Henry Hotts is an ok place to eat — the food is excellent! But the service sucks — every time I go in there to eat — they make me feel like I don’t belong there — but they enjoy catering to the other folk — las time I checked my money is green just like there’s… I guess my business would be more appreciated at Kelsey’s or uncle dewy’s BBQ — i’m quite sure the food is better and the service is excellent. Thanks again Henry hots for nothing.

I love this place, I just wish they had more hours. It seems they are closed often. Great seafood platters and the beef brisket is a fave or mine. The dessert are delicious too

We sat outside on the patio, which was very nice. The jerk chicken was excellent as was the coleslaw. Limited selection of dessert but we were too full from the dinner!

Visit on the weekend & get the buffet-seriously. There isn’t anything on it that’s not homemade & delicious! The fried chicken is perfect, the mac n cheese is to die for, coleslaw, sweet potatoes, pulled pork, meatloaf, corn pudding… we tried it all & its awesome! The waitstaff is really friendly & you even get home made dessert with the buffet– you’ll love it. True soul food!!!

I have driven by Henri’s BBQ so many times, smell the delicious aroma, but failed to stop by until yesterday. When I walked it, the place was packed and it looked like a buffet from a family outing. That is what gives you the feel of the homemade BBQ kitchen. The aroma inside is of that sweet rib sauce mixed with the char grill. My mouth was watering and couldn’t wait to eat. The great news is that the food is ready to go, if you choose the buffet. For a first timer, this was a perfect selection for me for only $ 16.95. Everything was great and freshly made. The mashed sweet potatoes were rich and tasted like a warm pumpkin pie loaded with melted marshmallows. The ribs were sweet and the meat just falls right off of the bone. The crab bisque was so tasty, but was light on the crab meat. That might have been because I came a little later. The buffet is a tight squeeze so you need to wait patiently at times. All in all, this is a terrific spot to stop by on your way to the shore or on your way home. Also, and ideal spot to tickle that sweet tooth when you’re craving some soulful BBQ cooking.

Really enjoyed our lunch at Henri’s. The buffet was awesome. Stand outs for me were the mac and cheese, corn pudding, pulled pork, and fried chicken. Everything was delicious though. The baked beans and mashed potatoes were great. The pulled pork and ribs already have BBQ sauce on them so don’t expect to get an array of sauces to slather on your meat. The BBQ sauce on the meat is very good, but it’s definitely more brown sugar BBQ sauce than vinegar.(I saw another reviewer comment on the sweetness of everything and I would concur. It’s not sickeningly sweet or bad; it’s actually very good. Just don’t expect any tangy BBQ.) Why only 4 stars you ask? The collard greens. While the flavor was good and perfectly tender, they were just a little too sweet for me. I like to get some of that collard green bitterness come through. Next time would like to try the brisket as it’s not on the buffet. And we will definitely be going back. Very good BBQ.

Had the buffet. What a steal at only $ 14.99! So many choices, all delicious. Fried chicken, Cesar Salad, corn on the cob, mac and cheese, perfectly seasoned string beans, and so much more. My friend had the baked beans and ribs and raved about them. You don’t have to save room for dessert, because they will pack up a piece of cake/pie to go. I had strawberry cake and my friend had pineapple upside down cake which were both delicious. Easy to get to on the Black Horse Pike. Will definitely go again.

Henri Hott’s has been our go-to BBQ joint for a few years now. We kept passing by on our way to the shore and finally stopped in one night. Henri & Co. make it known both verbally and with a sign on the door that they do not serve fast food, so expect a wait. Never been a problem for me or my family since the longest wait has been maybe 20 minutes or so. Everything you eat at Henri Hott’s is homemade from scratch. Every. Single. Thing. My personal favorites are the pulled pork, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and macaroni salad. My husband and I don’t eat out at a lot of BBQ places since we love to cook BBQ at home, however, Henri Hott’s does not even compare to any of the chains you’ll find in South Jersey *cough* Famous Dave’s *cough*. The best time to go, in my opinion, is Sunday afternoons when they feature their BBQ buffet. It’s always so hard to choose what to get on a normal day because everything they have is so delicious. But when they serve their buffet, you get a little(or a lot) of everything. They’re constantly refilling with fresh food and you’ll be stuffed to the brim for the rest of the day.

Thank you BBQ Gods! I passed this place for years before hearing from a friend how great it was, they weren’t lying! Service was fantastic with friendly smiling waitresses, our drinks never went empty. Thank you kitchen for providing delicious, fresh food you really know what your doing! Everything was great from the jerk chicken, baked ziti, corn cake to the cold crisp fruit salad! The meatloaf was just like grandmom used to make and the pulled pork with some burnt ends topped with their bbq sauce is out of this world! The crab bisque is more a crab soup but had nice pieces of jumbo lump crab with an amazing broth! The rolls are hot and soft and you get a nice piece of homemade desert to take to go! Everything was really a joy to taste. They have a cute sports theme with different pictures and memorabilia covering the walls of an old fashioned looking southern bbq joint. Motown playing in the background made you feel like you were at a family reunion! The weekend buffet is worth every penny for $ 14.95 and a nice drive along the way! I couldn’t thank the staff enough, we will definitely be back!

Looking for a barbecue place on the way to Atlantic City and we found this place. We ordered the barbecue chicken platter to share and it was more than enough with plenty to take home as well. I will be visiting again whenever I swing by.

EXCELLENT! Never knew this gem even existed until today and we live very close by. We got the buffet; complete with bbq, jerk and fried chicken, pulled pork, ribs, yams, greens, corn pudding, Mac & cheese, green beans, coleslaw, macaroni salad, etc. Everything we had was delicious; wonderfully seasoned and fresh. Staff was awesome. To my delight, we sat at a table(#4) with the Kansas City Chiefs curtain! That is my fav football team! Great place! Will be returning often!

South Jersey is a land completely void of BBQ. So everything is relative. Ever since Chef Charles closed his dine-in storefront close to 8 years ago, there hadn’t been an edible rib to be found. HOWEVER, I was very pleasantly surprised by Henri’s. I’m typically a salt & pepper rub, no sauce devotee(texas style). But Henri’s sauce didn’t make the fatal mistake most other BBQ chefs make: leaning too far toward tangy or sweet. It’s a really subtle sauce… and for a reason. It’s intended to compliment the meat, not overpower the flavor of the smoke and the meat itself. The pork shoulder was the same experience. Sure, there’s sauce. But it’s subtle — unlike the smoke flavor in Henri’s pork. That’s some of the strongest smoke flavor I’ve tasted, and that’s not a complaint. The collard greens are really simple. And by all accounts, they shouldn’t have been as good as they were. They’re not chopped up and mixed with burnt ends, bacon, etc. It’s *just* enough vinegar to cut through the bitterness of greens. Really basic, not too strong, and the greens had a much meatier bite than you’ll find most places. And as if finding decent BBQ in an area that simply doesn’t understand BBQ wasn’t enough, they sent me home with a portion too big to close the styrofoam container. It was easily enough to feed 4 people.

Amazing food and a unique family setting. Good service and great family atmosphere coupled with the MOSTAMAZINGBBQRIBS I have every had keeps me coming back. THe homeside sides are also AMAZING! WORTHTHEDRIVE BYOB should you desire. Be aware Sunday afternoons can get busy. The staff handles a crowd very well, however your own personal preferences for a busy vs quiet atmosphere are up in the air. Pros: Best food ever! Good luck finding better BBQ or clean cut family service. GOODPRICING Cons: I don’t love styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery, but honestly, it suits a messy hands on kind of food, and prob helps free up the staff to keep service moving. I really wish to see something more eco friendly but what can you do. Food and service make up for this. Atmosphere= Good parking, laid back casual small town vibe, sports memorabilia décor

Great baby back ribs and brisket. Sides were good too. Try the combo platter… it’s big enough for two! Came back for the Sunday buffet. Please try everything! It’s all good. The peach cobbler is amazing!

Amazing Food and Friendly Attentive Service! I’m so glad I came here today, the food is so good that this is going to become a regular thing! I’m sitting here now with the juiciest fried chicken I’ve ever had! And I don’t even eat white meat AND I’m eating it without hot sauce… thats how good it is! Ribs, pulled pork, chicken, greens, mac n cheese, potato salad, crab bisque, and on and on the list goes… Fresh, tasty, seasoned… just so delicious! I love the fried chicken, the potato salad is great, the greens are deceiving! I thought they were plain and was hesitant but they are wonderfully seasoned! Mac n Cheese smoky… Service from EVERYONE was attentive and friendly. I’m so impressed with this place! I’m going to make this a regular stop and tell everyone to come here

Holy Cow! What a gem in South Jersey. This place is totally amazing! The Buffett was all so good. The food is made with love, the environment is such a homie feel. The servers are awesome and the owners are terrific! Can’t explain how awesome the experience and this place is. Though it’s 40 minutes from Philly I will definitely be revisiting this place.

I cannot yet say that this is my favorite barbecue ever because they were out of pulled pork, and to me, the BBQ crown is given based on pulled pork. That being said, I will be going back very soon to confirm what my first meal is telling me. Absolutely amazing! MEAT: Ribs(pork) were terrific: deep smoke flavor, moist meat. I got so excited when I went to pull my first bone of the slab and a clean bone came off without any meat on it. That is the definition of meat falling off the bone. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy chicken that could easily be picked off the bone. Often I don’t order chicken at BBQ places, but it is delicious if that is your thing. SAUCE: Sweet, thick, molasses(or more likely brown sugar) Texas style sauce. This is saucy BBQ and everything is pre sauced and wet. This isn’t usually my style of sauce if given a choice, but this is sauce that can convert you. There is Crystal hot sauce and Tabasco if you want to add a bit of heat to your meat. Side note: I appreciate that they have Crystal, as I much prefer it to Tabasco, it also increases the southern credibility. SIDES: TERRIFIC! While I am not going to say that the collards are better than my girlfriend’s grandmother’s(I know better than that) they were absolutely terrific. Smokey, meaty, and sweet without being greasy. The cole slaw was sweeter than I like, but it was a drier, stringier cole slaw which I love. I can’t wait to try the slaw with the pulled pork. The mashed yams were wonderful. Sweet, with some pie seasoning in there, without being toooo sweet. I had to stop myself from eating them in one giant bite. Potato salad was some of the best mayonnaise based potato salad that I’ve had. Relish, pepper, egg, onions… it was all good. Potatoes were soft, great texture. The cornbread(more savory than sweet) was a little dry for my taste, but nothing that sopping up a bit of meat juice can’t fix. SERVICE: Even though they were incredibly busy, everyone was super friendly and hospitable. You can tell that this is a family owned place and that there is a lot of care put into everything. This place is homey and simple. If there are no tables, it’s worth even getting it to go and eating on the hood of your car. $ 30 for two people to stuff themselves silly.(chicken platter and rib platter) NOTE: If you are coming from a distance, I’d call before making the trek, as they keep odd hours and sometimes close inexplicably.
