I had friends visiting from Cincinnati, Oh. I took them here for the best burger in town. They loved it!

In from Fort Sill for a few days and got to talking best burgers with a buddy. He said you have to try this place. He was right! Now is it the best burger I’ve ever had? Don’t know but comes close. But it’s definitely the best value I know for a great big(at least 1/3lb) flavorful cheeseburger, fresh home cut, sweet battered onion rings, and a drink. Only $ 6! Clean facility and restrooms. And I like the little American flag touch toothpick garnish. Can’t go wrong here. :)

Black Meg 43 used to be a value leader and that’s what they built their burger business explosion on. It also didn’t hurt that the burgers and fries were pretty good. Now, however, they have raised their burger combo price again, including up charge for cheese(previously it was the cheeseburger combo) and the quality of the food was noticeably not the same. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the employees don’t present themselves professionally, or even hospitably. Upon arrival, there were two employees in the parking lot smoking as I drove by. The weird techno music did nothing to add to the experience, and it conflicted with the loud music coming from the kitchen area. The women’s restroom, I’m told, was not clean, was out of toilet paper and the trash can was overflowing. At these prices and with this type of experience, I’d rather go to Fuddruckers for a better burger, friendlier employees, a better environment and all around better experience.

I have eaten at MEG43 several times over the last month. The burgers are very good and the fries nice and hot. The selection of burgers(el Diablo is my favorite) are ample and its not your typical fast food style burgers. The MEG sauce is also perfect for fries and burgers. Even though service is at time is hit or miss, the food is great and I would recommend this place.

Can’t beat these burgers and can’t beat the price. It might be slow at times but your getting real beef, not pink slime.

This place came recommended by a few people, maybe my hopes were too high gong in. The burgers were not impressive, now the milkshake was great(thick like Cookout). The service was sad too.

Not as greasy as Billy Bob’s and in like their shakes as well better on the price so there more for more regular purchase instead of every now and then like their fries the spices on them are unique I think that if you put there spice on the Billy Bob Friday you have the most awesome fries ever it’s easy to get to from my house and the Meg sauce is awsome

Very interesting that I read the reviews before going to this restaurant, and said to myself. «Self, how bad could it be.» Well, I think I found it. It started with ordering, and for whatever reason unknown to me, the young lady at the register couldn’t take an order if the restraints business depended on it. I mean, you have a computer in front of you, and all you have to do is push buttons. I simply asked for a cheeseburger, cut in half, with Meg sauce on the side, and a Salad. Grand total, $ 10 Well, what did I order you may ask? … Scroll back about 60 letters, and start there. What I ordered didn’t matter, because she gave me a combo. I didn’t ask for a combo. I tell her, I don’t drink soda, and she says, «we have bottled water.» I didn’t ask for a combo, so just stick with the burger. … She forgot to put cheese on the ticket, so she had to yell to the back. Oh yeah, she also had to tell them to put the Meg sauce on the side. Oh, and also to cut it. Well, I get it home, and look at it, and there is a piece of cheese that looks like a post it note, on this dry a$$ looking burger, with a few shreds of lettuce, and a roma tomato right in the middle for, Decoration? Oh yeah, not to mention, the burger wasn’t cut in half … I haven’t even tasted the burger because it makes me upset when something looks opposite of what you think it should be based off of these rave reviews. I think I may have caught this place on a bad day, but with In & Out Burger just opening, I’d think their game would be Turnt all the way up.

They started off with a really good deal and then raised the price which is fine but now the Quality just seems to be on a downward decline. It took entirely too long to receive luke warm food I wont be returning anytime in the near future

I walked right up to the counter and ordered a Black Meg Burger Combo to go, 20 minutes later they called my number! I asked why it took so long and they said they had a lot of orders ahead of mine. The burger was definitely not worth the wait. By the time I got home, the grease and sauce made the bun soggy and the burger fell apart.

I’ve tried Black Meg a handful of times and I have to say I think I’ve made up my mind not to give it another go. It just isn’t very good regardless of the«cheap» price. Getting a single burger without the combo deal is actually more expensive than a lot of other burger places when you compare burger to burger. The burger flavor is lacking, the service is consistently lacking, and both of the locations I have been to are totally uninviting. I would never take a guest from out of town here. Considering it is local you would think it would be better. They need to look to P. Terry’s in Austin to see how to run a small burger chain. P. Terry’s is much cleaner, tastier, has better service and is just as cheap if not cheaper. The one thing I do really like is their French fries. They have a unique seasoning and great texture that I like much more than any other burger or fast food chain, local or otherwise.

Black Meg 43 gets three stars only for the delicious real milk shake; without it a solid 2-star experience. I had the El Diablo burger and my wife had a cheese burger. I really like the spicy«cactus jam» on mine, otherwise pretty mediocre. The burger was not fresh hand patted, and really seemed like a typical fastfood type frozen patty on a store bought sesame bun. Nothing like the juicy pics on the website, and not what I expect from a place advertising a «better burger.» We went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was apparently understaffed, which was evident from the exasperated way the girl on the counter kept yelling back to the kitchen for help and to expedite waiting orders. She was very friendly to all the customers though. Curiosity satisfied, but no compelling reason to return. I’ll go to Billy Bobs or Five Guys instead for a fast delicious burger. By the way, I see the other reviews here, and I’m at a loss. I know tastes here aren’t as cosmopolitan as other places I’ve lived, but I would have thought people would know their beef products around here. Possibly the kitchen ran out of the good burgers everyone else was raving about, and they had to go to backup frozen stock, but the burger I had was NOT good meat.

Now I’ve ate plenty of hamburgers in my lifetime(my gut can attest to that) and I must say, that these are the one of the best in the area. Also, where else can you get a cheeseburger combo for $ 5?! Yes, that includes a large drink and fries — tax INCLUDED with your choice of cheese(American, cheddar, pepper jack, and swiss?). You might think that you’re getting a White Castle-sized slider for that price. Oh no no, it’s huge(that’s what she said). The patty is thick, juicy, and seasoned just right; the Meg’s sauce also gives it a nice zing. And, the fries? Addicting. they’ve got a lil’ spicy kick to them. Best bang for your buck. Service can be lacking, at times. Some of the cashiers appear to be having a bad day while taking your order, but you rarely wait that long so you’re in and out before you know it. — No drive-thru — Dining area

Originally I seen the Black Meg on Rancier & wanted to try it, but since we were in the area, decided to try this location :) The menu is short & simple in BOLD letter, you really can’t get confused, which is a plus for me! I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger combo, at first I was skeptical because it had no ketchup LOL.(Which I could have just added in if I wanted to) but lord Jesus, this burger was amazing! LOVEDIT! The flavor was all there & it was very moist! Unfortunately my husband ordered the Spicy chicken sandwich & didn’t like it, he said it was dry & didn’t have much flavor. So this place would have gotten 5 stars, but my husbands opinion has to count along with mine: p

We didn’t even know this Black Meg was here! I love Black Megs. They definitely are one of my favorite places to get a burger in the Harker Heights/Killeen area. I went a little off course and got the mushroom swiss burger. I did not regret that decision. It was delicious! Their fries are always perfectly seasoned and the food is always served hot. I think it took a little longer than usual when we came by, almost 30 minutes to get our food, but I really like Black Megs so I wouldn’t dock them stars for that. We also grabbed an order of chicken tenders as a side to go with our meals. They don’t look like they would be very good, but they are actually pretty delicious. I loved them. I would come back for everything on the menu. Black Megs is by far my favorite.

The cheeseburger combo meal is a great deal — $ 5 for a burger with everything(or as little as you want — you can’t add bacon though, you would actually have to order the bacon burger which is more than $ 5), drink & fries. The burger was very moist, juicy and delicious. Cooked perfectly. Wasn’t greasy either like some burger joints can be. The fries were also really good. I loved the seasoning. I knocked off 1 star because the staff wasn’t very friendly. One of them called out our order number so I flagged them down… the staff member just shook their head, said«no it’s not you.». Kind of rude. I had to walk up to her and show her my receipt to prove it was our order.

This is my second time to come to the black meg 43. The first time I was here I ordered there original cheeseburger combo. It was delicious slightly dry on the hand pressed patti but that could happen to anyone. The fries were also very good but floppy. Today I came back because I was told to spend some money. I decided to try a different burger. I ordered the El Diablo which has Avacado, jack cheese, and ghost pepper & cactus jam. The burger was moist jam wasn’t super hot like I expected and the fries were slightly crunchy with the soft center just like I like. If you have never been here u need to give it a shot.
