This a great option here on Virginia Avenue if you’re tired of the usual fast food chains and diners in the area. Easy in and out. though parking is limited on the front side facing Virginia Avenue. I just walked there from where I was working. There is much more parking on the backside of the building. I skipped a salad and went for a big delicious Rueben sandwich for take-out: Lots of corned beef, melted swiss, sauercraut and not too much dressing(as requested). Delicious. I’ll be back for the salads and try the Philly Cheese steak that coworker ordered and really enjoyed.

My co-worker and I left Grecian Gyro to run over here because she wanted Chicken Fingers. I call as we are leaving to placer her order. «Can I have a Chicken Finger Combo please?». I was told yes«$ 7.49.». So in 3 minutes we pulled up, she got out and in less than 3 minutes she was back in the car. As we are almost back she couldn’t resist the smell of her fries so she opened the box and went from smiling to frowning as she realized her fries were cold as hell. So she touched her Chicken Fingers and they were hot but looked old. Almost like they had been re-fried. I tasted one fry and one piece of her chicken. It was a horrible mess. I don’t think that I could ever come here for myself after this experience. It is sad that a place known for good food and service would send a customer out of their establishment with horrible food. I felt so bad for her that I gave her half of my lunch. So this place owes me $ 5.

I have come to this American Deli about 2 – 4 times per month for the past year. All of those visits and I have only had one meal that I did not enjoy… the wings were dry. However, I really enjoy the fries and the sandwiches. Plus, I always get a consistent product which in my opinion is a key restaurant quality. I would also add, the portions sizes are good. I am never hungry after my meal and usually cannot finish the whole thing. As far as service, it lacks personality. No one has ever really asked me any questions or greeted me but, I am still a fan because its clean, consistent and a great value. Recommended for sure.

Have tried the Gyro and the Philly Combo. Nothing exceptional that will blow your mind, but consistently good and always hits the spot. Portions are generous. It certainly beats the hell out of most of the quick service options in this area. I have yet to try their wings, but I already know they’re going to be tasty enough to keep me coming every now and then.

ok… yes, this is an American Deli. but this is the BEST American Deli I’ve ever eaten at(OMG, did i just put a preposition at the end of a sentence! Gulp!) They have the best hot wings: the outside is crunchy, yet not overkilled, the inside is juicy and hot, but not slimy and undercooked. They are just right. Many can cook a hot wing, few can make them just right. They have reubens that are awesome and the crust is buttery. It’s amazing. they have huge servings here. the chef salad is awesome and huge. They use shredded lettuce and it’s packed with toppings, including the meat. The philly cheesesteaks are amazing. the burgers are huge and moist and all of the toppings are fresh. but the BEST thing about this place is their fried rice. To be exact… their Gourmet fried rice. It is double awesome. seriously folks, I’m very excited about it. They have a combo, a full Styrofoam take out box of fried rice with 5 wings for 7.99. they don’t start serving fried rice until 1 each day though. but it’s right next to my job, so i am there once, twice, thrice a week. they have veggie fried rice. chicken fried rice. beef fried rice. shrimp fried rice. yummo! not to mention this american deli is clean and spacious. *closed on sundays*
