Used to be great place. We’ve given it three tries since the new owners took over. Never going back. Any place can have a bad night(although the previous BL owners never seemed to have one) but three is a standard. Sirloin Stockade has better steaks and Captain D’s better seafood.

We eat there often. Food is very good. Our county has finally gone wet so now they will be able to serve you wine, a beer or a mixed drink. Thank goodness for progress. This is exactly what this great Resturant needed!

Been coming here for over 30 years. Used to be the best restaurant in the entire Kentucky Lake area. Now it’s a very good restaurant. We eat here 3 – 4 times a year, so still like it a lot. Had ribeye cooked perfect tonight. Salad bar didn’t have as many items as it used to, but still very good. Turtle pie for dessert always a treat. Staff is always great & makes you feel welcome. Recommend to anyone in the area, but if you’re expecting Ruth’s Chris, Chart House, or Morton’s, it’s not. Just slow down, enjoy the décor, your family or friends and a good meal served by great people.

A few friends and I stopped by here during a road trip and had such a lovely meal! The staff was fantastic, very attentive. We got the crab cakes, the ribeye steak and the chopped sirloin steak with grilled onions and cheese on top. The steaks were amazing – so tender, juicy and flavorful. My friend says, «The steaks were to die for.» We were so pleasantly surprised to find such a nice restaurant next to Land Between the Lakes. This restaurant is a little pricy, and the crab cakes were just all right. But overall, we really enjoyed our dinner.

I had dinner here for the first time as a company party. I have lived in the area for about 15 year and passed this place many times. The staff and décor was awesome, however the food was NOT. The party had submitted orders ahead of time. The selections were Mahi-Mahi, New York Strip Steak and something else. I ordered the New York Strip. I worked as a meat market manager for about 20 years and am very aware of what a New York Strip Steak is. What we were served was definitely a Sirloin Steak. The flavor was very mediocre. For the prices of the food, I would DEFINITELYNOT recommend this restaurant. There are definitely better place to eat in the area.

We went here to eat and get what we thought was going to be a great meal, it had been a couple of years since we went and it was great! But we knew that the old owners sold out to new ones and it would seem that the new owners where looking more at the bottom line than the quality of the food. My steak was gristle and over cooked just a poor cut of meat, the pasta was way over cooked and overall it was sub-par. The service was fine and the hostess was nice but the food was no where what it use to be and no where even worth half the price of the $ 100+ we spent… a real disappointment.

This restaurant serves steak, scallops, and similar fare in kind of an old log cabin structure with a fireplace. The staff members were great and served me even though I discovered the restaurant late one night about 20 minutes before closing. Perhaps because of the lateness of the hour, the scallops, salad, and baked potato were sadly mediocre.

We have been going to KY Lake for years, passed by this place many times and finally made it there this past saturday night. I would say it was a good choice for dinner, So many choices, but we had the steak /shrimp/pasta dinner special along with the fried asparagus and crab cakes appetizers — the cakes were good but the dip lacked a bit of WAM flavor. Baring the crab cakes, the food was good, service right on and the salad nice and fresh. A mixed drink would have been nice with dinner and i do not know if they have alcohol service. Many places in the area do not. My advice, dress nice and make a special evening of it at the Brass Lantern.

On Memorial Day Weekend we called for a reservation and the lady on the phone said that they may close early due to business being slow, but if we were there before 8: PM they would happily serve us. Making it in the door just before 8: PM to be seated was most likely not a good idea, we took our chances and were seated in the main dinning room, a lovely place. We placed our appetizer order while looking over the menu. Due to the fact that my sweetheart has an allergy to Gluten and most of the appetizers were fried we chose the Seared Scallops, now as not to waste time and knowing they wanted to close early we made our dinner choices, the 14oz Sirloin cooked Medium and the Seared Ahi Tuna with the the marinade on the side as these marinade usually have soy sauce in them and most soy sauces have gluten. Now our appetizer came to the table Fried Scallops ? We looked at the plate and looked at each other, then we asked to see the menu again, we were sure that we ordered the Seared Scallops, the owner came over and asked if there was a problem and we asked about the Scallops and told her about my Sweetie’s gluten allergy, she stated that you can have the scallops Seared or Fried, she never offered to take them back and prepare them seared as we were sure that we ordered or to prepare something else for us. Now comes the dinner, my Steak was cooked perfectly medium, but, the Ahi Tuna was over cooked. Needless to say my sweetheart did not have a good dinner or experience at the Brass Lantern however, we will give them another chance as we all know that anyone can have a bad day and it was not all bad, their place is a charming spot just off of the lake. I did read on their website that the owners moved to Kentucky to open this restaurant, the husband has many years of experience in restaurant management and the wife has a bookeeping background, this must have been the bookeeper we encountered as her hospitality and customer service was not her strong suit.

This was the closest thing to a «fancy restaurant» that we ate at on our trip. The prices are higher than other restaurants in the area, but the level of service and cuisine are also higher. However, no vegetables other than the salad bar, which is basically just that: salad. I was a bit skeptical, but ordered a beef filet. Happily, it was cooked wonderfully(they seared it and pulled it off when it stopped mooing). We also had the fried oysters as an appetizer, which came with some popcorn shrimp. The shrimp were very Red Lobster, but the oysters were done surprisingly well, especially since it’s reasonably sure they came from a can. This was also the only restaurant that didn’t look askance when we brought in a bottle of wine. We still got the long stare from the patrons, as we weren’t in the requisite polo shirts & dockers(which apparently is the«fancy uniform» of the region). Note to self: take fewer button down shirts on my next trip to Kentucky Lake. . The service was excellent, and there was actually a method to their décor. It was still country, but a slightly more elegant version. However, the restaurant lost it’s chance for a 4-star rating: my brother added the salad bar to his meal; a dinner salad came with my meal and my father’s, so we didn’t add it. As my brother stood at the salad bar making his platter, our waitress stood next to him… making a salad for my father & me. You can’t make this stuff up.
