Carolyn, Chuck and I want to send a big Thank You to Kirstin and Kevin for their hospitality when we visited on April 23rd Jailhouse Brewing was an impulse stop while visiting Atlanta; we found it listed in a ‘Georgia Eats’ brochure we got at the Welcome Center. Our visit to Jailhouse Brewing has been the highlight of our cross country trip. We loved all the brews: Alibi, Cooler, Conjugal Visit, Jailhouse, Slammer Wheat, Misdemeanor Ale, and Mugshot IPA. I prefer Wheat and Porter so my loving everything, especially the IPA, is a sincere compliment. Kirstin gave a very informative tour explaining the history of the community, the building(yes it was a jail), the types of beers, how they are made, and the brewing method and philosophy of Jailhouse Brewing. We enjoyed sampling the craft beers in their court yard complete with corn hole games and a BBQ food truck. I wish the distribution area included my hometown, but I understand Jailhouse’s commitment to maintain the integrity of their vision and salute them for not selling out like a certain former craft brewer in my community. We visited a package store and purchased several six-packs to keep us company during the trip home. If you love good beer and hanging out with genuinely nice people you’d like to have as neighbors, Jailhouse Brewing is well worth a visit! Again, thank you Kirstin and Kevin!

This brewery rocks! Love the tour!!! Managed to find a little time after working at the Speedway to squeeze in a visit and we were not disappointed. Great beer, great people and awesome history. Nice to see a historical landmark living on with a breath of new life in it.

This place rocks! Came here for the tour and tasting and it was their 6th anniversary celebration. We got 6 beers, a six-pack to go and brisket and pork all for $ 20. Such a deal and such great beer! We’ll be back for sure!

We visited this little brewery on a Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to find a very laid back, craft beer culture in the middle of what I assumed to be nowhere. The owners– a husband-wife team– are excellent. They provide the tours, pours, and snacks while enjoying their beers. Corn hole was provided on their patio as well an attempt at a burn/smoke barrel. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable in their brewery even on the chlliest of days, and I felt like guest in their home rather than a visitor at a brewery. They had 6 beers on tap on Saturday ranging from a dark breakfast stout to a imperial red. I really enjoyed their IPA as well as a farmhouse saison. It was cold drinking outside and perhaps I was missing some notes of flavor because I was so frigid, but none of the beers had that wow-complex-4D flavor profile to me. We had a wonderful time and I would certainly recommend it to anyone in the area or wanting a break from the bustle of ITP.

Tiny but delightful. Very good brews and a large courtyard with holey board and picnic tables to enjoy them in. The usual take away glasses with the logo on them to enjoy them in, and the taps were set up in the courtyard.(These glasses are startnig to overrun our cabinets, so a purge is in order!) It was getting a little cool as the sun went down on Thanksgiving weekend, but we were glad we stopped on the way to Atlanta and enjoyed these delicious brewskis!

What a great place! Great vibe at this Thursday’s «visitation!» Brewer Kevin(and the rest of them) make awesome beer and demonstrate southern hospitality to all who walk through the gate. I walked in expecting to taste a beer, buy a glass, and be on my way. Kevin had other plans. Brewers, regulars and first timers alike created a great atmosphere, and before I knew it I’d been there for two hours. I haven’t had that much fun in ages. Can’t wait for my next trip to Atlanta so I can visit the Jailhouse again!

Solid brewery tour of a roll up your sleeves and go to work brewer. Jailhouse does 2 beers i like Slammer Wheat and Breakout Stout in this rather small brewery space. You pay $ 10 get your glass and go through the brewery to the courtyard where there is an outdoor bar serving 4 beers on draft and one in bottles. The courtyard could use some shade but you can stand in the brewery as well to escape the sun. They have corn hole setup and some bleachers as well. The tour is one brewer talking in the small brewery space. We had Chris and he was knowledgable and answered every question. They can’t sell beer in growlers, but across the street/alley there is a shop that sells their beer in growlers and bottles along with wine, antiques and cheese.

Had a great time visiting the brewery! Standared OPS, $ 10 for a glass and wristband for 4 beers. They served a bit more than required and thanks for that! A live band made it fun but the area is a bit small. The tour is well done and outstanding. The JailHouse beers are very good, my favorites are Repreive and Misdemeanor Ale

Great atmosphere with great beer! $ 10 gets you a pint glass and 4 half pint tastings. The tour goes into detail about the brewing process from raw hops and barley to the bottle or keg.

I went to Jailhouse Brewery this past weekend for a chili cook off. I paid $ 10.00 and was given a signature JB glass, 4 poker chips and 1 ticket to count as my vote for the winning chili. The poker chips were to be used to get beer and while we didn’t try all the chili, as a lot of was already out but we did abuse the poker chip fun a little bit too much! The patio area was packed with a live band, tables full of chili pots and people dancing and talking. While I am not usually a fan of beer, I loved their mango and chili beer. Yes, you read correctly, mango beer and chili beer-not mixed together, people, separate! JB version of Guiness was delicious. I gave up the most tokens going back for that one! Jailhouse Brewery Beer is sold in some of the local stores too. I only wish they were closer or I’d be here every weekend. Fun crowd!

I am a beer snob. Everything about this place is unique. The names, the taste, the location. Glenn is the owner and you just can’t ask for a better and nicer guy. Saturday’s you can take a tour and sample their product. My favorite is the stout.

Cool place and worth the drive from the big city! A little on the smallish side, but hey, they are a small operation. You would never know from the amount of places where you can find Jailhouse but that means they are going it right! I had never been to Hampton before so was not sure what we were getting ourselves into… it was not much. Hampton is probably best know for Atlanta Motor Speedway but the downtown area is small and quaint, think Mayberry. Thus, the brewery was real easy find. The ‘tour’ is just basically walking into the back room where the have their vats for the wert boiling and fermentation process and drinking beer. They have an old stand-up cooler in the back that holds 4 small kegs and taps. You get 4 samples for $ 8 which includes a pint glass. The beer was pretty damn good! On tap, they had the Stout, Slammer Wheat, Misdemeanor Ale and the IPA. My favorite was the Ale but all were very unique in flavor. The Stout had a nice hint of chocolate, the IPA was not overloaded with hops and was easy going. The wheat was the best to beat the heat with… man it was toasty the day we went. They have a side area(looked like small courtyard) off to the side but the door was closed because it was just too hot outside. The staff & owners were extremely friendly and easy to talk to. We just walked up and started asking questions and chatting about their operation like it was no big deal. They have a small area up front where you can buy some swag… i noticed beer coasters, t-shirts, and the like. All in all, this was a great way to spend a Saturday!

Having been to many other microbreweries, I had built in my mind a set of expectations based on previous experiences. Going to Jailhouse completely redefined the«micro» in «microbrewery». It is tiny — And I mean tiny! There is a small entryway where you pay $ 10 for your tasting glass(which you take home) and four tokens for samples, which is fitting because they had four beers on tap — Misdemeanor, Breakout Stout, Slammer Wheat, and the IPA. All of their beer is DELICIOUS(which is why we made the 50-minute trek from Atlanta). After that small entryway, you walk between the tanks to the back of the brewery, where there is about 200 ft of standing room maybe? I’m bad at numbers. No tables, chairs, or décor — this is as basic as it gets. There is no brewery tour, because you literally see the entire thing as you walk in. But they still do an informal gather-’round-and-hear-about-our-beer presentation about how the beer is made, etc. The guys working there were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the beer and the little town where the brewery is located. I asked if they had plans for expansion, and they said yes — so here’s hoping! It was a fun experience and definitely worth the drive from ATL. It can’t really be compared to other breweries because Jailhouse was so vastly different just because of its size — don’t expect the elbow-to-elbow crowds you’d see at Sweetwater or Ommegang. Don’t expect the seating options and cornhole games you’d find at Red Brick or Terrapin. Expect a tiny, cozy, intimate atmosphere, and expect amazing beer!

Generally have a selection of four beers on tap. I tried the Misdemeanor(asstastic), I skipped the IPA(I have a history with IPA that is sordid, violent, and unsavory), the Wheat(very tasty), and the stout(my favorite). The owner pours em up for you, and he is friendly and knowledgeable. I love the fact that this place is truly micro and local. Bonus: the brewery is housed in an old jail(thus, the name) and all the beers have catchy jail-related names. The barleywine was also available for sample, and I absolutely hated it. Wheat and stout ftw. Interesting fact: you don’t buy beer here, you buy a GLASS and get«free» samples due to archaic and crazy ordinances.
