Reviewing a security company may just be a little out of the box for me. I suppose I need a break-in so that I can have an experience on how good they are? My experiences with security companies have been crap over the years. Trying to reach someone at Vector has been a pain in the ass. ADT bought out Vector and I spent 30 minutes bouncing from line to line trying to get information about my contract. Sure, these folks give you a free system but when the alarm system goes ape nuts and you need someone to come on site it’s just a headache to deal with. So this time around I decided to go with a local company. You take away the idea of having a central call center system to assist you but when the day is done you just want the firefighter or cops at your door when you need them. I ended up having to pay for the alarm panel. Digital Security is based out of Hampton and while they lack all the glamour of a national company, I believe they are reliable in what I need of them… a system to work if there’s a break-in and someone to dispatch the right people when needed. The other day I forgot to turn off my alarm before opening the back door to let the dogs outside. The alarm went off and within seconds I received a phone call making sure everything was okay. So in this particular instance if things weren’t okay I knew that I would have the po po at my door right away. Bill, the owner, even advised me on getting motion lights as this often deters break-ins. I only opted for basic security but they do offer other services such as CCTC cameras, intercom systems, VOIP, and various music/speaker systems.
