I would not try this place again. The chicken tasted old and there wasn’t enough sauce. The brisket sandwich was really dry and the mashed potatoes are made from a box don’t bother

Stop with the overcrowded beer/burger bars down the street. Stahp. Come here if you’re into succulent porky Bbq truth. Free parking and table space. Purple ice cream at the place next door. Fries are crunchy! 4 kinds of sauce! Would chow again!

The people here are very nice. We got there at closing and they still let us order food. The barbecue sauce which is the house special was great. The ribs on the other hand were very, very dry maybe because it was the end of the night.

I had been planning to go to Little Grill Collective like a good liberal vegetarian, but when that was closed for repairs, I resolved to eat a pig. Now, I may be pilloried for saying this, but here goes: I grew up near a barbecue place, right in West Newton, MA, that beats a lot of average places in the south. Not saying all, and not saying the best ones, but it set a high bar.(It’s called Blue Ribbon, and you should go there right now.) So once again, I stopped in a random southern barbecue joint, and once again, I was a bit disappointed. The pulled pork was a bit *too* pulled, having little structure or texture remaining. Do a google image search for«pulled pork» and you see sumptuous, tender morsels, cut into wide strips that fall apart into matchstick-sized clumps. This pulled pork was much more disintegrated than that, looking more like a hearty sauce. The baked beans were likewise somewhat nondescript. The sauce was very sweet and somewhat thin. The best baked beans crash molasses and bacon like particles in an accelerator, unleashing a riot of flavors that clobber you until you cry uncle and reach for your tea. This did not do that. This did not even slap me around a little. It was just beans. All that said, it was enjoyable, and I’m glad that I had some barbecue. If I happened to need a lunch in Harrisonburg, one could do worse than to find it right here.

Yum! I was rolling down interstate 81 and got the urge for some barbecue. Looked up on Unilocal and saw a bunch of choices. For some reason I was attracted to this one. We got there and found some very friendly people. The food came out quick and oh my goodness was it good! I had a half chicken and loved it. I tried all the sauces and they’re all great. Coleslaw was good, fries were good. My wife had a chicken sandwich and loved it. Big thumbs up. We will be back

Visiting thw area and always look for bbq joints. Ordered a brisket sandwich and was not able to eat. Brisket was not tender at all. My guess is that it was over cooked. My search for good bbq continues. The bbq sauce was good.

Overly priced, spent $ 90 to feed a family of four. The ribs were so tough you have to pull and work them apart. The brisket was unlike anything meat I’ve tasted… Terrible. Pulled pork was dry. Pulled chicken was tasteless. Fried pickle was just a spear with minimal breading. Potato salad was diced potato in mayonnaise. No taste. What taste did stick out was the fake, over powering smoke«flavor» on the meat.

Overall, I wasn’t super impressed. The meat had good bark, but was dry and lacking in flavor. Sauce was OK, but nothing special. I did get a fried pickle that was terrific, though — grab a couple for a snack then get yourself next door to Kline’s for some fantastic custard.

Good pig. Smokey. Jon Boyz sauce on target sweet and a little bit hot. Maybe not hot enough. Would go back but not on a football weekend.

I ordered the brisket sandwich with«hot fries» and BBQ beans. The brisket on my sandwich was tender and nicely smoked. But I was disappointed to find that the BBQ sauce, fries, and beans seemed to be simply store bought with no modifications. I am calling for more here. To labor so much in the meat smoking process and neglect these essential areas of the BBQ experience does not make sense to me. Wish you the best.

On business trip from New Jersey and found this location along the way. Had the burnt ends with a side of the baked beans and Potato salad. The food and the service were very good and would recommend to anyone looking for some good food at a fair price.

Tasty, affordable barbecue and good service. A nice addition to downtown, and the perfect compliment to that iconic ice cream next door. I’ve noticed the service seems faster than it was back when this was The Smokin’ Pig. Would recommend.

Really yummy BBQ chicken and delicious cole slaw. The staff is super helpful and willing to have you sample anything before buying. The prices are reasonable and the food quality is high. We would definitely come back to try a sandwich — we had the ½ chicken and it was really filling.
