For our trip to Hana, Maui, HI, may wife and I along with my brother and his wife rented out this beautiful home. The house is located just outside of Hana Town on the east side of Maui. It’s located by mile marker 36 on the mind wrenching Hana Highway. If you’re headed each on the Hana Highway, it’ll be a left turn shortly after the«Aloha — Welcome to Hana» sign. There will be a white sign with Three H’s(HHH) on the left leading into a private drive. The drive is about 3 – 4 car lengths long leading to an open shed type garage to park your vehicle. There is only one parking spot. From the outside, the house looks like a simple ranch style home with a grayish paint job. The house is built on brick stilts and is only one level. There is a bridged walkway to the home with a number lock. Once the code is punched in and you walk in through the front doors, the home’s inside is gorgeous. There are two bedrooms, the master suite and the guest room, both with access to the bathing/shower room with a Jack & Jill bathroom setup. Each bathroom has access to the bathing/shower room as well as another door way to the outside shower and onto the porch. The master bedroom had access to the mosquito netted lanai sitting area, which in turn has a door to the porch. The bathing room is tiled from floor to ceiling and has a large Kohler tub, along with a rainfall shower head. The living room has a smaller 42″ LCDTV with Time Warner Cable and there is wireless in the home. The kitchen is immaculate with a generous stainless range with a center grittle surface like those at the Hibachi restaurants. Also the refrigerator is the two door freezer on bottom type and there is a large under mounted sink. There is also laundry on site. As for the surroundings, the house is on 8 acres, covered with banana, avocado, macadamia nut, lime, orange, papaya, and mango trees. We were able to pick the ripened papayas to make fresh papaya salsa. Also, there is a little river that flows through the acreage. We were lucky enough to see the water roar through the river when it down poured on us on the way in. Flash flood… The home is very secluded in its own private lot of trees, but if you venture beyond the trees to the property line, you will see the neighbors… so do keep the noise level down. My only gripe about this place was that there were no curtains. I understand that the home is secluded, but it still creeps me out when there are no curtains to close in the guest bedroom as well as the bathroom. The toilets are positioned across the door that goes outside to the outdoor shower… but those doors have large windows… I don’t see an issue if it’s just a couple, but I just don’t like people looking in on me while I’m doing my business. Over all, this home still revives a 5 star rating in my book. I loved the home and the seclusion. Beautiful gem in the wilderness of Hana.
