We used to come here a lot in the summer to get their fresh squeezed sugar cane juice that they make in front of you with that massive machine. They also sell«fresh» cooked vegetable samosas by the checkout register but they are usually sold out by mid afternoon. I did buy a large cinnamon spice container and when I got home I noticed it was expired and same thing for their face products. So please check the expiration dates folks. I would have said one or two star but the fresh sugar cane juice is pretty awesome. They have a parking lot that can get PACKED on the weekends and people are not pedestrian-sensitive(meaning they simply aint lookin’ or don’t care when they driving or backing out.”

Patel Brothers is the biggest Indian/Pakistani Grocery Store you’ll find in the area. They sell pretty much everything I have ever needed to cook foods that we make at home. They have a nice frozen section, which is a little expensive, but one can find ready chopped frozen vegetables that you cannot get at the grocery store, like drumstick, guvar, and turai. We also buy the frozen chapatis and the ready-to-use dosa/idli batter that they sell. The spices are usually a little cheaper than other Indian stores. The best part about Patel Brothers though, is the fresh fruit and vegetable section. We get a lot of vegetables that are common in India, and not sold at a regular grocery store in the US. The biggest treats are finding the fruits you don’t normally get in the US. Just a few days back my husband and I ate a few chikoos(sorry, don’t know the English name). I was probably the first chikoos we’ve eaten in the last 5 – 6 years. They also sell guavas and mangoes when it’s in season. I strongly suggest trying the Kesar mangoes when they come. Patel Brothers really helps when you’re feeling nostagic or home-sick.

Part of the growing Patel Bros grocery empire, and a welcome addition to suburban shopping, which saves me a trip down to Devon Ave. All sorts of great fresh vegetables, would have liked to have seen some Indian mango varieties here. Extensive frozen and pre-packaged groceries and the price is quite reasonable. Next door is the JK Kabab House.
