Great food. Get the onion rings. Always busy but never a long wait. The tenderloin is very good. Good beer selection.

My family has been coming to Gil’s for years, mostly for their outstanding fried chicken. I live 3 hours away, but when I visit my parents in the area, we almost always stop at Gil’s for a meal. I highly recommend reservations if you’re going on a busy weekend evening, as the place gets pretty crowded and the waiting area quite full. Happily, we’ve always experienced good, friendly service even during the busiest nights. The food is Midwest comfort food at its best. Obviously, the fried chicken is the main attraction and is always superbly cooked and moist, but their catfish filets and steaks are delicious as well. The complimentary corn fritters with your meal is a nice touch. And their desserts… well, let’s just say that they are homemade and outrageously good! They are in a case as you walk in, and are as pretty as they are tasty. My dad’s favorite is the chocolate layer cake. Sinful! :) Looking forward to my next visit to Gil’s.

The fried chicken needed a bit if seasoning, but it was crunchy and cooked perfectly. We were served donut holes with our meal and they were gone in seconds… so, so good. The dessert looked great but we were stuffed, so it will be a «must try» for our next visit.

Gil’s is a longtime standard. Always the same good food and a nice variety of it. Chicken night is huge so arrive early.

Gil’s is always pretty good. This restaurant is mostly filled with older people. They have a nice bar area. We usually go on Wednesdays for their fried chicken special. I get the skinless chicken and never have been unhappy with it. A few times it has been a little dry, but most of the time it’s just right. The pieces are really big. They make a nice salad and the coleslaw is tasty. The walleye here is good too. I love the fritters.

Gil’s does a wonderful job with old favorites, fried chicken, spagetti, sandwiches, mashed potatoes, etc… My family and I stopped in on a tuesday, and suprisingly the place was hoppin. Our waitress was fantastic, she raidiated calm as she bounced around from table to table(wished I remebered her name) and never made you feel rushed. My only wish for Gil’s is at least one more choice for a vegetarian. My family had tenderloins and spagetti with meatballs. I did taste the spagetti, which thankfully only had marina sauce, however the rest of my meal was from the sides menu. Side salad w/homemade dressing and a baked potato. Dressing was excellent and the kids loved the tenderloin, which by the way is huge, with half being taken home for a second meal the next day.

On a visit to see family in Peoria, stopped here Saturday night for dinner. While my parents eat here regularly, it has been many years for me and this was a first visit for my husband. The restaurant seemed packed when we first walked in, but they were quick to seat us and take our drink and appetizer order. We started off with an order of onion rings which were excellent. Very crispy and well seasoned. My husband had the shrimp and walleye, my mom had one of the specials(chicken and ribs), my dad had the tenderloin, and I had the chicken and catfish. We all enjoyed our meals, and while my parents warned us that we would be taking home leftovers, I was still surprised by how filling everything was. Everything about this place, from our genuinely friendly servers to the delicious home-cooked food, was great. My husband and I will be stopping by again when in the Peoria area.

I’ve heard amazing things about Gil’s supper club, so when I got invited up to Hannah City I knew I had to make a stop there. I ordered the fried chicken and walleye. I have had better fried chicken at some other old time-y places but the chicken was still excellent. The walleye was nothing special but still satisfactory. The real surprise was in the dessert, Home-made red velvet cake. This was the best slice of cake I’ve ever had and ever plan to have. The main course was a 3 at best but ranking the dessert is just cruel. I will come back, but might just load on the dessert.

Gil’s is great. The statement here was, «To get a better piece of chicken, you’d have to be a rooster». The fried chicken is hot and tasty. The eating is good and pretty reasonable in price. Corn fritters in sugar come with each meal… Heavenly. Come and try it.

The wallet on Fridays is awesome. More than u can eat. Had the fried chicken the other day and it was absolutely delicious. Juicy with a great crust. We have had their pizza also. A really good hand tossed pizza. Lots of toppings and baked to a wonderful crisp. Love this place

Fried chicken… that is all I can say. Absolute best fried chicken is located here. We started off with a ½ order of onion rings extra crispy and you gets lots and lots of them! You will need a to go box here! Okay back to the onion rings they are crispy and peppery, delicious! The fried chicken is cooked perfectly and the white meat is juicy. Now lets get to dessert the best part. I got peanut butter pie and my other half got strawberry cream cake and oh my was it the most amazing pie of cake I have ever had. Peanut butter pie was awesome but the strawberry cream cake was out of this world! The cake was moist, icing was amazing and it is beautiful! One piece serves 3! This piece of cake was huge and I think was only about $ 3 – 4! There prices are incredibly cheap and their food was five stars, same as their service!

I have been going to Gils since I was a kid — over 30 years. Décor is very country. Consistently good food and friendly small town service. Well worth the drive from Peoria. The always full large dining area — I think it is half the size of Hanna City — confirms the quality of this restaurant.

I’ve been to Gil’s a number of times, and I guess I just don’t understand all the fuss about the chicken. I would rate it as almost average. On the other hand, it you want to eat fried chicken in Hanna City, theirs is the best. The rest of the menu has lots of fried stuff and a few steaks. A pretty nice menu over all. I had a good slice of Prime rib the other day, reasonably priced, but too bad the baked potato was burnt. Complimentary fritters are nice. I have never tried desert, but they look wonderful. Generally the service is pretty good, just be ready to wait a long time for the fresh fried chicken.

i’m from the South where fried chicken is an art form. my mom would slap me if she heard me say this is the best fried chicken i have ever had. oh, except hers of course. we save this place for special occasions but i swear i could eat there every night. it has a nice bar that you can hang out at while you wait… and unless you get there early on a weekend, you will wait! but it is so worth it! one of my favorite restaurants EVER!

Wednesday evening special is the best: Fried Chicken Dinner. If you like authentic home-cookin’(American style restaurant), look no further than Gil’s Supper Club(it’s not really a «club» anymore). The restaurant is smoke-free & is attached to a smaller bar, The Warehouse, that serves pizza, burgers, & bar food. If you’re traveling through on Route 116 or want to get out of the city for some small town cookin’, stop by Gil’s.
