Amtrak

Spending time in Hartford and want a fun weekend trip to oh dunno, maybe New York City? Amtrak served us well. Train was on time, clean, friendly staff and reasonably fast. We were in Manhattan in about two hours. Some of the Amtrak lines I have used in California were so slow that you might as well just drive or ride a bike ~ but these lines will put the gas pedal down.
The engines from here are diesel and before entering New York they have to switch the engine to electric (never understood that because it’s still diesel yet with electric trucks /​wheels) but that doesn’t take but like 10 minutes in Bridgeport. Plus you can get out to stretch your legs.
Every seat has electrical plugs for your laptop, tablet, iPhone, iPad, Android, Google phone, external USB charger, etc. So use those and you’ll be fully charged when you get where you are going.
Reasonably priced and actually quite fun. You get to see a lot of stuff that you would never see by car, yet considerably faster as the cars have to stop for you.
