Upon arrival I was greeted by a thin brunette in her 30s. She had a scowl on her face and seemed to scoff at my hardships. She was rude and displayed no compassion. I also took note of how friendly she was with her male counterparts, it seemed highly unprofessional. I was determined not to let this effect my recovery. A TA named zebus tossed my bag like I was a prison inmate, I had neatly folded everything and it looked like a laundry hamper when he was done. I almost expected him to put on rubber gloves when dealing with me, he was very cold and made me feel like I was less than he was. It was later in the day so I was directed to eat dinner and relax. I noticed quite a few bugs in the cafeteria and it was not very clean(everyone has a standard of clean, my high school cafeteria was cleaner). My room was adequate to say the least. Good size for the situation. Somewhat dirty. The next day I met my counselor Brendan. He was kind and compassionate. He was the only good part of my experience while I was there. The nurses all together had attitude problems. It seemed so mechanical the way they handled us. Like they were better than us. When I asked my TA to help just sit and talk to me for a while he rushed through the conversation to go flirt with the girl at the front desk. I just felt like I was only important when I was in Brendan’s office being treated like a human being. If the staff there had been doing their jobs instead of wanting to go home(or home with a coworker) my experience there would have been much more positive. I am currently seeking help elsewhere because this facility did not deliver on its promise to me as a client.

This place has always been awsome for a member of my family suffering from addiction. Brian who does intake, great, big mike head of counseling, great., and many others that work there. They are so gracious, kind, and understanding… Except for a mean nasty women to put it nicely. Her name is Linda she is the finance manager. Wow her picture should be next to the word nasty in the dictionary she is awful… We were so taken back on how cold and Kurt she was. It makes us very sad that they would keep such a horrible person like her working there. Family’s that have a member suffering from addiction, are also suffering and are going through a tough time. This individual I cant even call her a person, should be fired!!! And the owner should know how awful she is.

A friend went to LICR for a 30-day alcohol rehab program(although his insurance only let him stay 2 weeks, the inhumane bastards) and he had nothing but good things to say about his experience. I spoke to most of the people there and they were all very nice, very experienced and passionate about helping addicted people. LICR even sends cars to pick up patients-a wonderful service I’ve NEVER even heard of before. I read the literature they gave my friend and it was interesting and practical. They don’t preach AA, but there are certain similar principles, of course, and that’s fine, but there is no pushing of religion. They also recognize that every single alcoholic or addict is DIFFERENT. My friend’s only complaint was that, at least during his stay, the population of about 40 patients was comprised of mostly young pill addicts and only a few other mature alcoholics, but hey, it’s always hit or miss on something like that.
