Really great lunch place in Hartford. They have great sandwich options, fresh soups daily and specials. Everything is made to order and I have never had a bad lunch from Bibo’s. The staff is always helpful and it is easy to get in and out of there quickly. Great place!

Great spot for lunch. We stopped in on a whim and were really happy we did. Loved our wraps & salads — the staff was extra friendly and helpful plus the prices were good for the area. I’ll definitely be back!

Glad I finally went in this place. They’re right cross from our building and definitely plan on going here for fresh deli meats and cheeses. Had a wrap and it was pretty good. I’ll go back to explore more on their menu. They seem to be able to make anything you’d like. We went at close to closing and although everyone was trying to clean up and possibly shut down, for the most part, everyone was friendly.

This place has been around forever and is a solid deli in the heart of Hartford. Good quality meats and decent portions. But here’s the thing: You walk in and there’s a system. I have no idea what that system is but you stand in line hopefully knowing what you’re going to get. But there’s no menu anywhere to be found. Can they do a buffalo chicken wrap? Uh sure. Turkey sandwich? Yes. But you wouldn’t know that unless you asked. They need menus around or at least to pass out. And the selection of drinks and chips is fine. But it takes a while for the line to move. Again the food was good. But its a tough place to love.

The clam chowder was great! It was thick and creamy and also had plenty of chunks of clams which you could actually taste.(I hate it when I order any kind of soup which is just so waterey that you cant even tell what the flavor is.) Not here. The soup was great like I said and also very filling. The pulled pork was sandwich I ordered was just a little bit stringey, at least for my liking. I feel like I have had somewhat better on other occasions, so that is the reason I had to ding them a star. I actually did not even eat the whole sandwich. The prices are also a little pricey, as far as I am concerned. For the prices they charge on some things, I think that the food could be a little bit better. The service was pretty good, or as good as it could possibly be during the crowded lunch hour which is when I went in I also thought it could have been just a little cleaner. It was not downright dirty, but also not in pristine condition either. I do think they have some improvments they could make to make it an overall better experience. I guess I would give them a ‘B” for effort though.

This is an ok lunch spot in Hartford that has many sandwich options, small portions, and a decent sides selection. I have been here multiple times and have been waiting to be wowed but they have failed to wow me every time but since there are so few lunch options in Hartford I go here every once in a while. The only reason I give this place 3 stars instead of 2 is because they have a NY Jets helmet in the shop signed by Eric Mangini… Go Jets

It’s fresh! This is a normal stop for the office on Saturdays. I’ve had almost everything and it’s all great. Always great service and they even deliver. Worth the stop

I came here for lunch and the place was pretty busy so I thought it might be pretty good. I had the clam chowder and the penne with meatballs. The clam chowder was ok but nothing special. The penne was really disappointing. They hardly put any sauce on and the sauce they did put on was very bland. The meatball was also bland and had hardly little taste.

we walked here on a snow day. there was a constant line which moved very quickly. those guys(and gals) know what they’re doing for sure! we actually had to hunt down a menu because everyone kinda knew the deal but as newbs we didn’t. i have to say that the tuna looked amazing. and i am hard to please when it comes to tuna. but i opted for roast beef and swiss on white bread with lettuce, onion and mayo. the menu boasts ¼lb meat on every sandwich and i have no doubt that is true. one half was plenty for me when coupled with a shared cup of lobster bisque. the bisque was delicious as well. not chunky with lobster but loaded with flavor. my wife got chicken salad on a grinder roll and loved it. chicken salad is something not every menu has so it’s good to know we can find it near by. there were tons of yummy looking baked treats at the counter along with a solid assortment of chips. we were given pickle spears along with our sandwiches, and given that i am the pickle person i was psyched– even more so to realize they weren’t half sour. bring on the dill, yo. we’ll be back, for sure.

Max Bibo’s use to be a top place in Hartford to go for Lunch but def. is changing for the worse. If you like microwaved food then its the place for you. It’s too bad.

Food is always fresh and tasty. Salads are particularly good as our special sandwiches. My favorite is the Chili. And you get it fast which is what you want for lunch downtown.

Great solid deli. Top of the line meats and cheeses, good drink, dessert, and side selection. They also have salads, everything is made fresh. Two items really worth mentioning: 1. Their soups. They have a great clam chowder and lobster bisque. Their«bowl» size is pretty good meal by itself if you get one of their creamy or chunky soups. 2. Their pulled pork. Who ever would have guessed that this place would have one of the best pulled pork sandwiches Ive ever had? A deli? In hartford? Its true, but be careful, its only a lunch special on Fridays. Most of their specials are actually quite good. The pulled pork melts in your mouth, sweet and savry. Its served with or without cheese. The roll leaves a little to be desired since its just a typical deli roll, but its still totally worth it. The eat-in area upstairs is small, i usually get my lunch to go.

Sandwiches, salads, all the fixins —- top of the line. Friendly and speedy counter service even during a huge rush on a Saturday night due to a concert and two other events in town. Very, very impressive if you ask me. Now lets talk about something way more import than all the junk I just mentioned. Macaroons. Did you hear me? MA — CA — MOFUGGIN– ROONS. SOoooooo good here. I think they are filled with unicorns and the dreams of my future children. Seriously — they taste like magic. Had to pick up a few for my ride home…

I probably went here four times a week when I was working in Hartford. Not only was it one of the only things worth eating in downtown(that wasn’t a sit-down restaurant or bar), but it was really damn good. Get the buffalo chicken wrap if you like spicy, cause it’s HOT. Otherwise, customize your own sandwich using their laundry list of meats, cheeses and veggies. Good staff, but the prices are on the steep side, especially if you decide to get a drink and chips/cookie. I’m finding delis in New York and North Jersey where I can get lunch for cheaper than here. Also, the hours are stupid. I know that part of downtown pretty much shuts down after work hours, but when there’s a game or concert going on at the XL Center, you gotta be open for those! And there are bars in the area that would definitely benefit from a late night sandwich from these guys.

Max Bibo’s is a great deli for lunch if you live/work in the City because street parking weekdays is almost impossible during lunch downtown. I know there is a garage down the street by Trumbull Kitchen but if I need to spend as much on parking then the sandwich that will not work for me… Now for the food quality, the sandwiches are made fresh and the menu is quite extensive. You can pretty much get anything you want, the salads are also fresh and tasty, I’m a creature of habit and typically get the tuna wrap served with a pickle and a bag of the gourmet kettle chips, it’s light and filling. I enjoy taking the time and eating upstairs where they have several tables… the atmosphere really let’s you unwind during your lunch break. Max Bibo’s is a great alternative to the $ 5 foot long sandwich shop.

Good solid sandwiches. Recommended. Two sandwiches, clam chowder and drinks came to about $ 22. Thoroughly enjoyed as a quick and casual lunch

This is a good place to grab a quick sandwich, salad or soup. The service is a little slow, but the food is pretty good. I always enjoy the sandwiches. The other day, I had a bowl of lobster bisque, which I really enjoyed — in fact, I was pleasantly surprised. I usually like the desserts there as well.

What a fantastic find while just ducking into this place during a rainshower. I had a hot corned beef sandwich with a not-too-salty chicken noodle soup. Great chip and drink selection on top of it all. A little slow on service with a bunch of people in line and only one sandwich worker. One of the few good places for a weekend lunch in the area.

Max Bibo’s serves exceptional lunch sandwiches, with prices that are comparably lower than other gourmet delis in the downtown area, though it’s still not what i would consider inexpensive. i personally recommend the peppercorn turkey, piled high with meat, and accompanied by vegetables and one of their wide variety of mustards. in addition to sandwiches, max’s also offers an ever-changing variety of soups, as well as small cups of ice cream sundaes and italian ice, and homemade rice and tapioca pudding, as well as fruits with cottage cheese. overall, this is a one-stop place to satisfy all of your lunching needs, and quickly!
