In an effort to escape the torrential rains on Lake Sunapee, I dragged the family to nearby downtown Hanover, hoping for some good distraction for my two-year-old. I asked for the nearest toy store, and was directed to Kiddo. Kiddo was the ideal place to spend the better part of an hour. There were stuffed animals galore, a marble obstacle course, a great train set table with plenty of Thomas character trains on hand, and an owner who let us stay, didn’t bother us, and helped countless groups find the perfect presents. I left reluctantly when my son had a screaming tantrum because I wouldn’t let him ram the doll carriage into a patron’s leg, and wished with all my might that my own hometown had a store like this one.
