Dollar Tree is one of the very few brands that I am 100% loyal to. No, that does NOT mean I buy everything at Dollar Tree — many goods sold there are either inferior to or more expensive than(unit price-wise) products at other retailers — but there are more than enough good products sold at an awesome value to make me want to come back again and again. That being said, this Dollar Tree is, in many respects, an outright disaster. The store is always packed full of people, and you can(and should) expect at least a 7 – 10 minute wait at the checkout line(+5 minutes for every indecisive person in front of you who wants to buy party balloons). It seems like the people working at this location have gotten used to the fact that no matter how fast they work, the lines will never end; as such, the employees show absolutely no motivation to move the lines along any faster than a pace at their leisure. All of this, of course, is a shame because(as I have recently learned) not all Dollar Trees are created equal. This is probably the largest Dollar Tree in the Hartford area, meaning any goods found on the Dollar Tree website that you can’t find in-store at other locations can be found here. This location is also lucky enough to have a refrigerator and freezer section, which increases your food choices. However, the shelves are often a mess(especially the OTC medication aisle), as employees struggle to keep stocking the shelves to meet the demand of its(oftentimes) unruly customers. I don’t hate this Dollar Tree location. It’s the closest one to me, and it’s conveniently located around other major retailers I like to visit. However, I do make sure that I have a lot of time on my hands before I stop in for a visit.

Yikes – what a mess! This is true in terms of the physical state of the store, as well as the service. The store was a bit of a clusterf**k. The inventory is obviously lacking with the amount of empty shelves around the store. It’s truly a shame since this is probably one of the larger Dollar Trees in the area, by far. The wait at the register is always long, often with only one register open, regardless of how many people are waiting to check out! I’m also not a huge fan of the strip mall where this Dollar Tree is located. Frankly, the only saving grace for this store is the sheer size. Even with the crappy inventory, it is still on par with the other locations because of the size.

Lacking customer service skills from the manager to the employees. I dreadfully go to this location because it’s the closest to my home, but when able to I go to other dollar tree locations. There is one Spanish employee who likes to scream that they are closing in Spanish and English stating that she is tired that these people need to go home. The manager does not reprimand his employees for the inappropriate behavior, but seem to laugh and shrug it off. I completely understand that the customer base coming into this business might not be the friendliest, but the job of manager is to be the leader and be approachable. His irresponsible attitude is to blame for the poor customer service of this location. Also the manager tells people they can’t come in even though the store hours are clearly on the door and he cannot say they are closed prior to the hours states on the signage.
