Visiting from NJ… I wish I had taken a photo of my sandwich. it was so delicious!!! I saw someone sitting outside and asked them where they got their sandwich, they pointed me to gurneys after telling me that it was the best sandwich shop in town. They were right! Recommendations fromNew Jersey!!! Tuna is fantastic!

The best made to order sandwiches in town! But just a heads up get there early! They make their own bread daily and if you want something special, like their vegetable bread get there early, they often run out.. As well they do not take credit/debit card. But there is an ATM close by. Well worth it!!!

So I am thinking this is just a little liquor store on Main St. Man was I wrong! This is where the locals get their lunch. Nice sandwich filled me up for two days. Deli sauce a must… all good here.

Not to be missed. Don’t let a long line scare you away, they are speedy and move customers through quickly. Homemade bread and deli sauce are to die for. Grab a sandwich and drink and head to the beach or harbor.

Pro: Delicious sandwiches, friendly employees, and a pretty good beer and liquor selection. I’m a big fan of Gurney’s, a true staple for anyone visiting Harbor Springs. A sandwich is also probably one of the most inexpensive places to eat in HS. Con: My only problem is they only take cash or check. I’m not sure why they do that. I think that must keep some customers away, but I guess they just don’t want to deal with the credit card companies. I never carry checks around and I don’t carry enough cash to buy their booze.

Delicious sandwiches on freshly-baked bread! Enjoyed this little stop so much we’ve been twice so far in our week-long trip, letting me try the Wreck(heaps of fresh meat with cheese, add lettuce and pepponcini) and a tasty salami sandwich. I love the efficient service and cute wrap up in a brown bag with pickle. Like a home-packed lunch and perfect to take to the park! Great kid-friendly eats.

Best sandwiches ~ ever! Bread is fresh made. Service is friendly and fast. Prices are good. Deli sauce is a must. Great wine/liquor selection as well. Perfect place to grab a sandwich and a bottle of wine and head over to the harbor for a picnic!(Of course add a Toms Moms to the mix)

Best. Sandwiches. Ever. Deli sauce, bread and pickles made them. Beware, they close early(2ish) or when bread runs out.

I miss the days when Gurney’s was a secret. Waited in a half hour line that wrapped around the inside of this small liquor store during the first week of July, but it was totally worth it. Meat piled high and Gurney’s Deli Sauce is a little piece of heaven between two slices of fresh baked bread. The Train Wreck sandwich is popular here. If you have never been, don’t ask for tomatoes on your sandwich because they don’t have them and you look like a total noob. Be ready to spit out your order when you’re at the counter — bread, meat, cheese, veggies, sauce. Somehow the sandwich creators retain everything you just said and quickly package your order in saran wrap, pay at the register(cash only). Eat. Enjoy. Go back the next day for more.

Warning, Gurney’s is cash only! Their sandwiches are great, the bread is excellent and they have lots of drink choices.

I had an amazing sandwich. The fresh baked bread is amazing, I went with pumpernickel and i was so soft and held up to the sauce. Onto the ingredients. Roast beef cut just right, crisp lettuce, nice pickles that did not dominate and the famous Gurnee’s sauce. This was the best sandwich I’ve had in a while and it took about 5 mins. The price is right too. I’ll be back every time I am up north!

Great, great, great sandwiches. The king of sandwiches! Sandwich Eden! Delicious squishy house-baked bread with crunchy vegetables and perfect proportions. Cash only. One of the best veggie sandwiches I’ve had, anywhere. Also fantastic tuna. Don’t forget the jalapenos! Get two sandwiches because they’re good even after they’ve been in the fridge overnight.

I live in California now, Gurney’s. Did I tell you this? Remember last time we hung out? It was last summer, and one of the days you ran out of bread. That was quite the pickle you put me in(get it?). It is ok though because I bought 8 Sandwiches in total during my week stay. I’ll be back again this July.

I have been eating here since high school in the 80’s — the most amazing sandwiches. It’s the bread(baked fresh on-site) and shaved deli meat. My standard is turkey with colby on white. I have driven 6 hours round trip just for a Gurney’s fix. I also have nightmares 2−3x per year where I have visited Harbor Springs and left the town without getting a Gurney’s. Strange? Yes. But an absolute must if you are anywhere near by. Also — I hate tomatoes so I 100% support their decision to not allow tomatoes anywhere near the store.

There is absolutely nothing like a Gurney’s Sandwich. Many crave the«trainwreck» while others like the simple«turkey». However you choose to devour this piece of heaven on earth is up to you… as long as you don’t try to order tomatoes. LOL Give the deli sauce a try. you won’t be disapointed, no matter how long the line is. It’s worth the 5 minute wait. Although I don’t live near Harbor anymore, it’s my first stop when I visit and it should be yours too!
