Not too far from the Lafayette Statue, as you approach the Hartford Superior Court, you’ll see this 12 foot tall abstract stainless steel statue on the corner of Russ Street and Lafayette Street. But what exactly is it? It kind of looks humanoid, but it has three legs, granted one is bent, one is curved and one is straight. If you stare at it long enough, you can kind of-sort of see a head and arms. The sculpture is called«The Guardian» and it was dedicated in 1986. One of the sculpture’s legs has a plate with this inscription: «GUARDIAN» BY BILLBARRETT COMMISSIONEDBYSTATEOFCONNECTICUT FOR THECRIMINALCOURTSBUILDING THROUGHTHE DEPARTMENTOFADMINISTRATIVESERVICES ANDTHE CONNECTICUTCOMMISSIONONTHEARTS 1986
