Hartford’s Kmart works for me. Although some departments have been down sized for profitability considerations, there is generally a good selection of merchandise in most departments. No longer impressed by Walmart with their escalating prices so Kmart is one of the few alternative choices other than Shopko and Kohls. Prices here are competitive and have found items that are definitely sales priced. Overall, the store is clean, orderly, and inviting. Something I can’t always say about Walmarts with their ridiculously priced«clearance» prices that reflect a laughable minimal reduction.

I only go here when I’m desperate to get something and I don’t want to travel very far for. The best I can describe is when you walk in the life is sucked out of you. It’s like nobody there, employee or customer, is happy about being there, nobody. It’s miserable. And when you look around the shelves, you half to wonder if it is going out of business or what. Walk by the electronics area, 50% of the shelves are bare. It just has a depressing feeling going here. The clintcher is when you hit the checkout, they literally give you 5 receipts – it just keeps printing and printing, and printing, I have no idea what it is, but I don’t even care and toss all of it. There is no way in hell I would try and return something here, that would be an even more miserable experience. And if your even more lucky, if paying by debit or credit card, you will be forced to fill out a survey before you can even proceed. Guess what rating they get from me? 1. Anyway, go if you have to, but be prepared, you will be older and less happy after you leave.
