We ate here because we were needed a quick bite to eat and it was close to our hotel. Turns out that was a mistake. I’m going to have to agree that the service here is unnecessarily slow. We ordered a Cobb salad and a club sandwich, both of which were good but shouldn’t have taken too long to make. Our server was new, but nice and I don’t think our slow service was her fault. The restaurant was mostly empty and it took at least 45 minutes to get our food after ordering.

Good sandwiches, not a fan of the sides, service is SLOW but I’m pretty sure their server sections are all over the place. A cool bar especially in the summer, but again: still waiting for service to improve.

Food is very bland service is slow and very very poor. The fries tasted old and the waffle cone on the ice cream sundae tasted very stale and garlicky. Won’t be back at all. The grilled cheese was good though

Service was a little slow, however when a place is slammed busy, I expect to wait. Good food!

The chicken Alfredo was terrible. The chicken was rubbery and the noodles were plain round noodles. Very cheaply made for the price I paid. The sweet tea tastes like water, it was a waste of money. They also sat us down by the bar with screaming patrons without asking us if that was okay with us. I guess I should have ordered and sandwich since that makes up most of their menu.

Great sandwiches and a decent craft beer selection. Get the house made potato chips with some ranch dressing! Sandwiches have plenty of meat in them.

An exciting place to eat. There’s always something new to look at with all the music and sport oriented decorations. Lots of fun and lots of history on the wall. Very extensive menu great for all food pallet preferences.

Macado’s has a huge menu that features very mediocre food. There is little quality control – the sandwich you ordered yesterday is made differently today. I’ve been there many times and only once did the server seem to know what she/he was doing. Orders were given to the wrong people, bills contained items someone else had ordered. However, the prices are quite reasonable and the servings more than adequate. If you’re hungry and not picky about your food, you’ll likely be happy.

The food was delicious! I went with 3 other guys and they all loved their food and watching sports. We got fish taco, black bean con queso, boneless wings, the Reuben, and pastrami reuben. Fish taco and black bean con queso were so good! Black bean dip was almost perfect except it was a little too cheesy but I managed to finish all and the tortilla chips. The wings were okay. I think buffalo wild wings’s wings are better. The reubens were okay. My friends got them because they were on special deal($ 5 each i think). Overall, our server was friendly and food was not bad. I would recommend this place!

Eh. This place was not very good. The menu was humungous, which is never a good sign. There were just pages and pages of things to order so I imagined that the quality couldn’t have been that good. My roommates and I ordered an appetizer of fried pickles and they were ok. The waitress seemed to be all over the place and not really sure as to what she was supposed to be doing, but she didn’t look new. My roommate ordered some type of chicken parmesan which he thought was horrible, especially the cheese and pasta. I ordered some type of taco which chicken. The chicken was decent but some of the tacos were filled with toppings and then the others weren’t. My other roommate ordered a burger and he was sick by the time we go back home. My final complaint is a petty one, but the windows don’t even have shades. As the sun sets around dinner time or a little later(especially in the summer) you would think there would be shades to block the sun. We had to ask to move tables because we couldn’t see anything due to the direct light. The waitress understood and agreed, so I’m not sure why she hasn’t recommended shades to her manager. 2⁄5 won’t be going back.

Great place for lunch! The food is great! Best of all are the statues! The giant Duke Dog, The joker, etc.

I guess this place is okay if you like generic sandwich chain restaurants. There are so many better options in Harrisonburg. I don’t know why you would go here. Even the drinks are cheaper elsewhere. Look around for better food and drinks.

Been here a few times now. Never disappointed. They have a great Bloody Mary bar on Sunday’s now. Good drink specials everyday. The food is tasty too. A very extensive sandwich menu. Have yet to choose a sandwich that I didn’t like. They do have a sandwich here called the Hindenberg that is great for groups. Yes groups. It serves four and is only 19.95 and if you come in on Mondays it’s half price. Definitely worth stopping in for.

Ate at most of the macado’s before this one. Food was same as other. The waitress in this one had her mind occupied with stuff other than waiting on me. Also of all the other macados this one has no real style. Much more bland than others. Will not waste my time at this one again.

24 kinds of beer on tap but little else. Had a burger. It was flavorless. Waiter was clueless and didn’t clear the tables. Really not worth the effort.

The food is way too salty! We had the cheese steak sandwich and fries both of which we could not eat. The steak sandwich was not what you would expect. It was not thinly sliced fresh beef. I suppose all the salt was to encourage you to drink more. The only good thing was the service was pleasant.

I would have given zero stars, but one of the waitresses gives my friend head on the regular. He insisted it was good enough to give a single star. He leaves satisfied, but I never do upon exiting macs.

Glad Harrisonburg finally has a great sandwich dining option. Some locals may think it is same as the old Spanky’s downtown but it’s not. The brothers split the business and Macado’s was always consistent and clean, that is why they are still around and Spanky’s is not. I’ve been eating at Macado’s since my undergrad days at VT in the 80’s and the Harrisonburg location met my expectations on our first visit a day or two after they opened. My favorites here are the bagel based sandwiches particularly the Dietrich’s Delight and the Dr. Watson. Happy Hour specials on food and drinks will make this a busy place after work too.

Had to hit this up since several of The Tribe remember Spanky’s when it was Downtown. Lots of flair on the walls. Guitars. Pictures. Great music mix going. Cool bar with interesting ceiling fan arrangement. Parking may be an issue when it gets busy. With this being opening day it was a little frantic with the staff but I see the big picture of a Harrisonburg icon in the making. Huge selection of sandwiches. I had the steak quesadilla and it was huge and great tasting. Welcome to The ‘Burg. Best of luck to you.
