Worth going out of your way if you have to. Do NOT be fooled by dated furnishings, this is the BEST diner ever. Amazing, generous portions, all homemade, bring dessert home if you don’t have room! Highly recommended!

Stopped on the way home from the shore and was pleasantly surprised! The service was excellent– food came out really quickly and the staff was very attentive and friendly. We just ordered breakfast but it was delicious and nice and hot! I will definitely be stopping here again!

A nail brought me to this diner. I’m a little bit happier now. On my way to AC, a nail punctured a tire on my car, causing a slow leak. Not wanting to drive home on the toll road at 80mph on an iffy tire, I drove — slowly — on the minor highways and roads back to NNJ. Which is how I discovered the Harley Dawn Diner. I look at diners sort of like fast food places — you can usually depend on a good cup of coffee, and good food(as long as you don’t stray too far from the basics: eggs, BLTs and the like). This place fit the bill perfectly. The portions were good, the food was cooked great, the people were happy and friendly. And, as I looked out the window next to me, I saw that the whole operation was run by solar power! The Harley Dawn is the very reason why people should occasionally get off the superhighways and rediscover the little gems on our side roads. Great jobs, guys!

Accidentally came upon this place after missing a turn on the way home. The place is real clean. Wait staff is friendly and the food came out pretty fast. Food was really good.

I used to go here every Sunday evening for dinner when I lived in the Mays Landing area. The food was always solid, clearly homemade, and was a terrific value. This weekend I was back in the area and was able to drop in for dinner. I’m pleased to see that all of those things still remain true, including seeing April(one of the owners) behind the counter. The soups are always standouts, and this weekend’s tomato mushroom was no exception. What I found particularly amazing was that not only was quality of the broiled crab cakes still the same after all these years, so was the price. $ 14.95 gets you two huge crab cakes made with just enough bread crumbs to keep the crab from falling apart, two sides, bread, and a salad or a cup of soup. Wow. Oh, I almost managed to forget. Do NOT miss desert. Tons of homemade cakes and pies that are served in huge portions. I usually skip desserts when dining out as I rarely feel that I get my money’s worth. Not so here. I’ve even had them wrap up my dessert to go when I couldn’t manage to cram another morsel down my gullet. Easily the best place to eat between the shore and wherever you’re headed home to along Black Horse Pike or Route 54.

Driving home from the shore, we found this place. The atmosphere is cute and definitely dineresque. We ordered a chicken cheddar club, a tuna melt, an open faced turkey sandwich, french onion soup, and a meatball parm sandwich. ALL were absolutely EXCELLENT. The brewed ice tea was delicious and the fries were to die for, nice and crispy coating but not overdone. There were VERY generous portion sizes and the variety of foods they offered was unbelievable given the genre of restaurant. There is definitely something here for everyone, not to mention a whole mess of desserts. We ordered the chocolate chip cookie pie which was pretty good. The prices were fairly reasonable. All in all, a place that would be nice to visit again on another trip back from the shore.

The most disgusting restaurant meal I’ve had this year. Frozen broccoli with Hollandaise from a mix, mashed potatoes from a box, flavorless turkey covered in a pale green mucous clump-ridden gravy. Vile. Inedible. As for the homemade desserts, the cocoanut marshmallow cake was inedible. The marshmallow between layers was hard like plastic, the white cake was a flavorless sawdust patty, and there was NO cocoanut in the cocoanut cake. I ate at home later. My companions’ meals were only slightly better than mine.

I started going to Harley Dawn as a recommendation from my parents. On my day off, my best friend and I were headed towards Hammonton from Vineland to see my coworkers and do some shopping. Since that one evening, Harley Dawn has become a biweekly favorite! The portions are always filling, and I usually bring home leftovers. The daily specials are a little too pricey for my taste, but my parents say it’s worth every penny. If you are stuck on route 54 and hungry, take the 322 exit east and stop in. It’s about a minute or two off route 54. The staff is amazing and friendly, and a wonderful family run business. If you have a bigger tummy or want a more roomy seating situation, sit in the side room towards the back(the booths are a little squishy towards the front!).
