Zum Edelweiss serves good, solid German food. The Schnitzels are huge and the salads taste fresh. The only two problems I have with the place are the ambiance and the gravy. They could try a little harder to make the place look nice — getting rid of the torn, plastic tablecloths would be a good place to start. Also, the gravy tastes like it came out of a can.

We had a military function at this restaurant. The food was amazing, and the portions were huge. I can’t wait to bring other family members to eat here.

Hadn’t been here in a while… Let’s just say the food is still awesome and the owner is just as colorful as always!

Friday 1:30 and there was only one table occupied when we arrived. I was a little worried but was hoping we just missed the lunch crowd and that fellow Unilocalers weren’t steering me wrong as we decided to try Zum for the first time. They were off to a MUCH better start than the other German place in town(Opa’s) as we had just left that place for not even waiting on us. Nothing to worry about in that department here at Zum. The lady running the show greeted us quickly with a friendly smile. Customer Service 5 stars, helpful, friendly, welcoming. We ordered and it didn’t take too terribly long which was good since we were pretty hungry. Even with big appetites we couldn’t finish it all! Nice big portions here. I ordered jaggerschnitzel with red cabbage and spatzle. I had first ordered green bean salad and to my surprise I was allergic to something in it and knew it immediately. I found out what it was with the help of the waitress. She even brought out the questionable ingredient for me to check on it while I gulped water to reverse the effects. I was fine and thankful for her help. Note to self: be careful trying new restaurants and new dishes and ask about ingredients before ordering! My husband had a sampler plate and loved the knocktworst(Sp?) and schnitzel. He also ordered Mandarin Orange Cake for dessert. He liked it well and I thought it was ok, something easily replicated in my own kitchen though(most of it is but I love to cook and bake and it’s nice to have a break every once in awhile). Overall we enjoyed the service and food and we would be go back. PS loved the spices that seemed to work so well together in the red cabbage! Yum!

First time having German food and man can I say YUM. My boyfriend loved it too! We had huge slices of cake afterwards as well. Can’t go wrong! The waitress was also super friendly and actually sat down to explain what everything on the menu was.

Authentic German restaurant.. If you miss Germany pay this place a visit. Service is good and the waitresses are fun. The décor isn’t fancy, but many restaurants in Germany look the same. We had schnitzel this evening. We enjoyed our dinner.

I have had my share of German cuisine and I have to say that I am disappointed with this place. The schnitzel is not scratch made and the home fries were pretty burnt. This place has nothing on the German Imbiss in Copperas Cove. Maybe I came when they were having a off day! I guess I will stick with the German Imbiss!

Quality has greatly gone done hill since just over a year ago. Besides not giving me what I initially ordered, the quality has significantly decreased and was very disappointed overall. For example they serve canned mushrooms with an American type turkey gravy on the jäger schnitzel. I can go on but it is not worth the time. I will not be returning. This restaurant has definitely lost touch with its German roots!

Excellent food, you get a ton for the price and if I’m not mistaken it’s all homemade and family run. We let my daughter pick a piece of cake and I don’t know what kind of cake it was but it was delicious and a big enough piece to share with four.

The food here was AMAZING! My husband and I both had rahmschnitzel with spatzle, my sister-in-law had wienerschnitzel with french fries and red cabbage, and my daughter had the kids wienerschnitzel with french fries, and afterwards, even though we were all stuffed, we split a gigantic piece of mandarin cake. The portions were very large — I could only eat half of my meal, and I took the rest to work for lunch the next day. Everything was great! At other restaurants I’ve been to that serve schnitzel, the piece of meat is about half fat and gristle, but here the meat is 100% edible, and so delicious! I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, if not for the fact that service was a little slow. There was only one waitress, and so it took a little while to get drink refills. This wasn’t due to bad service — she was very sweet, and got refills as soon as we asked, but we did have to ask… Overall a great experience. We will be going back again and again.

Just like everyone else… it’s next to a smelly Tejano bar but the food was great. Servings were HUGE. Menu was limited but it’s authentic. The jäger schnitzel was perfect. The spatzle was spot on.

It was great! My wife and I went today. She had Zwiebelschnitzel, I had Jaegerschnitzel. Both were very good! We were the only ones there and sat and talked to the owners for over an hour.(We were too early for Oktoberfest.) It was a typical German experience. We took home a Schwartzwalderkirsch torte and an orange cake as well. It was the best Schwartzwalderkirsch torte I have had. It was not too sweet, but absolutely delicious. Don’t be put off by the location, it is a great place to eat!

We ate here tonight and it was lovely. The staff, the service, and the food were all wonderful. We arrived at the end of the Oktoberfest crowd so we still had live music for a bit. I had rahmschnitzel with potato salad and spätzel and my husband had the Oktoberfest sampler. Everything was so fresh and better than we imagined. If we lived in the area I am sure we would be regulars. So glad we found this place on Unilocal

Great little slice of Germany! Limited menu though, if you don’t like any of the variations of schnitzel your options are limited, but the schnitzel menu is very good. Good German beers reasonably priced. Enormous slices if cake for desert! Will be back for more!

Such an authentic little restaurant with an awesome German beer selection. Don’t expect something fancy, might be a little rough for some people but overall this restaurant won us over.

Such a cute place! I only came in to pick up a slice of cake. I was doing a progressive dinner alone based on friends’ recommendations. Dessert came highly recommended here and it did not disappoint. Homemade cakes the size of a large pizza! I had a tangerine cream naughty slice of heaven!

Ok, what’s going on Zum Edelweiss? I gave you a 5* rating and now you’ve ruined it. I’ve visited a handful of times over the months, and each time, the quality of food keeps going downhill. The jagerschnitzel is sometimes overcooked, the mushroom gravy is thick and lumpy, and the mashed potatoes looked and tasted like they’ve been sitting out all day. I’ve heard from another server that there are two cooks. Well, I must be unlucky being served by the worst one each time. Take pride in your food, whoever you are, and quit serving this crap to your customers! It’s too bad that there’s not many German restaurants in the area that’s close to where I live, so that’s the only reason why I was generous and gave 3* due to location and convenience. Oh, and don’t bother buying the gummy bears($ 2.50/bag) by the register. You can get a HUGE bag(2 lb, 8 oz) for about $ 4 from HEB(Hill Country Fare brand). They are the SAMETHING. The lady lied to me and said that they were imported from Germany. What a ripoff…

Good food but it didn’t «wow» me — a lot like the other German places I have been to. If you want REALLY good schnitzel, check out German Imbiss in Cove.

Having spent time in Germany while serving in the Military Band, I KNOW a thing or two about Good German food. Well, I’m here to tell ya… Zum Edelweiss German Restaurant does not serve ‘good’ german food. My meal was a classic example of World-Class European cuisine at its best! I plan to tell all of my friends and business associates. Zum Edelweiss German Restaurant ist Sehr Gutes!
