We have been going to Jiminy Peak annually for years. We have been going to John Harvard’s just as long. We attempted to make reservations for dinner Thursday, 2⁄27 for 7 adults. The hostess, because of a party that was arriving shortly, and another large party coming at 7PM did not want to give us a reservation. After I pushed, she offered us a very late reservation. In fact, she told us we should try Christianson’s tavern. We had already eaten at Christianson’s the day before, plus because of very cold temperatures, and the fact we were staying in the same building as John Harvard’s, we walked over at 7PM, without a reservation. When we got there, we saw several empty tables, and the hostess said she would put our name in and a table should be ready in 20 minutes. We sat at the bar. After 10 minutes, we decided to eat at the bar. The food was good– no complaints. My complaints are about the lack of management(never saw one), the lack of waitstaff in the height of ski season on a Thursday night(which is a busy night because Jiminy Peak offers a free night’s stay on Thursday nights if you are arriving for the weekend), and the inexperienced, young hostess that was left in charge to turn away business. PS: I only saw her seat 2 tables in the 1.5 hours we were there. How much business did she turn away?
