Great craft beer selection. Steve(the owner) is very knowledgeable and stays on top of new beer that is being released. Would highly recommend this store!

Steve’s is a phenomenal place to buy craft beer in quantities large and small. What I find most impressive about the products are freshness, which matters quite a bit. You’ll find dust on beer in some places, but never here. The variety is impressive as well, with great representation from all of Michigan’s major craft breweries(Short’s, Bell’s, Oddside, Darkhorse, etc.), and quite a few other nationally recognized ones. Prices are extremely reasonable, and you get what you pay for. I’ve ordered a keg of craft beer for a special event at a great rate with excellent customer service. When I travel to see friends and family out of state, I always visit here beforehand to pick up a case to share. Stop in and see for yourself!

In this day and age, with seemingly every corner liquor store selling some sort of craft beer and most of them advertising that they sell it, it’s getting harder to find the truly quality beer stores out there. Steve’s is most definitely one of them. Besides an amazing selection, they listen to and know their customers. Just the other day, Steve’s impressed me yet again by revealing that they aged a few cases of Founders Imperial Stout since last year and were putting out 2014 and 2015 stock out together(but distinctly labeled) for the same price. Well done. Beyond the beer, Steve’s is the classic«party store» of the Detroit area and that is awesome. Very good liquor selection, solid wine lineup, chips what else do you need? Plus you also get to enjoy things like watching five people try to pool their money together to get the biggest bottle of Patron they can get only to then ask for 5 plastic cups. This has been my go to party store since I moved to Hamtramck in the late 90s. Steve’s rules.

Hands down the best craft beer store in Hamtramck/Detroit. Amazing selection and the best prices. My go-to store for all my craft beer needs.

The 3 reviews before me are pretty accurate. Quite an interesting store! This store was recommended by several people for craft beer, so I stopped by on my way to get my hair done. This place is huge, which I didn’t expect. It’s very bright with high ceilings. I was there for the craft beer. I quickly looked down a few aisles as I made my way towards the other side of the store. They really do have a little bit of everything, including clothing! The craft beer selection is great. Big coolers and a big variety on the shelves. Everything can be purchased as singles too. Prices are mostly fair and competitive from what I saw. This is probably the best store to go to for craft beer in Hamtramck. Ask for Steven(not Steve, that’s «Dad»). He’s the guy who handles the craft beer and he’s doing a great job. He spent time telling me all about their beer, pricing, and how they appreciate customers. Steve is excited about craft beer and it shows. He’ll take care of you. I’ll definitely be stopping in before I get my hair done in the future.

Steve’s started as a joke for me. This weird little place right off the highway looks like a standard beaten-down liquor store, one of the thousands in Detroit. Signs advertise«lowest liquor prices» just like everyone else. Hood rats hang out in the lot in their cars and chainsmoke cigarettes, which they deposit in piles in the lot. I’m used to all of this sort of thing, but that doesn’t mean it’s attractive. I avoided it for that reason and took my business to other more friendly-looking establishments. When my friends moved in near Steve’s, I had no choice. Inside the store is a revelation. Huge ceilings, mirrors all over the back wall, and tons of beers, wines and snacks. The worst kind of snacks. The snacks you eat when you just don’t care anymore. The local riffraff are also in here, doing the same thing you’re doing(and don’t pretend that you look any classier while you’re doing it). I’ve been sung to and had short strange conversations about dogs with other people while waiting in line here. If you think that’s strange, imagine that situation when you have run out of beer and need more at 1:30 am. They recently started stocking craft beers, and they’re doing a damn good job. They have Bell’s, Founders, North Peak, Short’s, Oddside, Greenbush and a smattering of other michigan and other well-known craft beers, and you can mix and match for a 6 pack of reasonable price. I can say without hesitation that this is the best spot for craft beers in Hamtramck right now(Rock and Roll has tons of beer, but half of it is old). Staff might give you a funny look when you first come in. Let’s be honest, you deserve that. After you get over it, they’re pretty friendly and helpful — just don’t get too distracted by the high ceilings while you check out.

Steve’s is a Hamtramck landmark. «Turn right at Steve’s.» Good staff, OK prices, a huge selection of beer, wine, and liquor. This place is popular and is usually chock-full of people on weekend evenings. The parking lot is a little tiny when they are busy, so the parking situation gets a little weird. This place is a bizarre format for a liquor store. Why are the ceilings at 18 feet? Make sure you look up in here, above the counter area on the West side of the room are some interesting mix of giant holiday/beer promo stuff.

STEVE’S! What a crazy place. They’ve got everything a Hamtramck drunkard could want/need… You want a VHS copy of The Little Mermaid? You got it. Bling for your iPhone case? No problem. How about a birthday card for your mom? They have that too. Not to mention food and booze. They could stand to beef up their Michigan beer selection a bit, but they do have way more wine than you would expect from a place like this. Things can get a little rowdy here as it gets late! Their liquor selection is great and the prices are very reasonable — not to mention everyone who works there is freaking awesome! Steve’s rocks!
