sweet as some I have tasted, as well as two bottles of their dry reds. I will definitely be back in the near future!

Not a huge list of wine to taste but good variety, bought 3 bottles! My favorite is the chocolate raspberry :) There were a ton of customers for a Sunday evening and the employee helping us was very attentive and personable

Loving Jackie behind the bar. Friendly and knowledgeable! Fortunately or perhaps unfortunately, she knew what we wanted as we came through the door! Diamond is my wifes favorite there. Can’t wait till they have more available. Uncorking a Pasquale Red now! Thanks everyone at Dimatteo Vineyards!

This was the first stop on our bachelorette party’s wine tour. Our sommelier was fantastic! She was so friendly and knowledgable and entertaining. It made for a great atmosphere, and the wine was pretty good. The other two stops paled in comparison.

Down to earth, off the beaten path winery located on the outskirts of Hammonton. Friendly staff and knowledgeable about the wines. One of my favorite wines is their Traminette; it pairs extremely well with fish tacos and sushi. Another added bonus is you always seem very welcome by the staff. It always seems to be quite entertaining when I stop there!

Delicious wine, best stories from Frank the bad catholic boy. Bursts of flavor and lots of laughter in this small but lovely find in the great town of Hammonton NJ, the blueberry Capitol of the world.

We just went here as part of a wine tour for my friend’s bachelorette party. Great atmosphere, extremely friendly service, and loved being able to choose the wines I wanted try. They have a nice little patio area that you can bring food to eat at too. Would definitely recommend it!

Loved loved loved this place, because of Jackie who I spoke to on the phone before coming. She was amazing, fun, knowledgable and perfect for the job. I ended up buying 6 bottles and I was happy to after my horrible time at Plagido which is nearby. Go to DiMatteo, not Plagido, you will not regret it!!! Loved the Cranberry Moscato wine too, not a sweet wine lover per se, but it had a great cranberry taste that was unique!

For my friends birthday she organized a mini little wine tour and Dimatteo was are 1st stop. Despite being confused by the locked door when we got there, this ended up being one of the best place we went. The Taster was super friendly and very informative she made the tasting fun and entertaining. Personally I am not a fan of sweet wine and this place was mostly sweet wines. But of all the place we went for the non-sweet wines this place was my favorite. And Loved the taste test between hot and cold wine, loved the spiced apple warm!

Nice establishment set off from the main road… a regular stop on local wine tours. we’re especially fond of their apple wine, which seems to compliment anything its paired with. the staff & family that run the establishment are all very inviting and knowledgeable.

Dimatteo is another gem of a winery tucked away in rural South Jersey. Of all the wineries I’ve been to I like the staff here the best. The lady that did my tasting was just so cool and knowledgable. They have a solid lineup here… the sangria was by far my favorite and definitely the best of the local sangrias I have tried. The Pasquale Red seems to also be a customer favorite here. This particular winery is tiny, but that adds to the ambiance. Great wine & great people!

Our second winery of the day and the second time we found the original location to be closed. Managed to find the new tasting room which was sparsely appointed but the person who helped us was quite informative. We are not big on sweet wines but found a couple of decent wines. We’ll swing by again on a future trip to see how things develop.
