Went for dinner last night and it was dead. Not a good sign. The bar was somewhat full but the dining area was empty. Our server was awesome, but told us they were short on some ingredients due to the holidays and delivery was slow. We understood, got the meatloaf and a burger with a side of corn fritters. The food was amazing and we had zero complaints. Our server was constantly checking on us and we left extremely satisfied. We will return. Hopefully people read this and try their food out. It doesn’t deserve to be that empty!!!

Tried to play my favorite song and they turned off the juke box. It was with arms wide open by creed.

This place is a more comfortable version of a sports bar. The service is consistently good and the atmosphere is nice. However, if you’re seated near the windows they can be a bit drafty. I have tried several things over multiple visits. I tried the crab dip, which had good flavor, but was a runny. The salmon entrée was dry and flavorless. The shrimp po boy is very good. It has perfectly fried shrimp on a soft roll with a yummy remoulade. The special the other night was a vegetable lasagna, which was delicious. I also tried the poblano corn stuffing special, which was very good. It had a nice Mexican flavor and was a good side dish. A friend ordered the crab stuffed tilapia with a hollandaise sauce and did not like it. She said it was bland & a bit dry. I could see the hollandaise sauce was a pudding consistency. The draft beer selection isn’t very large, but they have the main ones plus a decent bottle selection. Overall, this is a nice place to go, but the food can be hit or miss.

We tried this place twice. It has ok bar food. Nothing to get excited about. Atmosphere just seems little different to me. Just don’t feel the need to revisit.

Fantastic experience! Really fun. I was with a group of 5, and we chose this place because it has two vegan items(not including salads) in a sea of central Pennsylvania chicken wings and pretzel bits.(Of course, our table ordered chicken wings and pretzel bits, but I’ll get to that!) We were there pretty early on a Saturday night so we got a great table. Our server was Taylor and she was excellent. We took her suggestions and everyone loved their food! Chicken pot pie– the star. It was beautiful and scrumptious, with big chunks of chicken, carrots, peas, potatoes. It looked amazing. Crab cakes– listed as «no filler» and guess what? NO filler! Luscious. Chicken Cubano– juicy, cheesy, flavorful. Take a pass on the waffle fries and stick to the sweet potato fries or other sides. Vegan strudel– very, very nice. Flaky and savory, not at all dry, great flavors. Baby green beans as a side were also quite good, butter or no butter, and side salad was made with nice lettuces and veggies. Crab dip with(yes) pretzels– good crab, good flavor, a bit loose. Pretzels were excellent, though we needed more and were charged for extra. Chicken wings– the Moose variety outshined the«hot» variety. Extra charge for splitting the flavors was not mentioned when we ordered. Beer, wine and cocktails– didn’t suck. Peanut butter pie– GETIT. It was a really fun place that happily met a lot of diverse dietary needs and was yummy. Maybe a teeny bit over-priced for Linglestown, but maybe not, considering how great it all was. We’ll be back!

Great place hidden off the beaten path. We visited there on 10÷31÷15. The Chicken Cubano was fantastic! Cannot beat affordable beer prices either. A pitcher of beer(4 beers) was only $ 6. Service was friendly and attentive. Only negatives is that the building needs to be updated. The walls are starting to bubble and there’s a hole with the insulation showing. At the very least, it needs to be dusted. Next to our table, the window had cobwebs, as well as, the bathroom mirrors. Also, I am not convinced that the ketchup in the Heinz bottles is Heinz ketchup. It tastes like cheap ketchup and I wonder if they refill the bottles with the cheap stuff? Regardless, it’s a GREAT place if you’re looking for a low key evening with cheap beer and great tasting food at affordable prices.

What a nice little surprise this was. The food was great, service was outstanding(thanks to Cat… our server), and the beer choices were plenty and tasty. We had the crab/cheese dip with soft warm pretzels to start. Very delicious. I had the crab cake dinner with sweet potato fries and green beans. The food tasted like it was made in your mom’s kitchen. Loved it! We sat on the outdoor patio… the atmosphere is lovely. Eat here!

Came in tonight for dinner. Didn’t even eat. We were sat and immediately heard a server talking to the hostess about how she was seating people too separated from each other. Saw two servers pass us multiple times without even acknowledging us. Two tables were sat after we came in and one was gotten drinks and the other greeted while we still were not even seen. I work in a restaurant and I understand the struggle, but we waited for twenty minutes without being observed at all. Actually one server did look at us multiple times as if we were rude for coming into the restaurant, and still didn’t even try to interact. Before we left I saw they had one more server and as we left she said to have a great night without even noticing our table was still fully set. The hostess was oblivious to everything and I would not come in again with the lack of service provided.

We tried the Blue Moose for the first time this evening. I had never heard of it before seeing it included in PennLive’s hidden gems article. The casual atmosphere appealed to me after looking at their web site, and I got to pick the restaurant so decided to try it. We got really lucky and immediately found a parking space in the crowded lot, and got even luckier when we got seated promptly without a reservation. There were many people waiting for tables but I think they must have been larger parties and we lucked out with a just vacated two-top. The quick whirlwind ground to a halt once we were seated and the rest of the experience happened in slo-mo. It took a long time for our server to greet us and take a drink order. By the time she arrived, we had already decided what to order but she sked our drink choices and ran away too quickly for us to order apps. When she came back with our beer and cider(note they have great daily beer specials), we ordered boneless wings for our app, the hubby chose cornflake crusted tilapia for his entrée and I chose the pork shanks. Salads arrived before the wings. The low fat zinfandel dressing was a little too sweet for me but the salad had a nice assortment of veggies and was fresh and crispy. Wings came next. We started on them, and they were darn good. Crispy and nicely hot and saucy. But by this time our drinks were empty and the waitress wasn’t coming back. So we were dry during the wing experience. Finally my second drink came, but we had to wait several more minutesl for hubby’s beer. We sat and waited a long time before the entrees came, and most of that time, hubby didn’t even have a drink to sip on. Finally the entrees came, and THEN the beer. We both liked our main dishes. The tilapia was crispy and light, and the pork shanks were tender with plenty of smoky sweet barbecue sauce. The green beans I ordered as a side were just OK, a little undercooked and underseasoned. Hubby liked his coleslaw. After another big wait, we got our check and the server came back quickly to pick it up. The whole experience took about two hours, much longer than the quick Friday night casual bite I expected. But the food was good and I think we will try the Blue Moose again on a less busy night.

Laminated drink menu with all American drafts. A few local brews on the bottles list, but seriously. I can drive to at least 5 breweries and 3 wineries and your beer list is ALL big name, crap beer? And it’s in a spiral bound, laminated book? Jeez. If you’re going to be a bar, at least TRY to be a bar. I know there’s a demographic that really digs the dive bar vibe, but I am not part of that demographic. I ordered a beer and the pretzels. I got some microwaved sauce with a nice and disgusting film on top. Needless to say, I didn’t try it. The pretzels were fine, but also probably cooked in a microwave. One saving grace is that the deck is very nice. A few pretty trees shield you from the road, so enjoyable to sit outside. Just ignore the creepy service and don’t order anything to eat. Or drink.

Driving through Harrisburg and found this place through Unilocal.Food was delicious! I had the Vegan Strudel(I’m not a vegan or vegetarian) and glad I did. I wanted something light and this strudel has sautéed veggies and vegan cheese wrapped in phyllo dough. Very filling and it tasted very fattening! My husband had a huge burger called the Monster Moose. 2 third pound patties, fried onion petals, fried mac n cheese bites with BBQ sauce. He didn’t even eat half and had to stop. He said it was fantastic but make sure you are very hungry! The reason I gave this place a 4 because of dessert. I had the vanilla bean crème brûlée and it was just ok. I am a snob about crème brûlée and theirs had problems. First of all it was curdled a little. Should have been smooth and creamy. Second, I had no vanilla bean in mine. Probably a mixing problem? Tasted fine but needs work

Food was great! I got the pork shanklets, they had a good kick to them. Overall portions are on the small side but the quality of the food is outstanding! Next time I would get the Chicken pot pie.

Ordered the adult Mac and Cheese and the portion size was perfect, just enough to fill you up without that«blech» feeling. It was delicious, and definitely something you won’t find anywhere else. My husband ordered the pork shank, and was extremely satisfied with his meal. The bar has a nice range of mixed drinks and beers to choose from, all reasonably priced. This is my fourth visit, and I’ll definitely be back!

Unbelievable. We are from Jersey and were here in Harrisburg for the day. Found this jem on Unilocal and had a fabulous experience. Drinks were cold. Food was just as I ordered. The corn fritters are to die for. Wings were crispy. Order them with the Moose Magic Sauce!!! Staff is inviting and friendly. In the future I will travel 2 ½ hours just to eat here. Thank you Blue Moose!!!

This five star rating is for the wings. We have been there twice… Each time for wings and wine. These are the best wings we have ever had. The chicken was very fresh tasting. The wings were cooked to perfection, not super crunchy, yet delicious. Mild, bone in. Need I say more?

4 nights in Harrisburg, 4 trips to the Blue Moose. Friendly locals and staff, every meal has been very good. If you’re on the east side of the river it’s about a 20 min drive, but well worth it.

If you are interested in beer go for it. The food is another matter. The ingredients are not fresh. The fish tacos are uninspiring with minimal vegetable and fish filling in a taco. The Italian cold cut should be renamed the«Lettuce Sub» with a couple of cold cut slices. I’d have ordered the Philly steak and cheese but the waitress didn’t know if the steak was cut on the premises or steak’ems and did not offer to find out. The corn fritters came with maple syrup on them which detracted from the experience in my opinion. Why this place has good reviews is beyond me. The only positive was it was fairly quiet for a sports bar.

I always wanted to go here when this place was Sasha’s. Never made it. Now I am not a drinker, and the fact that I am not almost makes me feel bad fro writing a review here because most everyone is ranting about the beers, but I go for the food. I’ve been here several times, each time expecting to be wowed more than before, but the results have been staggering. The first time I ate here I shared a Meatball Slider appetizer. It was decent, and the meal to follow wasn’t bad either, but I don’t feel that the price was justified. Also, on this particular visit the place was hellishly hot. I mean unbearable. And the server didn’t seem to acknowledge our remarks about it. The second time I came I got the Chicken Pie. It really didn’t look that good, and it didn’t taste all that great either. Looking at the interior, I think Sasha’s would have been a better experience, but sadly they are gone and this is left in its place. Again, if I were going out to drink I might have a greater appreciation for the joint, but as it stands as a restaurant I could take it or leave it.
