We had both positive and negative experiences reserving multiple rooms for our family. However, things ended on a bad note as the management of this place is very poor. We dealt with a number of issues. The owner, Jane, who also does the booking, is not present whatsoever. I’ve seen other reviews on Tripadvisor in which people never hear back when inquiring about a reservation. We had to hound her to get any response! We wanted to make our reservations 6+ months in advance, and it took several weeks for the owner to respond and take our payment. We also had to call with our credit card info, and even scheduling that was not efficient. For one of the rooms, we added an extra day, and had to check with her numerous times over a month that she actually charged the card. Here’s the worst thing that happened: We received an invoice which didn’t itemize the rooms we booked, yet they were all listed on there. When we finally arrived at the hotel, Jane had double-booked one of the rooms we had reserved for my brother, his wife, and his two children. My brother’s family was left to find a place to stay, practically in the middle of nowhere, at 5PM. The only assistance Jane provided was a place to stay at her husband’s hotel, which looked sketchy. Sure, she made a slight attempt but it did not compare to her hotel. When we tried to get her to cover the costs of where they ended up staying, which were comparable to their room at her hotel, she became non-responsive. What a crook! In addition, Jane blamed us and said we never reserved the room. She’s rude and won’t take responsibility for her error. The management of this place can induce a headache, and in our case, lead to simple errors that ruined a vacation. If you really want to risk staying at this place, you will have to triple check your reservation and spend a lot of time just making it. There is no professional, streamlined booking process or paperwork. This place needs to step up its administration and hospitality practices tenfold!

The perfect location! Fresh Lobster on your deck over looking water, hiking, and picturesque views– YES, YES, YES! Oh and a relatively big city close by, in case it gets too quite– YES! I did a lot of research before settling on the Quahog Bay Inn. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in Maine, but still want to be relatively close to Portland – this is it. My Fiancé and I were the first to get engaged at the Quahog Bay Inn and it was so perfect! Jane and her family made us feel like we were celebrating this momentous occasion with family. My Fiancé was able to arrange champagne and flowers to be set in our room when we got back from our beautiful hike at the Giant Stairs. It was so easy and very special. Overall, the room was very clean(The inn is only three years old and family run), charming, and provided an amazing view of the water. The location of the inn is perfect for a bit of quietness and an assortment of activities. We visited several good hikes in the local area and it was only about 30 minutes from Portland where were able to go for a special dinner. I would definitely recommend you stay here. We will be back!
