I don’t usually do this but this review is per my husband because he’s in love with this place. And my review would do no justice compared to his… «My wife and I meandered in here while shopping at the outdoor mall. We were drawn to the smells coming from inside and couldn’t resist ordering. There were a lot of interesting options, but we decided to go with half Royal Hawaiian and half Wild Pig. I was initially taken back that pizzas were a lot more expensive than Chicagoland. But then I saw that they used very fresh ingredients and even posted something about how and what they used to make their pizza crust. We were able to snag a table outside the shop and the pizza was ready in about 25 minutes. While i really liked both halves, the Royal Hawaiian was my favorite. The Canadian bacon was the highlight and I liked that they used the right amount of pineapple. The shop had a good location because just in case your pizza took long(which ours did not) you can shop around the plaza. I think this place is a better place for lunch rather than dinner because seating limited. But I did notice a lot of people taking their pizzas to go.» Well, there you have it. I totally agree. Hawaiian Pizza in Hawaii… What! You gotta do it! :)

Slow, but every pizza is handmade. The owner/chef only rolls the dough out when you order. Our pizzas were a little heavy on the cheese. I like the fact the owner is a foodie, and will make you exactly what you want. He was really excited when a youngster in front of us wanted some exotic options. They had gluten-free pizza crusts, but apparently their supplier is out of them so that may not last for long. You can bring your own drinks(there is a market next door in the mall), but they do have a basic selection of sodas.

We stumbled across Hanalei Pizza on our last day in Kauai, and I’m so glad that we did. This pizza is really, really great — for anywhere, not just Hawaii. The crust is crisp and the melding of ingredients(we had the Hawaiian) makes this mouthful of pizza just a joy. We started with one slice and went back for 3 more. Love this place – it’s exactly what the north shore of Kauai is all about; laid back, great food, fun atmosphere.

The WILDPIG pizza was great. We stayed at the St Regis and got our car just to go to this place. The staff was friendly and made it right on the spot. I wish their premade salads had options without the cheese, but overall you go for the pizza. It is pretty expensive to just get a slice but if you get a med pizza for 2 you should have leftovers. We ate some right away and then took the rest home. The ingredients and crust were perfect.

Simply the best pizza I have had in a long long time. The crust was thin and crunchy, the sauce was tasty, and the toppings were fresh and great. The pizza was cooked to order very quickly and we ate it just as fast. Also, the price was not too bad considering the location on the north coast if Kauai. To bad they don’t have a view, but we could have taken it to eat at the beach, but I couldn’t wait.

Loved the crust! Would like to try the Hawaiian with pesto next time. We ordered the one with Kailua pork and Hawaii. We got it to go and ate it on the beach :)

Decent pizza for Hawaii. We ordered a ½ pepperoni and ½ pineapple/canadian bacon. The pepperoni side was tasty — with thinly sliced pepperoni and the requisite grease(which we like but you can always dab off with a napkin). The pineapple/canadian bacon side was only OK — the ham didn’t have a lot of taste so it was a bit bland. The crust is nicely thin and crispy though not terribly tasty — maybe a dash of salt would help? The cheese is good — we got our pizza to go but ate it at the tables outside so it was piping hot with all the cheesy gooeyness you’d want. The sauce wasn’t outstanding but we liked that there was a lot of oregano mixed in. This place is definitely better than the pizza place in Kilauea. Old school pizzeria — for take-out or to eat at picnic tables in shopping mall. Not a sit-down pizza restaurant.

Love this cute pizza shop! Hubs and I came here during our honeymoon back in Sep of 2011 on our last night in Princeville. They are located in a cute little shopping center and kinda hard to find but you just need to walk around and you will find it. Plenty of parking around. We had noticed them earlier in the week and thought we had to come back and try and it smelled sooooo goood. We ordered a Pep pizza and the service was so nice. It took about 15 – 20 minutes. They have a decent amount of seating inside and out. We waited outside and it started raining. Everyone started running to get out of it and even a couple sitting underneath the umbrella asked if we wanted to sit next to them but we said thats okay. It’s Kauai! I love the rain here and it just made the night that more magical. Picked up our pizza and took it back to the hotel. So flavorful and cooked just right and nice, crispy crust. I hate when pizzas aren’t cooked fully but this was. So glad we made this our last dinner in Kauai. Can’t wait to go back!

When I mentioned to a friend that I was headed to Kaua’i, his response was: «Hanalei Pizza! You have to go!» I stumbled across it in the little mall by our surfing/kayaking people. And then… I made it my lunch a couple of days later. When friends tell you you’ve gotta try something all the way from Canada… you’d best try it! I bought a slice of something that I can’t remember the name of! It was similar to the margherita pizza they serve, but with one or two different ingredients. Some pesto maybe? It was deeeeeeeeelish! Nice, crispy thin crust, so full of flavour. Of added note, you can BYOB! Mmm, mmmm good.

This place definitely deserves a five star review. I’ve lived in Chicago(deep dish), St. Louis(thin crust), have eaten NYC pizza many times, and I think Hanalei pizza ranks in the top 5 on my pizza joint list. I know, you’re probably thinking I’m crazy as hell for making that claim, and I thought the same thing after my first few bites. This is a pizza shop on the north side of Kauai where the roaming chickens outnumber the inhabitants… The quality of the ingredients definitely make all the difference. The crust is phenomenal! The list of healthy sounding ingredients is extensive(I can imagine myself walking down an aisle in Whole Foods and thinking that all these ingredients will make my colon nice and happy…). They even use coconut water in the dough! The crust has a perfect crispy texture with just the right amount of chewy-ness(is this even a word?) and it’s not greasy. I asked one of the workers and he said that they don’t use any oil when baking the pizza. We tried the«Angry Goat» and it was absolutely perfect after a day of hiking. Goat cheese, jalapeño, pineapple, and bacon. ‘Nuff said. Hanalei Pizza is one of those rare eating spotswhere you could serve the food up in a dumpster and I would eat it without thinking twice. If you’re into pizza and roaming chickens then you know where to go…

Um, again I don’t get all these great reviews. Pizza was fine, I ate every slice we bought but the price was so ridiculous that I felt obligated to finish every morsel.

Got a Wild Pig pizza to take back to the condo. What a disappointment! Over cooked, dry, wasn’t sure if we were eating the crust or the cardboard box. Definitely expecting something special for $ 35. For the price one star is too generous.

As a New Yorker we were smirking at some of the reviews for this spot. «Best pizza I’ve ever had!» For real? Hawaii? C’mon! After eating here I have to give them some credit. They make a good pie. I’d recommend the Hawaiian and the Wild Pig(i think that is what it’s called). Nice crust. Great combinations of flavors. Kudos.

Amazing pizza! The crust is SO good! It’s thin and very tasty. The toppings are great. I tried the wild pig, veggie deluxe, meat baby and hawaiian. All were awesome! The guys working there are awesome too. Tip: For 2 people, get a medium and get half/half of different types. Perfect size for lunch if you’re hungry.

Tasty, tasty pizza! Their pepperoni slices are spicy and meaty, and the Hawaiian slices have amazing sauce. Easily the best eats in Hanalei, and probably the best pizza on the island!

Liked that I could BYOB but the pizza was mediocre. Friendly place yet they failed to let us know our pizza was done and we ate it after I asked what happened to the pizza I ordered 30 minutes ago? It was still warm, but about 10 minutes out of the oven. Disappointing.

Delicious. We asked our friend who grew up in the area for a restaurant recommendation and this is the only place he suggested. The pizza crust itself is just average(apparently its made from flaxseed and coconut flour) but the toppings are what push this pie over the edge of flavorfulness. We couldn’t decide so we got half pies Wild Pig, the Royal Hawaiian, pepperoni and the Veg Head Deluxe. Wild Pig was hands down my favorite. Kalua pork, caramelized Maui onions and melty cheese made this a taste bud sensation. My sister preferred the Royal Hawaiian with Canadian bacon, pineapple and mozzerella cheese. I liked it, but I liked the savory saltiness of the Kalua pork more. My dad was in to the Veg Head deluxe with had roasted peppers, onions, garlic and artichoke with a pesto sauce. It was fantastic, especially the roasted garlic. The only thing that stopped this from being my favorite was — must I say it? — the Kalua pork. Definitely would go back for more.

Atmosphere: 2 Service: 3 Food: 5 So it’s just a pizza place with like one table inside. It’s in a little strip mall and its tiny. So there’s not really much to this place. It took a good 20 minutes for our pizza o be made but it was awesome. Great pizza. Nice thin crust and packed with geese an toppings. So good. Go here and get great pizza. You won’t regret it. Slightly pricey but the pizza lasted me and my husband three meals.

I don’t understand why this place has such great reviews. Yes, it was cheap. It was also slow, greasy and full of garlic salt(not real garlic) that we tasted for days. I have no problems with no-frills places, but the food left much to be desired.

FANTASTIC pizza on the North Shore of Kauai. I had tried the pizza from Kilauea Bakery & Pau Hana pizza the day before and thought it was awesome… then I tried Hanalei and as much as I loved Pau Hana, Hanalei has them beat! I just went and got a veggie slice but the full pizzas they were making looked amazing. The 2 guys working there were super friendly and very cool. They spread melted butter across the crust and added feta and fresh basil to my slice-a delicious addition to the already tasty veggie slice. There was all sorts of stuff on it, I especially enjoyed the roasted garlic(I think that’s what it was!). For a quick lunch or dinner I would HIGHLY recommend Hanalei Pizza… I’m from Chicago and am somewhat of a pizza snob, so coming from me-that’s a pretty big deal!

As soon as I saw the Kalua pork pizza on the menu, «I „was like“ Yeah! I’m totally in for this pizza!» Although there were only 4 of us in our crew, we did order 3 pizzas: the Kalua pork with carmelized onions, pepperoni, and cheese. They were all pretty good pizzas. Don’t expect gourmet, fancy pizzas, but there was definitely a variety of flavors available and«It just hit the spot» after a full day of hiking to waterfalls. If you don’t call ahead first and order right when you get there, there are plenty of little shops and places to roam around when waiting for pizza. The pizzas aren’t paper thin, but they’re not Chicago style either. I would say that it was the same thickness as a Peter Piper pizza slice, but of course the flavor is much better. They are great for re-heating too for a snack or breakfast if you don’t finish eating them right away.
