The first gas station we sighted after traveling through Appalachian from North Carolina: we piled out of the car for snacks, fuel, and toilets. Citgo is the town gathering place. We saw several people from the community gathered here shooting the breeze and hanging out around the store.
In addition to your usual snacks, Citgo remodeled their beer cave into a gift shop, so you can get your snoglobes and Smoky Mountain figurines in one stop. My grand find came in the beverage case: local sodas! Definitely grab some bottles of Cheerwine, a combination of cola and red crème soda. Delicious!
