Came in to decide on the purchase of a point and shoot along with an DSLR that I had wanted for years. Aaron helped us and was great from start to finish. He wasn’t pushy in the least and answered all our questions and was patient with all our questions about one model versus another. Have referred several friends and they all had great experiences. Go support a local, family run business!

I came into Camera Bar on a Wednesday with some old negatives(from 1948) seeing what they could do for me. The salesman was very helpful and said they could be scanned onto a CD and prints could be created by the next Monday — I thought that was a good turn around time. I picked up the photos today and the quality of prints is terrific. I thought the price was a bit high for the scanning, although I would trust the Camera Bar again — especially with older items having sentimental value. The negatives & the envelope they were in(which were over 60 years old) were returned to me in the exact condition in which I dropped them off. I definitely appreciate the quality and promptness of service I received.

I have a tremendous appreciation for photography stores but not where you get guilt tripped into buying stuff. Their film camera selection is nice to look at but is slightly overpriced.

Unfortunately I decided to reach out to this place with hopes of going in for equipment or classes if that is something they offer. But before I was even able to get that far I was told that if I did not purchase my camera there they couldn’t help me?! Being that I am new to photography I am sure I will need equipment in addition to my existing camera but I would not chose to spend my money here. Based on my experience if I could I would rate this place at 0 stars.

There are some items that the vast majority need trustworthy professional guidance with in order to purchase. Camera’s and related accessories are certainly something that I am uneasy purchasing at a big box store. I found the Camera Bar two days before Christmas. The place was hopping when I got there, the staff(turns out it was the owner) cheerfully greeted me and I waited only a few minutes. I explained what I was looking for and that I was on the fence about upgrading my wife’s Cannon Rebel. A recommendation to get a wide angle lens and to not bother upgrading the camera if it was still working was made. Nice to do business with people who solve your problem for the lowest possible cost. Trustworthy, informative expertise not available at a chain. My wife’s hobby is her camera, the Camera Bar has a new loyal customer in us.

In an age of Big Box stores that specialize in low prices but neither customer service nor knowledge, it’s easy to forget that places like the Camera Bar were at one time the norm. The Camera Bar does not sell every type of electronic equipment ever made. I thank them for that. They know cameras. The times that I have visited the shop, clerks have been welcoming and polite to me. They seemed genuinely happy that I was considering doing business there. Contrast that with the Big Box practice of installing«greeters» who sound like they would rather be watching paint dry than actually welcoming customers. Employees here are not remotely pushy, but they are helpful. When I went in there as a sad photographer whose camera was not working, they helped me to confirm I only needed a new battery. What I was looking for was not in stock, so they immediately offered to call me when the new shipment arrived. There was no smirking about my probable overreaction because those who are actually interested in cameras get it. For a photographer, a non-working camera is upsetting, frustrating, and disorienting. Additionally, they are open on Saturdays, which is super helpful and forward thinking. They have a website: and are convenient to several major bus routes.
