MEM contacted me to let me know that the problem employee was taken care of. I decided to give them a second chance and everything went well this time. I will continue to use MEM as they are convenient and prices are comparable. I feel as if the problem people have been taken care of but I will continue to double check their work and fees, as I would any other auto repair shop.

I took my car in to be inspected and they charged me for labor and bulbs in my third break light (before even asking me). I asked the front desk lady to clarify and she brought out the mechanic, Keith. He tried to convince me that they replaced 4 light bulbs in my third break light assembly by taking it out of the car, taking it apart and replacing lights. The assembly is LED (no bulbs) and after calling Toyota they verified there are NO BULBS in the third break light. They lied, charged me for work and parts they didn’t put into the car and stole money from me.

MEM Automotive is the higher end of independent shops in Hanover. The shop is worth a visit for the Inspection/​emissions testing special, about the cheapest in town.
Their knowledge extends to European cars and I’ve had my Audi and Volkswagen serviced here more than once, and they’ve always been honest in their assessment and repair of the problem at a reasonable cost. Several times they admitted the scope of work was beyond their capability and recommended a visit to the dealer, and they were right.
I appreciate their honesty, and I recommend taking your vehicle to MEM.

I’m between 2 — 3 stars. Not bad, not great. In my personal experience their method of estimating labor seems a little off and I was lucky enough to have someone tell me I was about to be overcharged. I have only been here once so I can’t say if it’s just my experienece or that it’s consistent.
The good is that the front office woman is really nice and personable and they work quickly. They were also having a 50% off inspections and emissions testing special, so that was nice. I’m not saying they do anything differently than other auto shops, I would just use caution when getting an estimate or work done.
Otherwise, I think the staff makes up for the minor unpleasance of the experience.
