If you’re on the road to Hana, two gems which were there end of OCT2011(but I had never seen previously) were the«Coconut Buns» at a small unmanned stand and the various lilikoi at the«Real Chinese Food» place. NOTE1: Not coconut bread or bars or anything else, just the buns. Look like little muffins, but sooo delicious and filling. Totally worth the $ 1.50. Totally. NOTE2: Don’t get the food at the Chinese place, just the fresh fruit. They carried 3 types of lilikoi(passion fruit) – the normal Hawaii kind, a variety that is GIANT [I didn’t even believe her that it was lilikoi, it was bigger than a LARGE papaya] with large seeds and super jucy, and Jamaican passion fruit(which I think you can also sometimes get at the Kailua farmer’s market on Oahu) which is much sweeter than normal lilikoi(technically, I guess, it isn’t as tart as other varieties).
