This has been my favorite bar in Detroit since moving here 2 years ago, mainly because there were never more than 10 people there at once. And I wasn’t going to blow up the most chill spot in Detroit, so no review. They had me hooked. The bar had an Atari set up, a pool table, sometimes a DJ playing his or her personal record collection, and all the cheap beer and good conversation you could want. So when they decided to renovate a little I was turned off a bit. But I’ve come to terms with the changes, and kind of embraced it. They installed 4 beer taps, a flat screen TV, have regular DJs and sometimes a band playing live music. I think they even take credit cards now. All this change has only led to a larger crowd on a Friday or Saturday night, which they’ve added a second bartender to accommodate. Best of all, the crowd hasn’t changed. It’s still a healthy alternative to the open shirts and fist pumping of Royal Oak. So here you go Atlas. 5 stars for doing what you do best. Serving people alcohol without being pretentious about it. Keep it up and I’ll keep coming to Hamtramck to see you.

Great dive bar! This was one of our many stops on Fat Tuesday in Hamtown. We had a lot of fun here. Great ambiance, cheap drinks, clean, clean bathrooms, awesome music. Only downer was the bartender wasn’t super nice or super observant. Aside from that I’ll totally be back!
