I would give zero stars if possible. We saw the name of this company on Angie’s list and read wonderful reviews. We contacted them to do some VERY minor, cosmetic repairs… remove an antenna and replace some bricks on an older, not working chimney on our building. They told me that they charged $ 79 for the estimate which would be applied to the work. We received an estimate of $ 1600 including $ 750 worth of labor. We hired another company to do the work and were charged $ 500. It took them approximately two hours to do the work. Needless to say, we are now being hounded by the Chimney Chap for their $ 79 estimate.

The previous owners of my home had allowed the chimney to get loaded up with soot and other debris. So I called the Chimney Chap based on the reviews I had seen on Unilocal/facebook. I was not disappointed. Russell did a fantastic job explaining what he had done and took the time to give my wife and I an appraisal of the situation with our chimney. The thing I most appreciated was that he was extremely courteous and did not go all«doom and gloom» with our situation despite the fact that our home was built in 1895. The pricing was very fair and if I should ever have any issues with my chimney in the future, the Chimney Chap will be the only company I’ll call.

After a horrendous nightmare with my furnaces, I realized my chimney needed cleaning bad! So I had to call in the professionals, licensed professionals. Good thing I had heard of this great company through a trusted friend. After a call, they arrived a few days later(going to start referring to Them as Scott from here), but from this initial investigation it did not turn out to be good news for me. My chimney was in very rough condition because it had never been covered and worse never cleaned. The brick from the chimney were falling apart and there were enormous cracks in the original clay lining. Scott explained that with cracks and deteriorated walls in your chimney, Carbon Monoxide will not get vented properly and can cause harm. He also pointed out issues with the recent installation of the furnaces and reasons why it shouldn’t have passed code. Therefore, Scott recommended that I get a new stainless steel liner installed. Another week later, Scott and team came back with all the proper materials and installed the 30′ liner, new t-connection for two furnaces, chimney cover and repaired all the bricks. Unfortunately during the installation, the original clay liner fell and made a mess all over my basement, as this unforeseen incident occurred, Scott and team handled the entire situation professionally.
