Wow! the food is great and affordable. The downside for us was the smoking. Once you get over the fog of smoke, the divey atmosphere is nice and food was quick and good. Cash ONLY.

Best no-frills restaurant. Their food is DELICIOUS and the service is very friendly. I’ve their breakfast and their weekday lunch buffet and never been disappointed by their food. So to be short and sweet, 1. Excellent food 2. Friendly service BUT, 3. It’s definitely an older crowd 4. They have an open smoking policy, so not child/pregnant friendly.

Sincerely disappointed. We showed up hoping to eat here — the ENTIRE restaurant is SMOKING! That’s disgusting & totally inappropriate for people who don’t smoke. We have a 1 year old. We left immediately. Good riddance.

Picture a 70’s greasy-spoon restuarant, smoke and the smell of fried anything lingering in the air. That’s Pappy’s! Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon… special of the day was all-you-can-eat fried chicken and pork chops(salad, rice, mashed potatoes/gravy, cabbage and greens) for $ 8. We didn’t even look at the menu, grabbed some plates and started to sample the buffet. I can’t say anything bad about the food… it’s GREAT, home-cooked comfort food as greasy as when it came from the pan(which most of it did). Freshly fried meat was flying out of the kitchen. They also served a beef cutlet smoothered in onions and gravy, great spooned over rice. Service is no frills, staff was friendly, attentive to our drinks and cleared used plates fairly quickly. Be forewarned… this is a «smoke em, if you got em» restuarant so you’ll leave either smelling like grease or smoke. The food is more than worth a quick visit for lunch or breakfast. A plus if you live/work in the area… it’s 24 hrs. We’ll go back in a couple of weeks for the all-you-can-eat fried catfish(word of mouth says it’s the best in the area). Great food/value if you live/work in the area and looking for a close-to-home-cooked meal.

I love this place. Blue-collar diner. No frills. Friday buffet has fried catfish, whiting, chicken, BBQ as well as some vegetables and red rice. Just a shade under $ 10. Go home and sleep it off.

This dive is alright with me. Our catch phrase is «Smoke em if you got em. Smoke em if you don’t» This is the one place in America that they allow you to smoke at your table. There are old men and women who frequent the place. I saw two young girls with Rebel flag shirts on this go round. You never know what you might see or possibly catch if you lean too close to the toilet. The food rocks! The fried fish will melt in your mouth. The homemade corned beef hash is heavenly! It is a dive. A smokey dive. I’ve only dared go at breakfast time. That’s when your lungs are at their best. I smoke and this place will make you quit!
