Meineke Car Care Center

Brought my car here this morning for a AC problem, about 2 hours after dropped off the car, they called me and told me that everything are OK with the system, only needed freon. The cost for the freon recharge is $ 75 so I’m OK with this, and about an hour later they called and let me know my car is done. I was at work so I came 3 hours later, paid for it, get in the car turned on AC and no cold air!!! I let the car ran for 15 min and still no cold air.
Came inside talked to the manager and he took the car back in, checked out and showed me the compressor is leaking, the cost to replaced the thing is almost $ 1000.00; I told him I don’t want to do it and want my money back since I have not yet leave the shop and haven’t seen my AC working. He told me he will recharged the freon to show me it’s works then take it back out. I argued that he should leave the freon charged up so I know that the AC actual working or issue a refund because he/​they misdiagnosed (or do they even look?).
Now I’m out $ 75 for nothing, if the compressor leak this bad they should see it and should let me know the cost of replacing it.
I alway have my car services at the dealerships, and should have bring the car to the dealer instead of this place.
If I could leave a 0 star for the service I would.

BEWARE! They have been reported to the Better Business Bureau. We took our newly purchased (used car) in for brake inspection and repair. The brake indicator tab had just begun to rub, signaling that it was time for new brakes. My boyfriend took the car in to this location. He received service from a manager named Jake (who was filling in and actually from a different location). They replaced the rear brakes. They then informed my boyfriend that the front brakes needed to be replaced within 6 weeks and showed him ‘his’ brake pads, which were very worn and depleted. shortly after my boyfriend drove off the lot, the front brakes started making a very strange whirring noise.
That same day, my boyfriend took the car to Discount Tire (wonderful people!) to have two new tires put on, as the tread was very low. They referred him to a different specialist (Kalberer Frames & Line-​Up) who gave him a lower quote, and whom Discount Tire said was a trustworthy business man.
My boyfriend took the car to Kalberer today and walked out without paying a cent. He was informed that a spring had been taken out, causing the brakes to rub, leading to the sound we heard shortly after leaving Meineke. My boyfriend was also informed that his brake pads are in great condition, and was able to see that the pads Meineke had shown him were not in fact his. There wasn’t a single thing wrong with our front brakes!
I strongly advise against going to this Meineke location (and the one where a manager named Jake is permanently located) unless you want to pay for services that you don’t actually need. We could have ended up paying $ 500+ dollars for new front brakes that we DID NOT even need. Bottom line, you can run into crooks anywhere, so rely on second opinions and professional referrals.

One of the best muffler shops in SE Portland!!! They have a wonderful staff that is full of knowledge. Not only do they perform exhaust work but they’re killer with brake and service work as well. The owner is very friendly and he «muffler man» is amazingly nice!
I strongly recommend these guys.

Made an appointment online for an oil change for the next day but got a phone call from the store saying they were too busy at that time and asked if I would reschedule for Saturday morning, 3 days later. When I showed up for the appointment, I was told I needed to leave the truck for a couple hours since they had gotten very busy. When I mentioned the prior rescheduling and that I had an appointment, I was told I had to leave it and they would get to it as soon as they could. I dedided to get my service elsewhere.

I bought a used car on the weekend, and my go-​to car shops were closed. I called this Meineke shop in the morning to see if they could do a pre-​purchase inspection in the afternoon. I took the car there, and the service was professional, on time, and very friendly. I’m not a car expert, so I can’t be sure the PPI was as good as at a specialist shop. It didn’t take as long as some others PPIs I have had, and I don’t think it contained an actual test drive by the mechanics, but I walked out with an overall evaluation of the car, a list of (minor) problems, and a list of upcoming recommended maintenance. Overall, this was a very good experience.

The new address for this store is now 3635 SE 82^nd and I encourage you to stay away from this place! They will try to rip you off! They quoted me $ 665.09 for brake job and hardware. I took my car to three other local car centers and got three quotes for $ 320-​$ 345. Question their INTEGRITY and HONESTY if you decide to give them your money.

They suck you in with their 50% discount. Then they add on unneeded repairs and services.
I was given an estimate of nearly $ 800 for a brake job! When I took my truck to nearby competitors Les Schwab and Brake Team, both came in at around half that.
