Update: I tried one of their subs and was not pleased with the soft, soggy bread they bake.

ALTHOUGHLIO’S PIZZAHASCLOSED, THEBUSINESSREMAINSOPENANDISNOWNAMEDPACKER’S PIZZA. The Lio family retired in early November 2013 and sold the business to two long-term employees, who got all of the recipes as part of the deal. The menu, and, so far, the quality have not changed under new ownership.

Update; how Packers got Unilocal to change the name on this on this is probably just wrong! All these reviews are for the now closed Lio’s. They didn’t buy the name or the integrity, just the equipment. And equipment does NOT make good food. Old review for LIO’S; Yep, I’m picky. So a 4 is very good! I don’t want anyone else’s pizza, theirs has just the right flavor. And a baked Italian couldn’t be finer. Some other items don’t quite hit it for me, but those are personal preferences. Take cash. Expect to wait. It’s all worth it.

5 stars for the type of restaurant, a pizzeria. I went to Lio’s on two different occasions. The first time we ordered two italian subs, one regular and the other baked. As previous reviews have noted, the bread is delicious and freshly cooked on premises. The baked sub really hit the spot. It cheese was melted and the meats crisped up a little. Excellent. We returned and ordered a pizza. On monday evenings, you get a free topping on each pizza you order. With the promotion, a large 1 topping pizza cost about $ 11. It was cooked well and the dough was delicious. Overall, Lio’s is by far the best pizza in the area(although it is not much of a competition considering how terrible some of the surrounding pizza places are.) The service was friendly both times. It appears that this restaurant is family owned and operated. Lio’s is certainly worth a stop if you are in the area.

Lio’s has great pizza, subs and calzones. I usually get a slice of cheese with a sub or a mini calzone. I like their salami and cheese sub, particularly. They use good meat for their sandwiches. The food is fairly well priced, and the interior has a classic look to it. There’s a decent parking lot in back of the building that can be accessed from Linglestown Road or Blackberry Lane via Mountain Road.

I give Lio’s a 4 and I will explain. Great pizza. Most pizza in Harrisburg stinks! I like the«old school» feel of Lio’s. They don’t accept credit cards, so make sure you have cash. Here are my only complaints– they close at like 9 p.m. My other complaint is that we went for dinner one night and decided to eat there. It was around 8. By 8:30, they were starting to turn down the lights. I figured at that point we should leave, so we packed up the remaining slices and went home to finish our dinner. Pet peeve of mine. I don’t like feeling rushed out of places…

Great family owned traditional pizza shop near linglestown square. Very good grilled chicken sub/salad. No frills, cash only. Interesting old pictures of linglestown on the walls. Never empty.

I grew up with Lio’s, and after leaving the area for almost 15 years and coming back, it’s as good as I remember it. The best thing here are the subs… the sub rolls are fresh baked using their great pizza dough. Never had another sub like it anywhere… so good they always stuck in my head even when I was in NYC and surrounded by great food. Pizza is pretty good by Central PA standards, but not even close to NYC/NJ pizza joints. No matter, the subs are where it’s at! And the video game machine they have I swear is the same one we used to play when I was at Linglestown Junior High, where we used to come with friends after school, put quarters in the juke box, get a couple and slices and a coke, and bang away at the video game. Lio’s is a great place!

Everytime I’m home, this is the first place I go. By far, the best pizza shop that I’ve ever been to. They have the best bread for their rolls. My favorite is the italian sub, though the turkey and cheese is excellent, too. This is also the cleanest restaurant that I’ve ever seen. You could almost eat off of the floors. I’d highly recommend this one, especially if you’re hungry for a sub.

Lios means cheese. dont ever order extra cheese or you’ll choke. This place is pretty good, they have parking in the lot behind the store and although its kinda strange and hard to get to its part of the charm of this place. It’s always hot inside from the oven. been in business since 1984. they have fries, salads, onion rings, but their specialty is pizza, subs & bolis. they never ever have any coupons and only take cash as payment. their restaurant is pretty neat, it has they old time-y pictures of linglestown and paxtonia if you go inside. like old time-y pictures from the 1890’s. has school, home of thomas lingle, founder of linglestown, stage coach shop, original size of flagpole, beaver creek, fire trucks, bus in linglestown, etc. they also sell middleswarth chips which are my favorite, small, medium and large sizes.
