Creative License

This place is SO FUN! There are a couple painting studios in Milwaukee that I have been too, but I was out visiting a friend in the boonies and we wanted to so something creative. I found Creative License through Google searching. Not only do the offer acrylic painting, you can also paint your own ceramics, create a mosaic and make unique glass art pieces.
The owner is so sweet and offers really helpful tips. We did not feel rushed at all; my friend and I were probably there for a good 3 hours working on our creations — and we were there until close.
With the ceramics, glass, and mosaics, you leave your pieces at the studio to be fired or grouted (for the mosaic) and you pick up in a few days. I cannot wait to see my final creation! I will be posting pictures for sure.
The art studio is a few doors north of the Mineshaft. I highly recommend this as a place to go for girls time or date night, and then you can go to the Mineshaft for dinner! :)
I definitely want to come back and make a glass art creation!

A last minute idea… we had nieces and nephews visiting our kids, from out of town. As walk-​ins, with no appointment, owner Jessica easily accommodated the 8 of us. New to the idea of painted pottery, Jessica sat down with us and discussed several ideas of how to create various pieces. We settled on a plate with handprints that were then decorated as little monsters — tough to describe, but the kids loved it. She helped us step by step and everyone had a great time. If you are struggling with ideas on how to get started, she has several books with examples and ideas which helps get the creativity flowing. Items to decorate were fairly priced which included the item, cost of paints and the glazing. Items take a week or two to be finished/​glazed, however this is typical of most stores of this nature. If you are in Hartford and are looking for a fun activity, be sure to stop in.
