Visits: Twice, for dinner. Food: Dammit, H’burg, you are way too small to have some of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to — and this is now one among them. I ordered two sushi a la carte, and had a sushi boat for three on both visits. The sushi was fairly priced and generous, and actually three different pieces from the fish per set. The sushi boat was even more awesome — there was a filler roll or two, but the vast majority were great rolls stuffed with very sizable pieces of fish. Everything was plenty fresh and very tasty. Atmosphere: Despite being called«Express», the inside is surprising not a bad sit-down. Very casual and simple, but not just a place to stand while waiting for food, either. Service: Prompt. I was sorta stunned at how fast things came, given the size of what I ordered. Cost/Benefit: Very good. A boat for 3 is several rolls(I remember 8 or so), 6 pieces sashimi, and 9 pieces sushi for only $ 45 or so. Count me satisfied. Prices for food are generally lower in H’burg than in many places, but it doesn’t make it any less great. If I lived in H’burg, I’d be a frequent visitor for sure. I’ve been to sushi restaurants in big metros up and down the east coast — this ranks up there with the best of them.

I’ve been to Mr. Sato Express several times. I’ve had sushi, the teriyaki tofu lunch special and the chicken yakitori bento box. Everything has been tasty and well-prepared. The amount of food in both the lunch special and bento boxes is a great value for the price.

Fast delivery, delicious food, and great prices! I’m a big fan of their soups and sushi. Delivery is fast compared to other take out places in Harrisonburg and I like that you have the option of ordering online. I usually order a couple of bowls of soup and a few sushi rolls to eat throughout the weekend if work and school keep me busy. It’s very reasonably priced and tastes great!

Came here with friends I love their sushi! They should clean their place a bit though. Their sushi took awhile but I didn’t mind. Sometime I usually order from there and it was a but of a long wait. Wait time took about 45−60min. Other than that I like their sushi

I can honestly say that this is probably my best experience ever with a Japanese Express restaurant. The food was quality, the flavors were excellent and not too much. The portions were large and they had original Japanese White Sauce, not that nasty Yum Yum sauce(they had yum yum as well for those that like that junk). I would highly recommend this to anyone. I had the Chicken and Shrimp with Clear Soup and a California Roll. Well worth it!!!

I would say the food is… decent for the price. I’ve eaten here a dozen or so times over my college years and for the price you really can’t complain. Just don’t always expect to get the freshest(or most authentic) food. For instance, today I ordered shrimp and scallops teriyaki, and for $ 12.95 I got(not kidding) 3 scallops and maybe 4 – 5 shrimp. Kind of felt like a rip-off but then again I’m not going to complain dramatically considering the price. As far as the sushi goes, I’ve never been a huge fan. Seems like a lot of it isn’t mega-fresh and is often overflowed with sauces/imitation crab meat to cover it up. I would however recommend the fried rice, which is always fantastic and every experience I have had it is has been fresh. The staff is also very friendly. Basically. for $ 15 or less if you have the craving for some cheap sushi/cheap Japanese this isn’t a bad choice. However if you are looking for fresh and delicious Japanese food I would recommend Kyotos in Harrisonburg and for fresh sushi Oriental Café definitely has the top stop in Harrisonburg hands down. Bottom line: You get what you pay for.

Tonight was my first time at Mr. Sato’s, & I will definitely be returning! The chicken fried rice was delicious, & I wish it came in a size larger than a pint! I didn’t even need to add too much yum yum sauce. Definately a new favorite spot.

Absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant of all time! So incredibly delicious, well priced, fast, and staff is friendly. Nothing fancy, they do served on disposable plates and the place has maybe 10 tables in a small little shop. Spring rolls are fresh, fried rice always tastes freshly made, and sushi is just beyond good. They also deliver. Have a wide range of sushi from super cheap to somewhat a bit expensive(liek $ 12 roll but its huge!) and lots of cooked options with shrimp and crab. Highly recommend!

We wanted to stop by and check this place out thanks to a friend who recommended us. We were greeted by a very helpful cashier. His name is Cristian and his extensive knowledge about the menu will guide you towards the right meal of the day. We tried a couple different rolls but the Spicy Salmon was my personal favorite dipped with the Spicy Mayo. The owner of the restaurant Vincent checked up on us to see how we were doing so that was really cool. He convinced us to try their hot sake which really hit the spot. This place is very promising and my friend and I will be coming back for more. Shout out to Mr. Sato’s.

Was visiting a friend and they recommended Mr. Sato. Quick delivery. Good price. I’m not a huge sushi expert so I can’t honestly speak to the quality. Got exactly what I ordered and on time. Food was tasty. They met all my standards for takeout.

Teriyaki chicken is bad. They take some white meat chicken cook it and put some teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds and here comes their teriyaki non sense. Chicken is not grilled. The sauce is bad too. The sushi is average, and it is what they specialize in. Better stick with that.

Visiting family and they asked if I wanted sushi. Of course, living in SoCal sushi options are plentiful, so I was a bit skeptical of having sushi in the burg, but agreed. Oh my goodness — what a delightful surprise! So glad to know the burg has this little sushi restaurant. If I lived here I would be a regular. Fast and friendly service. We ordered edamame, gyoza(steamed the way I like it), and several rolls. One had mango on top. All were fresh and tasty. Thank you Mr. Sato for impressing my palate while visiting in the valley :-)

This is my favorite restaurant in Harrisonburg! When I was a student at JMU I would eat here at lease a few times a month. I don’t know what they do to their chicken fried rice, but it is awesome, just pour some yum yum sauce on the rice and you will never look at fried rice the same.

Best deal on good sushi in town. Try the«crazy spicy tuna»; it’s not actually«crazy spicy» but it’s good.

A true diamond in the dirt. I would have never thought I would find good sushi in Harrisonburg, VA. This place is located in the middle of cow/chicken country, but somehow found a way to serve some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Everything was fresh, nothing felt like it was frozen or recently thawed out. The cuts were all big portions, and the best part was that it was extremely reasonably priced. I got the sushi/sashami combo which normally would have been like $ 25 here in the DMV for only $ 15 there. My friends got the dinner for 2 for $ 30 which could definitely feed 2 –3 people. It’s located in a college town though, so the prices have to be semi affordable. You get awesome quality sushi for very cheap. No unnecessary here frills either. They serve everything on Styrofoam plates and use wooden chopsticks. I am definitely craving to come back and maybe up their stars. This place is sorta out of reach for college kids since they can’t afford $ 15 meals, but I would come back here everyday if they had this up in NOVA.
