Loved the food. I had the crab legs and everything came out right. I will be going back for their crab specials.

Crabcake sandwich was great! Haven’t had any better even at highend restaurants. Really. Hubby had shrimp which was plentiful and tasty. Not a bad bar but people smoke. In. The. Bar. Wtf.

Stillwater has a great location. But for restaurant week(RW) they were not on there a game for food quality. My wife and both choose from the RW menu the salad was good the dressing was good also. For not being a true she crab soup(no brandy) it was good(the did say it was just like she crab minus the sherry) But nothing to say there the best in town which they don’t say. My wife had the crab legs they were small cluster had to really figure out if it was a true pound or not the bake potato was bad(like frozen or something) they didn’t even give us really butter(my wife has a fit when fake butter is served). The butter didn’t even melt when on a warm potato. My crab cake was just ok nothing to really talk about. The veggies were to not cooked right some soft some felt like just picked out of the garden. But ok the dessert was great some kind of Oreo churros my wife had a key lime pie that was over tart. If someone asked me what I ate last night I most likely wouldn’t remember this place. I’m going to give them another chance but it will be a little before I do. While I’m typing this the wife is hurling from the grease… Hey great music but that’s the thanks to the table next to us keep throwing money in the machine.

So lived in HR for about 12+ years and never heard of this place. I found it because I wanted to see Drag Queens and didn’t want to drive to Richmond or VaBeach… I was apprehensive since it was unassuming and located in Hampton but so happy I gave it a shot. Loads of parking, not an issue whatsoever. Staff was friendly, efficient and on point for sure. The menu is bar food with a good amount of seafare additions. My friend ordered a steam shrimp basket and I order a pound of scallops. I enjoyed both throughly and for the prices while a little on the expensive side at least it was delicious… and again it’s seafood so can’t complain. The fries that accompanied the shrimp were a little sad, they looked boxed and greasy. The drinks were a little weak, too but the service made up for it truly. Décor wise, I was surprised they would hold a drag show. I think if it hadn’t been for the show I probably wouldn’t have gone in. There was nothing exciting about the place. Metal chairs, long conference like tables and oddly place tables doesn’t give it a warm tavern feel… more like a frat house. The seating is strange, I sat near the back so it was hard to see the show going on and also I sat next to a electronic fireplace so I was hot the entire time. The performers put on a good show, they did their best to work the room which I was happy about but again the layout is not advantageous to performing. Overall? Decent seafood, energetic staff. Probably wouldn’t go here on a regular day though.

This is my jam!(It can be yours, too, if you add a buck to the jukebox) I was introduced to this bar probably back in December but I hadn’t been in it long enough to actually form a well rounded opinion. I have yet to try the food(I will hopefully this Friday!!) so I am writing based on the beer, drinks, and atmosphere. Stillwater is the venue you go to and instantly become friends with everyone there. I am a shy person but I have made a lot of great acquaintances here through my awesome friend who keeps bringing me back. The bartenders are very sweet and personable, I adore Victoria and I also love the owner who can be seen walking around making sure everyone is having a good time. They have weekly scheduled activities which include paint nite, poker, karaōke, bands, and now DRAGSHOWS! ONTHEPENINSULA?! NOTINRICHMOND?! YESSSSS!!! Back down to planet earth from my excitement. I have been during poker night as an observer and enjoyed it. I have been during a band on a Friday night and that was a ton of fun. LOUD but it’s a bar at night and it’s a band, to be expected. The drag show was the best I’ve seen! I enjoy that the performers are up close and personal walking around to the onlookers instead of performing on a stage away from people like most places I’ve been. Get there early so you can get a good seat! There’s bar games, darts, pool tables and a jukebox music player shaped like an MP3 player that also takes credit cards. I was surprised at the music selection. from Fetty to Slipknot it seems to have everything far and in between. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked(men, womens, unisex) and there is an ATM machine in the hall of the bathroom. Credit card minimum is $ 10. The drinks I’ve gotten were very good and strong. Cranvodka runs about 6 bucks. Draft bud-lights are 3 or so dollars and always refreshing, no skunky beer here! Fireball shots are 5.50, I believe. If you have a question about the prices just ask. This place does do event pricing so the drinks are a bit higher in price, which sucks, but it’s expected. I probably won’t drink so much at the next show because of it. Get there Friday 7 – 9 and partake in $ 1 fireball shots. They have other specials during that time, too, but fireball is where it’s at for me. I have seen the food that has come out(chicken tenders, fries, wings, mushrooms) and it all smells good. They have some fancier seafood options but since I’m there for the nightlife my taste would be for fried goodies. I’ve waited a while to post a review because I haven’t eaten the food yet but once I go back I’ll take photos of the inside and honestly review the food. I don’t get out a whole lot but when I do get a free night this is where I want to spend my time. I haven’t found any other place in the area bar wise that I wasn’t a nervous wreck at.

So I’m been an on off customer of stillwater for a couple years now. Honestly had a couple mishaps however would always give them another chance. One time I was there and because the ketchup was kept out of the cooler, when I went to us it. Exploded all over me and ruined my shirt. Not a sorry or let me take something off your bill for that. However this time, I go to the drag show, which let me tell you was fantastic, to find out the 3 «double» melon sours I ordered and an order of corn dog bites comes to $ 55. I told the waitress I was billed for 7 drinks, she takes back and comes back with it saying that I was billed for doubles(now shows 6) @$ 6.50 a shot for $ 13 a drink. Every where else in town I get a tall glass and the same for $ 5(smokey bones, park lane, outback) I honestly feel completely ripped off, and drag show or not, I will not be back.

Great, friendly atmosphere! Come for trivia and karaōke on Thursday nights! Great drink specials and a fantastic menu! The nachos are mountainous and the drinks are full. Victoria, behind the bar, will always help make an experience memorable!

Awesome spot, came back a few times and will continue to do so. Food is really good, as are their specials. Staff is friendly and personable. Vaping is allowed at the bar area and pool tables currently, which is a bonus for us folks trying to quit smoking. They have a sweet pool room, darts, and karaōke on thursdays, art classes on sundays, so there I am thoroughly entertained and have a place to take my friends.

The staff was very nice but the drinks were weak and poorly made, to the point where we couldn’t take more than two sips. The food was greasy, lacking flavor, and just not very appetizing. I barely ate anything(and this is coming from a foodie fat kid!) very disappointed

Really tiny restaurant that looks quite unassuming from the outside, but it’s quite quaint and spacious inside! Has a very distinctive local tavern feeling which is refreshing! We had a very attentive server, and our food was fantastic. I had the surf and turf(steak and shrimp) and clam chowder. The entrée was great, as the steak was well-prepared and seasoned nicely and the shrimp was succulent — and the clam chowder was delicious! The restaurant seems to attract a local crowd who are all very nice, and there was even a painting night happening the day we were there. Overall, a great spot! Can’t wait to go back next time I’m in the area!

This is some of the worst food I have eaten in Hampton. I’ve been there twice now, and have sampled 2 burgers, she crab soup, chicken tenders, nachos, and onion rings. I’m not sure what’s up with the positive reviews on here, possibly the owners or people that know the owners? No one in my group was pleased with what we were served. I’ll go into detail about the food below, but as a quick summary, this place needs to find a cook who knows how to make even the simplest of food. Stillwater Tavern in surrounded by awesome restaurants in Downtown Hampton– want better burgers? Go to Taphouse. Want better seafood? Go to Conch and Bucket. Want better pub food? Go to Venture. Want better chicken tenders? Honestly, pick any fast food place. If Stillwater wants to compete with these places, it either needs to improve quality to justify its price point, or just settle for making cheaper food to appeal to a different crowd. Food specifics: Chicken Tenders– The absolute worst I’ve ever had. The chicken was beyond dry, and chewy and hard to swallow. The breading was not heavy but not flavorful and the over-frying made it taste even drier. I ordered three dipping sauces with this, and none of them helped. Wine– The wine smelled rancid. When the waitress brought it over, I could smell its sourness from 3 feet away, and it tasted almost as bad as it smelled. I have no idea how long that bottle has been open. I switched to gin and tonic after that, which was heavy on the tonic. Nachos– Is it possible to mess up nachos? Yes, yes it is. The tortilla chip is homemade and each plate comes with about 6 nachos total. While the chip itself is ok, it’s covered with the same dry, chewy chicken, un-melted cheese, tomatoes, and iceberg lettuce. No salsa, no sour cream, no flavor. Without melted cheese or sauce, there is nothing to make the topping stick to the nachos so it’s impossible to eat, and the whole thing costs $ 8 for 6 ‘nachos’. She Crab Soup– Not sure if they use actual crab in the soup or not, since there wasn’t any in there. I had one spoonful of the soup and passed; it had a bad taste. On top of that, the Oyster Crackers were really, really stale. Did anyone know that those things even went bad? I mean how long have they had to have those around for them to go stale? Burgers– These were very mediocre and came missing toppings and were overcooked. I really don’t understand how you can mess up cooking a burger, but this place has done it.

Great place to stop in for lunch at before a meeting. The burger was good and so were the onion rings. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. The food also came out quick. Really, no complaints. I would definitely come back next time I am in town. There was also a well stocked bar but I did not partake since I was working.

Came in for a quick bite before going to the VA Air and Space Museum. Was pleasantly surprised by the assortment of seafood related fare. The 5 – 0 burger was awesome! My wife had the Hog(pulled pork wrap), she said it was good but very spicy. Pulled pork with jalapeños. I tried it and thought it was good, with a jalapeños bite. Nice friendly staff very close to parking.

Came in for a quick bite with my daughter before an IMAX movie. Sign on the door said«kid friendly», reviews were decent, so, why not?! Service from Kim was great. Very attentive. We ordered one cup of she crab soup and the nacho special. She crab had a kick but, was soooooo good!!! My picky 9yr old REALLY loved the soup. Nachos were on a smaller plate… the thing that makes this dish are the chips! Chips are fresh fried flour tortillas! Never had nachos served like this anywhere else! Good stuff… so fattening but oh well. :) Daughter and I were both satisfied!

Super bummed… went there on a whim thinking it’d be great for Friday food And drinks. Went around 7 with two other couples couple(6 total, not busy at all yet, two people at the bar and 3 playing pool) Got the beer special which was good, one girl ordered a watermelon martini, but there was no puckerso couldn’t get it, another got Malibu and pineapple which the pineapple was sour,.we ordered the coconut shrimp side of baked potato and veggies, the flounder that was in special. A side of veggies and baked potato also, fish and chips, crab cake sandwich with fries. Cheeseburger with fries, and the other just ordered an app our mushrooms. well after an hour and twenty or thirty mins our waitress tells us the chef says he’s sorry he’s taking so long here are some onion rings and mozzarella sticks(sticks were good, rings were literally dripping grease) also telling us there was only one potato for a baked potato left so he chose fries instead. our food come out about 30 – 40 mins later(waited 2 hours and some for our food) everything that was fried was completely over fried. coconut shrimp was brownish black, almost no meat, flounder was way over fried. almost no meat, friends fish was over fried, fried were over seasoned so most were left. veggies were obviously frozen and heated up and baked Potato had no toppings. When we asked for condiments waitress said“you guys sure are needy“ The atmosphere walking in was ok, I noticed how bright it was inside walking up, but the bar area was a little more mellow,. no music was playing so it was quiet for a while but they do offer a jukebox. They have one billiard and two dart stations, maybe 4 but the other two were right next to the pool table someone was playing at. I wouldn’t go back but I’ll end this on a good note saying the beer wasn’t bad.

The hubby and I needed a quick place to eat before catching an IMAX film across the street at the Air and Space Center. We weren’t really expecting a lot, because the place looked closed, but we noticed the OPEN sign flashing. We were impressed by their beer selection– lots to choose from on tap and bottled. The waitress quickly rattled off what was available and was super friendly. My husband ordered wings after asking her about the flavor choices. I ordered the appetizer combo. I asked her to leave off the jalapeño poppers, since I don’t like them and I hate to waste food. She offered to add extra mozzarella sticks instead. I could see the guy working in the kitchen from our table. The kitchen looked spotless! I was expecting typical frozen and fried food, but I was pleasantly surprised. I started with the onion rings. OMG, they tasted just like the ones my Grandma used to make when we had a fish fry. The fries were hand cut, as well; they were seasoned with Old Bay and were fabulous. The wings were fresh and meaty, to boot. I noticed that they have a kids’ menu, so I’d bring the kids in here for a meal after visiting the Air & Space Center. They have karaōke, a juke box, dart boards, flat screen TVs, etc. for entertainment. They also have a small outdoor seating area.

They have great beer on tap. We ordered Oysters on the half shell and three of them had ghost crabs in them! We also had the crab cake sandwich and it was so good it didn’t need tartar or anything. They have a pool table and juke box too!
