The fresh fish sandwich and fish n chips were delicious!!! The service was outstanding. The bonus was the fact there was an Angels spring training game on tv!

My husband and I were here in mid February 2016. Dinner was VERY good at this awesome, local place in Hanalei. The fish was super fresh(marlin) which was an option for nachos… sounds a little weird, but it was sooo good! Hubby got the tri-tip dinner special and I got mac nut fried chicken… both super flavorful and excellent. It was very busy here on the Friday we were in. The waitress was awesome and didn’t mind that we stayed well past our meal. The view of the mountains behind the bar is amazing! The reason I am not giving 5 stars is that we loved our meal so much that we came back another night for dinner. They did not serve dinner that night because of staffing issues and we were a little disappointed. We got crab cakes, a burger and fish & chips. It just didn’t wasn’t the same and you could tell the staffing issues affected the kitchen. If my review was just for night 1 it would have been 5 stars!

Food here was super yummy! That being said we got here at 1230 for lunch and there was a long wait, so if you don’t feel like waiting I would suggest ordering in advance by phone(or at the takeout deli) and eating on the tables outside of the restaurant. They do have takeout. We all had burgers and they were awesome!

I had the fish and chips — a recurrent special of the place — and a papaya with fresh fruits. Verdict: good fish and chips, the papaya salad was disappointing as it was accompanied by fruits you’d find anywhere(grapes, apples and oranges), but the papaya itself was good.

This review was for sometime in the last week of December 2015. Came when it was empty and so we weren’t sure if it was going to be any good. Then within 15 – 20 minutes, tons of people started piling in. As we progressed with our meal, I kid you not when I say that the patio was jam packed with people waiting for a table. Most people wanted to eat inside because there’s no alcohol allowed outside. One thing that irked me is that the pop didn’t come with refills. I couldn’t see the bar but I assume they have a standard pop machine? If they do have one… then why no refills? It costs them literally pennies to do refills. If they don’t have a machine, then I guess we’re being upcharged for cans which is standard in places with no soda machines. Other than my being annoyed with no refills, everything was excellent from start to finish. — We had the old bay boiled shrimp and it was delicious. What isn’t delicious with Old Bay? It’s rhetorical, please don’t answer that. The nice baguette was delicious but I really didn’t have much room to spare considering the other food I ordered. — The deep fried artichoke hearts were really good. Never had this anywhere else. It was lightly battered(not too thick and not too heavy) and the dipping sauce worked really well with it. I could have ordered one or two more plates if I didn’t have a sandwich coming. — The fresh caught marlin sandwich was delicious. That marlin was cooked perfectly medium/medium-rare. A nice fluffy bun and just plain olé tomato, lettuce and onion on it. I took the onion out. The sauce that went with it was nice and I slathered it on. — My girlfriend got the waldorf salad with grilled chicken and loved it. Said that chicken was marinated so well and tasted so tender. An overall delicious meal. Considering how much food we got, the bill was really cheap. I would have happily paid more for the amount and quality of food we received… but shhhhh don’t tell them that or they might jack up the prices.

Our family eats here at least a couple of times when we stay in Princeville. My husband always has the fish sandwich, my son has the Dewey Burger and I get fish and chips. The food is always tasty and satisfying. We always have great service. It’s not fast food, but we’re on vacation, so a little wait is fine. We’ll definitely be back!

We stopped here to get sandwiches for our hike on the Kalalau trail. The sandwiches were decent, nothing special, pretty average, but not bad. I thought they were a bit overpriced, though the ingredients were fresh and so was the bread. Overall not bad, just nothing particularly memorable.

Right in the heart of Hanalei is this quaint old school turned into a restaurant. They use the chalkboards inside to display part of their menu. They offer salads, soup, sandwiches and dinner. To start lunch we ordered Deep Fried Artichokes. Delicious. Would totally get them again! I was so bummed. I ordered the Chicken Salad Boat in an avocado. Totally expecting it to come as chicken salad sitting with avocado. It came on a bed of lettuce and right in the center was a half sliced avocado ~ still in the shell, and the shredded chicken was on top. Macadamia nuts were clear on the bottom, under the lettuce. The dressing was on the side and that’s what made the«chicken salad». Very different! The hubster ordered a simple sliced chicken sandwich with chips. He really enjoyed his lunch!

Always a decent place to eat when visiting Hanalei. The food is good, not great, but decent. Ambiance and vibe is beachy casual and service is great. We liked their fish and chips, garden burger and regular burger. Drinks very watered down. Good option nonetheless.

This is a good option if you want sit down service and don’t want to to Bubba’s next door. Good food and good service, I enjoyed the fish and chips. Great views of the mountains in the back.

Service was excellent and friendly. Mai Tai was tasty and strong. I had the green salad and added ginger chicken, blue cheese crumbles, with a side of balsamic dressing. It was delicious and filling. I could barely finish it. Everyone else enjoyed the fish and chips(Marlin). Had a bite and it was delicious, but I couldn’t do all that oil, personally.

Food is average. Margarita was not good. The alcohol was adequate, but the mix was poor. It seems the blend was missing the mixer. But I’ve not been able to get even an average margarita at any restaurant on Kauai. Stick with the Mai Tai’s, IMO. I had chicken salad sandwich, and it was average. Ingredients were fresh. My husband had a burger, standard fare. He said it was«fine.» We would go back probably for a standard lunch. We paid about $ 45 for two, including two alcoholic drinks and a brownie. They had a football and baseball game playing on the TVs, and many older people were eating there to watch the games. We had very pleasant conversation with a gentleman and his wife at the adjacent table. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. She handled multiple tables apparently effortlessly.

I had the fish and chips and it was tasty. The vibe is relaxed and very busy. My wife ordered a salad with pickled vegetables and while good in concept it was not a good as a salad. The pickled vegetables would be better served as side dishes, not on all 4 sides of the salad. It just doesn’t work at all but that’s just my opinion. We loved the ambiance and the decoration and qe will be back.

My friend picked up some chicken sandwiches from here for lunch. Although I’ve passed by and walked around this place multiple times, I’ve never walked in and eaten inside. It was the first time I was trying their food and I wasn’t expecting much but one bite into the sandwich and it was love. It was the Moa burger. The chicken was juicy and seasoned perfectly. The veggies were crisp and fresh. Whenever I order a sandwich/burger it’s more of a complementary to the fries but this time the sandwich was the main focus of the meal and that’s how a good sandwich is made, making me forget about my love for fries. Their fries were well done and crispy in case you’re wondering. When I told other people about that burger they told me that they eat there all of the time and love the food there and it made me love the place even more. Why had I never heard of this place? It’s right off the highway and always seemed busy so I’ve always overlooked it. I still haven’t set foot inside the place but I can stand behind their chicken sandwich. So mouthwatering and healthy. I didn’t feel heavy and gross after eating it which tends to happen whenever I eat gourmet burgers.

Fish and chips were excellent. Sat on the porch and watched it rain. Live music was playing inside.

Got a sandwich for about 10 $ which was absolutely overpriced since it was really really small. Also the bread didn’t taste great and it took longer to make than it should’ve for a little sandwich. The service was absolutely rude.

Great sports bar with a backdrop of a beautiful area. Had fans and open windows with a great breeze. Friendly staff, people having fun. Definitely some good vibes coming from this place. Has your typical bar fixin’s but with that Hawaiian flair. Got the Fresh Island fish sandwich and fish and chips. The Sandwich: Great fresh fish. Had an lemon/dill combo mayo that complimented the charbroiled fish. Very tasty. I’d get it again for sure. Fish and chips: Again, absolutely, it’s all about the fish. Excellent battered/fried so you had that crunch, but it wasn’t overpowering. Fish definitely the star . If I was in the area, wanted a sporty/bar atmosphere, would come here. Two big screens!

Been living on Kauai my whole life and today was the first time I went! I’m not a huge fan of sandwiches… But their Hanalei Moa sounded delicious and the waitress recommended it. ITWAS A M A Z I N G! Don’t know what they put in the sauce, but whatever it is, they’re doing it right. The sauce went perfectly with the sandwich and I had enough left over to use with my fries! Everything was extremely fresh. I walked into this place not expecting much, and left only wanting more.

It was raining… raining only like it can rain in Kauai on the wet side. We are talking DELUGE! We had plans, ya know, drive to Ke’e beach, pay our respects to the Hula heiau, ya know plans. But the rain encouraged us to find this place and have lunch. We didn’t have high of hopes and it turned out that we had one of the best fish sandwiches of the trip here. We were so excited! We had literally been eating our way across Hawaii trying to find the fish sandwich that stood up to the one at Paia Fish Mart in Maui and this was the place that came the closest. The service was excellent, the salads tasty and a most excellent lilikoi ice tea. We ended up enjoying the fact that the rain chased us in there, away from our plans…
