If Hamtramck had a Cheers, this place would be it. It’s a Moose so it is members only except during the fish frys in the Lenten season as well as the Paczki Day breakfast. We most recently attended a Friday Fish Fry and I was presently surprised but the dinner did come highly recommended from several locals. When you arrive you stop at a desk and prepay your meal. You have about 10 choices of fish, shrimp, pasta, etc. Each dinner comes with soup, bread and dessert. Portions were generous all around regardless of what you order. Food quality is better than average and in my opinion, this is the best fish fry in town. Service is an all volunteer army of people who just want to make your experience the best it can be. They’re all good people and I met more of my neighbors by going. If they’ll have me, and Erik M. will sponsor me, I’d like to become a member!

The Hamtramck Moose Lodge is home to a huge membership base, an amazing bar, a passionate community, and a ton of awesome cooks. I regularly come for the Friday Fish Fries(which are amazing), for sports(several TVs in the lodge help with viewability), and for Taco Night(the best tacos in town!) Nadine and Kevin made some badass tacos, alongside of amazing homemade salsas and a variety of cookies and desserts. Trivia nights have started recently, and I’d love to see them gain more traction. You’ll surely have an interesting discussion or two with a lifetime Hamtramckan(or a newer one looking to make connections) and find out what is happening in city council, around the city, and with our beloved Detroit teams. The active membership base allows for a lot of opportunities for fundraising, and this little lodge with a heart seems to have it down pretty well, following the motto«Cook it and they will come». Did I mention the drink prices are super cheap?
