One hour and forty minute wait for food, poor over all service. My French onion soup was salty for me, and I’m a guy who adds salt to cup of noodle. Strip steak was really tough to cut through, much more connective tissue than I’m used to.

Since I am the first to review, this is gonna be long and packed with info! Firsts! My family and I have been coming to the River Run for years when we stay at our cabin in the adjacent town of Deposit. We usually make it our«nice night out» location, as there’s not many classy choices in the area. The River Run is a really neat place, it’s part of the West Branch Angler fly fishing resort, so it’s right on the Delaware river with an amazing mountain view. Great location scenery wise, but it’s WAY off the beaten path! Use your GPS to find it for sure, as you trek down some remote backroads on the way. Probably since it’s so remote, they have limited menus on certain nights. Check the website and don’t try to call for reservations or info, cause they don’t answer the phone(maybe too small of a staff?). Granted, our chosen night was a Tuesday, so this all might be different on a weekend. Regardless, they have an upstairs dining room and downstairs bar area, and if it’s a «limited menu(bar menu)» night, you’re gonna be in the bar area. This is good though, cause the bar has better atmosphere than the dining room! The service was good, our server was fun — and considering they were not expecting a large number of people this particular Tuesday night — can be considered excellent! Our food came out fast and our drinks refilled often. The beer choices were above average, with the common domestics of course — however — with a few local brews added in. This made the difference between having two beers to having none for me as I am a beer snob! The menu here is great, whether it’s the«regular»(busy night) or «limited»(slow night) menu. Our limited menu offered a nice variety of burgers/sandwiches, a few salads, soups, and some nice appetizers and sides. I chose the haddock sandwich and fries. The haddock was fried and crispy, and had a nice remoulade sauce. I asked for more sauce for a dip on each bite. The fries are awesome! Probably double fried or battered cause they were really thick and crispy. The rest of our order was a Salmon topped Salad, Cajun Shrimp topped salad, and all-american cheeseburger. The salads were nicely done spring greens and not all cheap iceberg lettuce. The burger was handmade and not generic, which is important to anyone who wants quality. Prices are average, some low cost plates and some higher, but the menu reflects this. You’re not gonna pay $ 20 for a burger, but maybe a steak. This is acceptable as the atmosphere and location must’ve cost the owners more than a small storefront would. All in all, I enjoy coming here and recommend it to someone looking for a good meal off the beaten path. Enjoy!
